    You did a great job of going through all the steps, super helpful! I have 2 questiosn. 1) What is the amount that Amazon FBA takes off each item? If you're making a profit of $5 each book, how much of that profit will go to Amazon for FBA, in which case what is your actual net per book? Is it worth it? 2) Also, do you have a suggestion for a spiral notebook with elastic band POD or even print in bulk where I store the book?

    How about doing it this way? You list your Lulu Printed Book on Amazon Seller Central as FBM. When an order comes in, you just go to Lulu and dropship it. (You buy your book and have Lulu ship it out to your customer). In that case, you don't have to buy copies of your book upfront.

    A question: How does Amazon handle returns? Who is paying for the return? How much do they charge you? Do they deduct from the profit you made, or they may charge you separately. That would be a great video. That would be a great video. If a retailer bought your book in bulk and decides to return them... could you lose a lot of money. I'm still trying to find a good POD alternative for spiral bound books. Unfortunately, lulu only makes spiral bound bindings for soft cover books, there is no hard cover option. Additionally, they just offer a flimsy plastic spiral. I'm trying to find a POD service for hard cover steel spiral binding but seems like there is no option yet.

    I like the idea of doing something low content of higher quality, including spiral. Does Lulu also do better quality paper, embossed covers, elastic band to close the book or keep your page, an envelope insert? Special touches.

    • @MyFreedomEmpire
      @MyFreedomEmpire  2 года назад +1

      Lulu does have a better quality paper option. They do embossed covers but no on the spiral books. The embossed covers you can do are a foil type of print on a linen cover hard cover. Currently, their spiral bound books do't have the option of the elastic close or inside pocket.

    It is really interesting to know how to sell non KDP books on Amazon ! What about using a traditional printer and use FBA to sell it ? As a children’s book illustrator I would love to be able to sell board books, hardcover with less than 72 pages and even pop ups... I struggle to find the best way to do that. Would you have any advice ? Ordering 1000 copies in advance would be ok for me. Thank you for this video!

    • @MyFreedomEmpire
      @MyFreedomEmpire  2 года назад +4

      Sure, you can use a traditional printer and sell via FBA. I would just say do your research and find a reputable supplier with a good price. Ask for samples first. Also, join some of the children's book authors/illustrator groups on facebook because lots of people have already published books by having them printed themselves and you could ask for printer recommendations.

    They dont allow the "coil bound" option for global distribution.

    This is great information and was exactly what I needed! I have two published books on KDP but am preparing to publish a spiral bound planner. This was perfect! Thank you so much for sharing.

    Hi - the instructions are very clear until you started to toggle back and forth to and from canva. Very confusing. When I click on upload it says "upload files" your says upload media. Please clarify. Many thanks

    I have a couple of questions…
    How do you create double-sided covers? What I mean is that the inside of both front and back covers also have images.
    And do you have to select Full Colour when you have, say 31 pages out of 400 that are colour and the rest are B&W? That makes it hideously expensive.

    Hi Caroline, thank you so much for all your helpful and informative videos! I really learned tons of informations. I tried to create or upload my project but the Coil Binding option wasn't available, do you have an idea why? Thank you so much.

      Hello! You're welcome! With the spiral bound option it's only available through Lulu, not it's distributors so if you aren't getting the option to create spiral bound, make sure that you have not selected the distribution option in the set up.

    I got lost on the interior file part. I downloaded the one from lulu (weekly planner) but also created the lined version you illustrated in another video. Can you show us what uploaded the file actually looks like? When I upload an interior file (120pages) it is not allowing the option to have a spiral notebook. Also, can we see the inside and outside of a final project. Thank you for this content.

    There's also software that can fufill the orders from lulu and transfer them to amazon, without buying a bunch of stock upfront.

    Great video! Do you know if you can do both, make your book through KDP and also sale that and book but in spiral as an FBA?

    Hello, superb video thank you, can you confirm if this information is still current (2023/24)? I'm about to publish a wire bound cook book (so it lays flat when cooking), I'm intending to sell it in the general Amazon market place with stock up front, not KDP, but it could well end up being better suited to KDP and will make the shift at that time. I'd ideally prefer not to need changing layout etc to suit a different binding so eager to factor in what may be necessary. Thank you again. Daisy
