I’ve been using my Clicks keyboard for a couple of months and I really like it! It take some getting used to to get proficient in typing but not too bad. The buttons are satisfying and feel good. The two things I would do differently. 1. Add MagSafe, this is huge letdown. It can still charge wirelessly if it’s sitting flat but you can’t really use any kind of magnetic stand. Also my MagSafe wallet easily falls off. 2. Make the keyboard modular so that when a new iPhone comes out, you can buy a new case and swap in the keyboard or even offer multiple colors and swap them. Being tied to the specific iPhone model means they are going to generate a lot of e-waste as people upgrade whereas a USB-C keyboard could last for many years.
@@BlakeHelms man I think this year they are adding MagSafe and CarPlay compatibility so it’s worth the try for me at least now. Also I saw a video of Phone Repair Guru where he opened the keyboard area is pretty simple for cleaning. Hopefully they will think about offering keyboards colors replacement at any time because that would it be great really.
@@christianpadron8681interesting. I’ve been wondering what it would look like to open up the back and add something like an ESR magnet sticker. Because holy moly all my ESR MagSafe docks and cases have crazy strong magnets. I could honestly get by without MagSafe if it is worth it with all the other features.
Been using this for about a month now on my 14 Pro. Took a couple weeks to really get decent at typing on it. I think I’m still a little faster with the software keyboard. One of the things I really like about it is the space bar. Hit to wake up your phone, hit it again to unlock and get to the Home Screen. Scroll webpages or emails with it. Use it in the books app to go to the next page, etc. After taking my iPhone out of it, it’s surprising how ‘small’ it becomes in comparison. I think it’s necessary to stick a MagSafe ring onto the back of it. My wallet and battery pack will not fall off. Overall, I like it, but I’m not sure how much of a problem it solves for me. I keep thinking I might just sell it on the Clicks discord or eBay or something, but then I do realize I do kind of like it. As long as the keys keep clicking, I think its going to be a permanent addition to my 14 Pro. Not sure if I’ll get another one whenever I upgrade though.
I love mine. May be a gimmick to others but it’s not for me. Will probably always have one as long they keep making them. The keys feel so good. I loved my Blackberry when I was in middle school. I even had the palm pre.
The creators put in a commendable effort, but it just doesn’t cut it in 2024. It feels outdated, especially since touch screen typing is much faster and better now, and we're moving more towards voice messages.
They should have included a headphone jack, data pass through, lightning to type c in the space that had under keyboard. And maybe a small battery, not to power the phone, but to power backlight.
Thank you for your review I've been waiting for the 14 Pro Max model to ship in a week (Aug 10th) and watching your review def made me feel like I made the right choice I use my phone constantly for Teams and Emails so i think this will be a great addition to my workflow.
I think they missed out on a golden opportunity by making the clicks keyboard bluetooth (while still taking power for the USB) so that data passthrough could still happen, and not only that, be able to control other devices that are paired to it. Especially with AccessorySetupKit now being a thing.
Making one of these for the new moto razr ultra. With full front screen and a physical key attachment would make that combo perfect for small screen lovers.
No data pass through & especially no MagSafe support is a dealbreaker for me. I need at least MagSafe support. A lot of popular cases have MagSafe & very low cost. I unfortunately won’t be getting this keyboard case. What a miss.
I like blackberys Design more but it looks not bad its just diferent a little bit to long over a circle geometry maybe just a antena for the style and Bam you got it a ultra long looking mobile phone like the first ones
The USB-C port is not a data port either...only allows charging operation. Button tactility is not as satisfying as a Blackberry and too small for my liking too. Please remember to fix the iOS app asap.
Thats just not a very comfortable long tall phone case.. they should make the slideout keyboard just like Nokia E7 back in the days.. but to make it not too bulky would be quite task of engineering.. i think aluminium will be nice material.. and MAKE IT ONLY available for the smaller iPhones..
Just got mine today for the iPhone 14 Pro and I have to admit the keys are a bit too cramped and it takes a lot of getting used to. Not the mention my typing speed has reduced significantly to the point I preferred typing on the screen. This is an expensive piece of an accessory just for nostalgia that’s not worth the money. This is a hard pass and I will be returning mine back to Best Buy. $150 can buy a good accessory and not this.
This product doesn’t make much sense. Recall during Job’s 2008 iPhone debut keynote, he specifically wanted to remove physical keyboard and styluses in phones. Instead, this is a “demake” of the iPhone 🥲

At $50 this would be a cool addition. At $150 it’s ridiculous.
No MagSafe in a 160 dollar case is insane.

"Leave a comment below if you're old enough to remember physical keyboards" made me feel very old...
Imagine clicks 2, the keyboard slides out and it also doubles as a powerbank

Considering about half the texts I get from people have typos, touch screen typing might be faster but I definitely don't think it's better

Headphone jack just isn’t something most care about dawg
I agree but for $160…. you need to add it on and with MagSafe

I like the idea of this but can't see myself extending my phone to that length. In-person it may be different but seems super large in the video.
BBY says this is available on 8/28 - Makes no sense if the new iPhone are only days away and I need to wait for the 16 pro...

🐬 great video, I may get one when I upgrade this year.
Smart idea, but would probably add some more cost along with draining a lot more power from the iPhone.

Using Mac keyboard with macOS Sequoia iPhone mirroring mitigates a need for this. It’s free and you still get the full screen view while typing
Why don’t they make one for the mini phones I feel like that’s the best use case?

Add MagSafe and make it 80 and I’d buy
The keyboard on my Treo 600 was really good. Took me ages to get used to the keyboard on my iPhone 3.
Looks like you lose wireless charging because they skimped on a metal ring
You can buy metal rings online for like 3 Bucks or less for any case that doesn’t have MagSafe.
@@BryDisney won’t charge anything though
No Wireless charging 😮
I added a spigen MagSafe ring and so far all my MagSafe banks charge my phone.
MagSafe still works, but the connection will be weaker
If you find virtual keyboards enraging, this is more than worth it. Screw nostalgia.
The 16 version has Magsafe and data pass through.
It just makes the phone way too long, like comically long. A landscape, slide out keyboard would have made more ergonomic sense.

What kind of icon pack is that on the phone?
I would get one if I had a 13 mini and if they made one for that aha
Thing is huge for the 15 pro max, cool though
there is nothing better than a swipe keyboard

Thanks for the review. I really like the concept, except it's going to have to be a hard pass for me, at this price point with no MagSafe integration.
Thanks for the review (and for mentioning the drawbacks)!🐬
I would be a lot more tempted if there were arrow keys
I don’t get how this could be good, if you use your phone one handed you can’t do that anymore, and it’s way too expensive
No way this accessory is worth 150 bucks. Not even 50 bucks.

$160?!!! Why!!
I want a gamepad case. Not a separate Razer kishi, but a case like this with integrated gamepad controls.
I loved the sidekick! Never got a chance to own one before the lineup failed 😢
Going for the Dr Disrespect look?
Does the annoying "3rd party keyboard" pop up with these?
I like mine
Would’ve been great if there’s a built-in powerbank to compensate with no magsafe.
Should save a slide out and landscape.. pass
They are going to loose money on this one. Who would use it. Overall it makes your phone larger/longer and shortcuts. Pass.
