Summer 2022 is coming to an end and we get ready for year 6, year 3 and reception.
It was our biggest ever back to school haul with Olivia and Holly needing absolutely everything!!

olivia struggling with the shoes not fitting reminds me of when i really wanted lellie kelli’s! i have really narrow feet and when they told me that i struggled to understand that. (sorta had a meltdown🫢)

I think she’ll go back to a backpack next year when she had to carry loads of books for year 7. This year she doesn’t need to carry much so it seemed a good idea to get a handbag this year not next ☺️

I always had the same problem as Olivia were when I got school shoes I would always have to size up as I have wide feet. Enjoy the rest of your technology free day
I was so worried she wouldn’t get the shoes she loved and Holly would be wearing them everyday as a reminder of the shoes she couldn’t have 🙈🙈 very relieved the bigger size fit x

Advice to Holly don’t stress about SATS they are super easy
I am about to go into year eight . Some advice for you is to be kind to everyone and try not to get a bad reputation e.g for not doing homework

With the lace ups Olivia could of got them even if they were to big in the bigger size and then put soles in them. I get mine and sometimes there a bit loose but they sell soles in clanks and it helps a lot x

Does the school your kids go to supply school supplies or do you buy them all?? Love you all btw💗💕
In our primary school in Devon you don't have to buy anything. You don't even need or are allowed a school bag. The schools supply all the stationary
From year 3 our school expect each child to bring their own stationery and bag. Key stage 1 so younger years get a book bag and stationery is supplied for them. It’s the highlight of going back for Olivia, first time having to get all her own things. She’s been so excited for it 🤣

Crazy to think Holly, logan and liv are growing up so much. Logans starting reception which is crazy and I'm going into my 1st year of uni which is also crazy. I don't feel mature enough

In England the primary schools supply all the stationary and your not even allowed to take bags because of the lack of space. Are your primary schools different
They’ve been allowed to take their own things this year. During covid the school provided each child a stationery pack. But usually when they go to year 3 they take their own bag and pencil case.
I'm surprised you allow a handbag style bag for your daughter in year 6. I would have thought it's more for secondary school

Holly doesn’t bring any books home with her, everything stays at school and homework set online. Next year she’ll have a heavy bag, this year is just a lunchbox and pencil case. I’m sure she’ll go back to a bigger back next year ☺️

England is so different from the usa we say for example 6th grade instead of year 6 and here sixth grade is middle school with 7th and 8th then high school is 9th through 12th and elementary is 1st through 5th. what is it there I’m curious
I’ve always been curious of the American school system too. Thanks for explaining. We have reception first then year 1& 2 is infants. Year 3-6 is juniors (reception - year 6 would be called primary school) then year 7-11 is secondary school. 12&13 would be college or 6th form. After that you can go yo university 📚

in scotland we do primary which is P1-P7 (P meaning primary)
then secondary is S1-S6 (S meaning secondary) we also refer to our years in secondary as, for example, S1 is first year!
primary school is from age 4/5 (if you turn 5 before february of the next year you can start at 4, i’m born in may which means i started at 5!)
and then secondary you start at 11/12 again depending on when your birthday is!

He absolutely hates waking.. if we go anywhere that means walking we would usually take a scooter or bike but you can’t take them round the shops. So we take a buggy for when he gets bored! Plus it’s the best way to carry the gazillion shopping bags we had 🤣

Honestly when you go to High School I do not recommend a handbag as you get a lot of stuff and they get heavy real quickly and especially when you Carry it for a long period of time!

I wonder is it not that bad to have to wear uniforms because I would get annoyed by the same outfits but in the usa in most schools there’s just dress code which is something we have to follow but it’s not bad at all so to the people who wear uniforms answer below
I always loved the idea of schools in America and wearing own clothes. Uniform isn’t bad though, takes the stress and choice out of dressing in the morning
