  • The Leslie had some problems half way through the show. So I plugged directly into the Fender Hot Rod Deville. Playing with no Leslie Speaker means you can't just hold long notes or chords and get that lush pleasant sweeping sound. Instead you need to utilise the volume pedal, the drawbars and wrist wobbling to inject some movement and expression into the sound. Especially if you like using the higher drawbars. In small bursts or specific songs or I absolutely the sound of a Hammond direct into a Amplifier. Or even a mix of both can be fantastic!!

      I know. Done that since I first sat behind an organ with drawbars - still have that same organ, 50 years later, still rocking! 😜

    Brian Auger always uses to play without Leslie - guess he used Marshall-Amps? I love his jazzy playing with a mellow static sound. But this is just more dirty and more Rock’n’Roll! Lovey painting with notes and sound! 🔥🔥🔥👍

      How do you get a Hammond into a regular amp ?

    • @Andy33615
      @Andy33615 7 дней назад +1

      @@louiscornale5667 I think it depends on, wich Hammond you play. It will take not too much electronic components. I guess just a voltage divider with load resistors to grab it from the preamp and root to a 1/4“ Jack. But i‘m no expert for this.

    That was absolutely wild! Amazing performance. You are one with the Hammond. And that sound! Woody, dry, straight/no motion and distorted. Wow! Just wow.

    This was great!
    I'm not a "stationary sound" lover, I never use the organ with just a guitar amp (on the other hand, I like the mixed signal of leslie and guitar amp/cabinet in parallel).
    But you rocked it, this was really expressive and effective 👍👏👏👏👏

    The Jon Lord influence is obvious but I’m also hearing Booker T. and Truman Thomas too! This is truly remarkable playing! Lachy you manage to strike that rare balance between virtuosity and not overplaying in this great solo. It is your blues and soul roots that give you that. Cheers!

    I kinda like this sound and style of playing in a video. Live, I might prefer the Leslie... but in a recorded video, when I'm wearing headphones, each flavor brings something to the table.. A mic'd Leslie is still nice, not gonna lie, but it's a little less impressive than it is in the room. Which is one motivation for people to go to live shows, especially if you can find a good Hammond player with good speakers in a good room. Thanks for posting this!

    You did like Jon Lord with Deep Purple on Made In Japan! What a beautiful solo (I love this song "I still In Love")! Hammond is the best instrument and you are the best currently for me (I didn't want to compare you to Jon Lord, it was just inevitable to remember that wonderful tone of the Hammond connected to the guitar amp without the Leslie, exactly like you did there, you are awesome!)

    Leslie speakers are obviously lovely, but there's a sort of sonic 'precipice' when you brake it... 😜
    Then it comes to creating dynamics on a proper Hammond with your drawbars and the volumepedal.
    This is a gorgeous example of what a console (B3, A100, C3 etc) *really* can do if handled right 😎🙏
    Cheers Lachy!!!
