Can we just admire that you’re at 7.24million now I still can’t get over it when I first started watching you I was so intrigued by your personality and now everyone knows you I’m happy for you
Love that you did Hedy's story! I already knew her story and have read several biographies on her. She is my hero! Beauty and brains are not mutually exclusive as Hedy proved. Of course, men couldn't wait to steal her idea and try to never give her credit! Love that you got that earthquake on video!
Herstory books are badly needed. I've heard some things about famous men in history that used their wives or sister's or other women's ideas as their own, with no credit going to the real brains.
I actually got my husband to listen to this one with me! He's a big science nerd and I always drop facts on him that I learn from these videos. Before bed he just asks me "what cool stuff did you learn about today?" 💜
Bailey the genius of your videos is that even when we think the topic might be boring going in, you always find a way with your humor and little expressions to make it really interesting and fun to watch! Love you girl!! ❤🔥
Per the inflation calculator; she was making $500/week which comes to $11,004.47/week as of February this year... Holy SMOKES! They were originally offering her $150/week which comes out to $3,301.34/also pretty Flippin dope. Sign me tf up!
That's crazy i was literally just talking about her with my mom and how disney based snow white on her looks because we heard on the radio that the actual princess who inspired the tale is buried super close to our home . I love Serendipity ❤
@@urgh9822 I stand corrected apparently there are three (Adriana Caselotti) I guess Champion is just the most recognized because they’re hardly mentioned sadly 😕 Edit: also don’t go down the rabbit hole like I did Bailey didn’t really do enough research, wifi and frequency hopping aren’t really related as Wi-Fi uses spectrum technology (but it’s related to Bluetooth!). And she and her man weren’t the first or last to patent frequency hopping it does as far back as Tesla. Anyway I have my regrets 😭
Wow, loved this so much! I am a woman who worked at the bleeding edge of database optimization and design leading to the ability to store and retrieve tons (my techie word of the day!) Data fast. I also raised 3 kids, had my share of love adventures and do feel a little forgotten now I'm a senior. I love this story of Hedy Lamarr. Thank you Bailey for all the random amazing stories. I love listening to you!
Thank you for your contributions to the world @verena_techie355 I hope you are properly appreciated in your life. Being a mother and a woman in STEM is the highest achievement 🖤
Thank you for doing an episode about her. I have never heard of her and as a woman she is so interesting and innovative to me! She paved the way for badass women. Love it.
I need a Dark History with Bailey Sarian Netflix series... We ALL need it actually. Who else is going to teach the younger generations the hot juice dark history gossip?!?! The Queen of Dark History of course! Love you girly💟💟
It’s so funny you say that, bc when I first saw the announcement for this series I could SWEAR that she was doing it for Netflix. Bailey definitely deserves it ❤
Loved this one so much! It's really sad she didn't get the recognition she deserved for basically everything she did, but she's for sure an inspiration for all women! Know your value and go for it! ❤️ Love you Bailey 😘
I love how Bailey just acknowledges the earthquake and says it was cool and moves on....I would have pooped my pants, panicked and ran to get under a doorway or something for cover. I've never experienced an earthquake but the thought of the entire world around me just shaking out of nowhere terrifies me.
So, I love how creative Hedy was as a child; but what happened to her in the Hollywood scene seemed typical for the time; thank you for sharing this Bailey, much love to you!
Bailey you did a fantastic job. I've always admired Hedy . You can see she's gorgeous but you emphasized her brains too. Love both your channels Lady .
I have loved Hedy Lamarr since I was a kid. Of course I didn't know everything she did at that age, but I was very surprised that so many people had no idea who she was. Well, maybe not that surprised these days... She was awesome. Thanks for doing an episode on her!
When I read 'The Only Woman In The Room' I just couldn't beleive the amazing life this woman had lived!! Like i seriously thought to myself 'this cannot be a real person who lived!' But she did and was so beyond everything. Imagine where we would be technology wise if those idiots had paid attention to her brilliant invention the 1st time she brought it to them!!!!!
I started watching this and I was like whaaaat no way all this leads to the development of WiFi! I must be too high 😂but then lo and behold, it turns out Hedy did help invent wifi!!
Bailey, you just keep being you. There's too much to type. Your talent, your content, your genuinity is so right on and In so glad you made all this with us. 💋✨
Ok so in the beginning of the video I was literally thinking “she has the perfect name. I wonder if it’s real” and then you said it!!!! Keep your name. It can’t get much cooler ❤
I learned about Hedy a few years ago and was so intrigued. I didn’t know ALOT of the stuff u mentioned but thank u so so much for ur hard work and research bc it truly doesn’t go unnoticed !!! Love ur work !! And you !! ❤ fan for years now
When Mel Brooks was in the process of filming "Blazing Saddles", the story goes that someone raised the concern to Mel that Hedy Lamarr may be upset that Harvey Korman's character was named "Hedley Lamarr", and she may decide to file a lawsuit, to which Mel replied, "If she does, we'll just pay her." Apparently, she did, and they did........
So, I was watching an episode of The Floor and the category was something like "Inventions". A picture if Hedy pops up and I had NO clue who she was or what she did. So, of course, I looked her up and now Bailey is about to give us the dee dive today. Cool stuff
I signed up for apostrophe because of you. Skin is on point I suffered with dry patches, oily patches, as well as a lot of acne, and my skin is beautiful after six months of treatment. Sign up people use her code for sure.
Alternative moral of the story (from my wonderful scientist/engineer father, with >30 patents to his name, and awards for many of the resulting inventions): PATENT YOUR INVENTIONS, and sue anyone who uses them without acknowledgment (preferably using corporate lawyers, bc no one needs to fund that kind of bs personally). I really hope Hedy’s family can recoup some of her lost earnings, after her tragic, but paradoxically inspirational, life.
Sitting in class listening to dark history and my teacher doesn't even know yet! 😆 lol this story of Hedy is new to me. Always love learning history with bailey ❤❤
Heddy was a strong woman. Feeling the expectations of Hollywood, judged by the whole country in every move she made. Not being taken seriously when she invents something that would tip the scales of WW11, our government used it & didnt credit her, they kind of stole it, if a man had invented it bet he would've been recognized. That's more than enough to break anyone. **Thank u Heddy for your contribution to our world**
It’s giving jasmine from Aladdin… I watched this & she stole some clothes to escape the palace cause she didn’t want her life lived for her!! Lol I love u bailey❤❤
you’re videos never fail to entertain me. my favorite teacher is my history teacher and i get to tell him about all of the little facts i learn from you!! (his wife also watches you and i feel connected with her spiritually now🧘🏻♀️)
Now we see why Envy and Jealousy are listed as two of the capital sins. Ms. Lamarr suffered horribly because of so many low-lifes who were both envious and jealous of this wonderful person. I hope she's resting in Eternal peace though I doubt if some of her detractors are.
as an autistic person myself, hedy seems like she exhibited many symptoms of autism! mainly what caught my ear was her taking apart the music box. i did manyyyy things like this as a child and still as an adult. so happy to see someone like me that impacted the world in such a huge way. love as always bailey! Or she just had that gift where she should've become an engineer. My brother in law n older nephew are not autistic but love taking things apart/putting them back together.
Both my mother and I grew up in the family antique business. My grandmother owned for years a lovely French bed that was positively owned by Hedy Lamar. Oh the tales it could have told. ❤

Kinda describes the beautiful Bailey sarian

“Dear diary, today I’m still gorgeous and I’m going to solve the war problems”💀💀🤣🤣
It’s great Hedy finally got a few awards and recognition for her inventions and ideas- Sad that she didn’t get the financial end of her ideas.
Bailey the genius of your videos is that even when we think the topic might be boring going in, you always find a way with your humor and little expressions to make it really interesting and fun to watch! Love you girl!! ❤🔥
She also sued Mel Brooks because of the character in Blazing Saddles(Hedley Lamar) and there was a settlement. She was not to be messed with.
I was wondering why Bailey didn't mention Harvey Korman's character.
Nothing was out of bounds for Mel Brooks! He didn’t mean anything by bouncing off her name. Just for fun
Mel was fare too and said just pay it, she earned it. He respected her and fought in the war. One of the fastest settlements in history.
I remember that! Blazing Saddles is one of my favorite old movies
@@terribongers2465Mel Brooks was the man.
You’ve taught me way more and kept my attention WAY longer than any of my teachers ever.
EXACTLY! 😂❤
She also gets paid more than any of your teachers, and this is entertainment. It doesn't have to be 100% accurate.
This right here is why I am obsessed with this channel and Bailey. I only knew of Hedy Lamar as an actress. No clue how amazing she was ❤

That's crazy i was literally just talking about her with my mom and how disney based snow white on her looks because we heard on the radio that the actual princess who inspired the tale is buried super close to our home . I love Serendipity ❤
False. Snow White is based off of Marge Champion she passed at 101 years old 💕

Who was the real princess that inspired the story? 😊
There's a dark history to the snow white actress too
That "keep tinkering" pep talk at the end really brought a tear to my eye! Thanks, Bailey and thanks to Hedy Lamarr!

You don't have to be a famous actress or Bailey to tell your story. You just need a cellphone, computer or journal. It could be a real treasure!
They did this to Nina Simone! She spoke truth to power and her art was too powerful for the little men in charge. May her memory be a revolution 🕯️💐
Paul and Joan give Bailey major "Svengoolie" and "Tales from the Crypt" vibes. As an 80s kid, I love it and feel so nostalgic watching her.
Interesting if Bailey Sarian ever were to team up with Svengoolie or Elvira for a vid.
'This is very true about the "Svengoolie vibes." Great comment.
I have an ex boyfriend who works with Elvira sometimes out in Cali. He's an amazing artist so I don't know any details. Just that it's a fact

As an encryption nerd, the fact that she figured out frequency hopping during the war is insane. We still use that to this day.
Thank you for this episode. Lamarr is one of my favorites from the golden age of Hollywood. Bob Kane's first inspiration for The Catwoman.

I had always heard that they used Heddy’s invention during the war. Your research was interesting. I really enjoyed your analysis.

I loved your voices and add onns to the story, it made it so enjoyable to watch! Such a fun, entertaining and INFORMATIVE video. Loves it 💕
Johnny Depp made a great song about Hedley Lamar about all of this. ❤ About how sad it was that they never took her seriously.
