I had the same problem skipping laps. My channel 4 was turned all the way up. The light was glowing. Once I wired it direct to the batteries the light was brighter and no more skipped laps. The port on the board doesn't provide enough current or something.
I race now just for a quite long time with easy lap without problems in recognizing my laps ! Could it be that you have turned your channel4 knob on the wrong side. We all race with the knob position complete on the left side - please try again!

Thanks for your comment. Our club just had a weekend race and I didnt miss a lap. No real drain on the batteries eother

Tried it on my MR03 and worked like a charm. Light is not constant instead of blinking
