Love these guys. Romanian men have very intricate and fast footwork when dancing by themselves or with other male dancers. Need 2 when U R in the mountains and the wolves R coming after ya. LOL Great music, a little jazzy of course. They R enjoying themseles, and we cannot take ourselves too serioiusly, too. Blessings from Samarqand.
@andyfreeze1, please watch other videos marked with romanian traditional dance / folklore/ moldavian / transylvanian / Bistrita / Maramures etc. and also another version of this dance (Calusarii or Calusul) because I've seen more acrobatic versions.
@ovika It's OK... you kinda scared me there, lolz.;D You're in a traditional dance group? That's pretty kickass! I'm just curious about Romanian culture.
Morris dancing is similar such as the costume and even the sticks and bells, but Mandravedere is right. I do Morris dancing in Champaign Illinois part of the Folk Dancing Society as well as doing many Romanian Folk Dances it looks similar but hes right in the Roman days Romania was Dacia and any Romans settling there people would have been of Dacian decent. It did not spread much outside England
@andyfreeze1, I think it's a mater of taste and I respect that, but you just sound hateful towards the romanian people and I don't think you' ve bothered to find out more about us and our culture.
Yes, it looks like a roman soldiers dance, including the striped costume representing soldiers armour of the day. It's also why there are no women included in the dance. But I must say... this is probably one of the most boring traditional dances I've ever seen. Don't Romanians have the sense to create something more than this?

This music REALLY makes me want to get up and start dancing like crazy!XD I love it!
Hop si asa!😀
Imi place foarte mult. ei danseaza foarte bine!

@ovika What?! I'm sorry; I didn't know you were Romanian! I really didn't! I'm sorry I offended you.

@ovika Oh, really? Well, that totally sucks. Do you know anything about what this dance celebrates?
