- Who remembers this? The LIVE performance of Touch My Body where the sound guy overlaps the backing track....TWICE in 1 performance!
At the very start, Mariah begins by posing then at 0.07 suddenly turns to look at the guy as he's playing the wrong part of the track which is then cut off.
Then at 2.19 he plays the wrong part of the backing track AGAIN! Mariah turns around and sings 'stop singing my part now baby!' to try and cover up his mistake.
She then goes all out singing the final part of the song which she absolutely nails!

This is actually really good. I don't know if anyone else agrees, but I think she probably planned on lip-synching, but when there was an error with the audio, she was forced to sing live and I really enjoyed it.

Although she lip synchs at times this was intended to be live. The guy played the wrong vocals, meaning he was supposed to play her back-up vocals that you hear on the actual album version.

Being a real fan means accepting flaws. Some people are just a "fan" because the celebrity is good... accept the bad side too. Mariah's human too. This is the only performance of Touch My Nody that they put that 3 messing singing voices in the beginning. I am her fan since 2004 and has never seen this pre-recorded intro in another performance of Touch My Body. She was not really expecting to this as you can see and it's impossible to lip that part (3 messed voices singing). Anyway, another 100% Live performance.

"Touch My Body" is a "very difficult song" to sing? I would think "Vanishing," "Vision of Love," or her remake of "I Want To Know What Love Is," but not that one! "Touch My Body" is s probably one of the easiest (vocally) in her repertoire to sing - no real highs or lows and no whistles, yet, she STILL used backing tracks. MEH! I could sing that one laying down with a cold and still come out ahead! LOL

PDC1987 It's quite sad because she used to have some pipes and some class, she was pretty much a 'role model' for young women back when she started, look at what she represents now, greed, narcissism and a lack of self-respect and discipline. Take "embarrassing" out the caption - this was fabulous.
It seems like the original plan was to lip sync the song and the track kept messing up and playing at the wrong times, then she sang it live and at 2:23 sang "stop singing my part now baby" as if the background singer was singing, but I think it was a track. Although Mariah's voice is a far cry from what it use to be, she can still carry a tune, and so she just said the hell with it and sang live.

Why do people say this was an "embarrassing performance" or a "lip sync fail"? This was just a production error, they started the performance with the wrong track, then someone else fucked up again later on, but Mariah looked HOT & her voice was good!!

One of my fav performances from her because I find lip syncing ones so dull and samey, whereas she really had to go for it in this one especially at the end with all the vocal acrobatics. Many singers would've stopped the performance, but she just got on with it and improvised and even though her voice isn't what it was 5/10/20 years ago, she can still pull off a strong performance.
um, this is an embarrassing live performance. you got caught preparing to lip sync so she sang live but her vocals were obviously still cold. then her backups who were prepared to sing with the recording get cussed out by a nervous mariah and we are supposed to ignore it? lol, she's DONE
