When 957 came out, I was so impressed by the animation and story developments that I thought "No way this gets any better" and then they dropped a nuclear bomb of lore with 958 😂 And a legendary backstory, too! It just keeps getting better
Drake has pretty much always been a marine. He was actually the boy in Law’s flashback that was found by the marines and his father (Barrels) was the former marine turned pirate who was trying to sell the Op-Op fruit that Corazon stole and gave to Law. Drake was introduced like his father, as a former marine that became a pirate, but the reveal of Sword kinda confirms that was just a cover.
As for Garp, he’s been offered an admiral position on multiple occasions but always refused because he would lose the freedom he has and need to answer directly to the celestial dragons.
Although I wonder how Sabaody would have went down if it was “Admiral” Garp instead of Kizaru.
drake is such an interesting character to me. we don't really know what his ultimate goal is and we have no idea what he's doing after wano, plus his backstory definitely fits the one piece theme of family not being the one you were born with and he's been through a lot on his own. I hope we see more of him :(

Just imagine when these chapters came out in the manga over 2 years ago; I was there and the internet was going CRAZY with theories and the bounty reveals.
Reminder that back on Fishman Island Big Mom remembered Luffy once she made the connection to Garp. I mean, it was obvious the two had to run into each other in the past given their "professions", but this reveal puts it into perspective.
30:49 Captain John was later killed and his body showed up as one of Moria's "zombie generals" on Thriller Bark. Also, in Impel Down, Buggy mentioned his search for Captain John's treasure.
My god ep 957 is a masterpiece in itself. Not only its contents but also its animation were both god tier😍

I just hope that the most anticipated episodes in wano doesnt become a full on Light show with bright colors that'll give me seizures lol.

Rocks must have been a truly fearsome person to be able to keep 3 of the future emperors on his ship along with a whole host of powerful clashing personalities and NOT have been killed or had a mutiny by ambitious crewmates. Not to mention it took the incredible alliance of both Roger AND Garp to take him out.

The chapters that 957 and 958 adapted were a damn BOMB in the fandom! I think they had a break after the yonko bounties and the entire fandom was like "thank you, yes please, we need a break after those 2 chapters!" I've only seen the fandom agree that a break is necessary twice since catching up dueing WCI: after Reverie and after these chapters! It was WILD!!

I get it that the bounties are like some kind of power level and used to show an individual's strength, but i still wonder who comes up with those weird numbers and does it even make sense for the emperors to have bounties? Like who is gonna capture them if not the marine admirals? They expect some random bounty hunter to see Kaido's wanted poster and set out to turn him in?

He said to be the richest pirate ever live. The amount of wealth he posses only after One Piece. But he too greed to share his treasure and end up be killed by his crewmate. His corspe was collected and turn into zombie general by Moria
The armband that Nami said "worthless" back in Thriller Bark was actually an enternal pose belong to John lead to his lost Treasure. Nami gave it to Luffy and then Luffy gave it to Buggy (who recognize it true value)
About Shiki:
admiral of Golden lion armada. Consider one of Roger greatest rival.
He and Roger fought a battle known as Edd war where half of Shiki fleet was destroyed by a sudden storm
When Roger turn himself to Navy, Shiki angry bombarded half of Navy HQ and only be stop by Sengoku and Garp combine
He become the first known person to escape Impel Down by cut of his own legs. And then hide himself since, prepare for his big comeback (not the movie event)
About Wang zhi:
Other name is Ochoku, he was former boss of the Beehive Island where the Rocks pirate was founded
During the 2 yrs time skip, the Rocky Port incident happen which Law was the mastermind behind it with the Participation of Blackbeard, Koby and Wang Zhi himself
After the Incident, Wang was defeated and his fate is unknown, Law became a new warlord, Koby became known as a Hero, and Blackbeard became new boss of Beehive island

Ruff, The bounties of One Piece don't just reflect the individual's strength. But true reason why certain numbers are placed on the posters is because of what the World Government thinks of them. For example, East Blue Luffy's bounty was placed at 30 million because they wanted eliminate him. As he was a bit enough threat to take down Arlong who had a bounty of 20 million.
957 is the jewel of the crown! Ishitani, what an absolute monster, she's AMAZING!

The thing about Enma.
It's stupid fucking strong because its an Owazemono grade blade that was so used by Oden that its on the verge of becoming a Saijo Owazemono grade.
Zoro can realistically cut almost anything with Enma as is, but once he tames it and let it become a Saijo the sky may not be a limit when he cuts it too.
Drake is like the anti Vergo. While Vergo spent all those years pretending to be a marine Drake spent the last 3 or 4 years going undercover as a pirate.
Rocinante is more of the anti Vergo.
Both worked as a double agent for the Donquixote Family and the Marines. But with different true allegiance.

Don't get me wrong, Enma is cool and all but don't underestimate Shusui. Enma was stated to be the only sword that ever cut Kaido in his dragon form. But I believe given Zoro could cut him even with Shusui. Remember it was the legendary sword with which Ryuma slayed an actual original dragon.
