Hello again Mike, Us Iphone users have the keyboard “text replacement” shortcuts to message our folks who are waiting for us to arrive. I had dozens on my iPhone but had to delete them since I got t-boned in April.
One example you may want to elaborate further on such as if your delayed due to traffic conditions, still waiting to receive the order and prior to finalizing obtaining what they ordered you can ask if they are wanting any additional items with their order.
An example is the letters typing the letters “OMW” will be sent as “Hello, this is your delivery driver James and your order was ready on time and I’m on my way and will text you when I’m approaching your location”.
Please let us iPhone users know how they may use the process of implementing this feature. This is indeed the safest way to communicate via texting while driving your vehicle.

You need plastic tubs to carry the groceries in. A real time saver. Also - you DO need to evaluate your Spark orders differently than things like doordash, etc. since you need to factor in the trip back. I generally approach it by simply by making sure that I'm getting at least $2 per mile. Overall, however, I'm making roughly 3X more with Spark over any other gig app.

Bins take up too much space for my vehicle. I use two collapsible trunk organizers by Drive Auto. These make my deliveries a lot more efficient. If I have two stops, each delivery is already separated. They have carry straps so I just grab the whole thing and take it to the door. When I'm doing food delivery, I just fold up organizers.

@YourDriverMike… i brought a wagon with me in the summer- the foldable ones … i thought i was going to use it but it was so hot i just wanted to put all on my arms & bring to the doorstep & get back into AC- but, if i work at all now throughout winter… i definitely will be using it just cus it will be better seeing its colder , etc.

In the right market or zone, Spark can be so much better than DoorDash or other apps. I live in a small town with only one Walmart. The distance from my house (which is on the opposite side of town from Walmart) to Walmart is only 2.9 miles. Most of my deliveries are 2 miles or less and pay on average $17 with tip included. Yesterday, I made 4 deliveries in 3 hours and made $122 with tips & incentives included.

My main source of gig work income has been Walmart Shop and Deliver orders lately. I know longer do gig work full time, and when they wanted to start combining 3 orders into one curbside pickup they maid it almost impossible for you to do the order and get the next round robin. My Walmart also gives out the round robins at 25 in the hour and you cant pick up until 55 on the hour. I'm not going to waste 30 minutes for them. Only way I'll take a curbside is if it is ASAP, the rest of the time I'll only accept shop and delivers. Make sure to screenshot it, and look the next day to make sure a customer didn't tip bate, I've got a blacklist of people I won't accept for because they're known to do this.

    • @YourDriverMike

Thanks for the feedback Ricky, I like the ASAP pick up strategy - makes sense since those ones are lagging behind and they need a driver ASAP as most likely the order is already pulled. My S&D experience on Spark has been okay, perhaps I'll be looking to take more of those

Depending on how many other drivers are waiting to be loaded and if they are caught up with orders, will determine your wait time. I don't do pick up since the stores in my area are too long. Shop and deliver is better paying too!

  • @MarksVegas
    @MarksVegas Год назад +10

Walmart is literally 3 minutes from my house and like 5 minutes away from where I usually sit for my food delivery apps so it only makes sense that I would add Spark to my gig opportunities. I have 2 main problems with Spark though, 1 is locally, the other one, I’m not sure if it’s a local thing or more widespread through Spark.
First, the pickup time takes forever at my local Walmart. Even after it says the order is ready, you can still expect to wait at least 20 minutes for the order to be brought out to you.
Then, if they send me an order that I don’t like so I reject it, they will repeatedly send the same order over and over again. Sometimes, money is added and it may get to the pay that makes it worth my time to do, but often, there isn’t any additional pay so all they are doing is hurting my metrics on Spark.

    • @bmills5824
      @bmills5824 Год назад +1

I was told that the only orders that impact your acceptance rates are the ones that are directly sent to you with a timer. The ones they offer to everyone (the ones that keep coming back) do not count. It is annoying either way, if I reject, it’s usually because no boost of value would make it worth driving. Aka 20 orders, 40+ miles for $40. Haha!

I waited 30+ minutes to return an order that was canceled on route last Wednesday. Yesterday, beside that one order sent to me 4 times, they were all shop and deliver which I like so much more because I can start as soon as I get to the store and put less miles on my vehicle. As a spark driver since 2019 I will say it's up to the driver to know how long it will take to arrive I never accept a order I know will make me late aka(OTA metric.) However, usually they give u a 15-25 minute window for schedule deliveries ASAP IS ANOTHER STORY basically gotra be right by the tmstore or start no more then 10-15 minutes after the schedule start time.
As for curbside pickup it's still the same after the update. I notice the no tip/ low item orders are ready. The longer ones are the 3 stop orders with high item count still wait 20 mins

I accepted one today that was 3 stops, one being Walmart of course and 2 deliveries. 1 order had 6 items and the other had 3. I was still at home when I accepted it, drove to the store (3 minutes from my house), and it said it was ready by the time I got there. Still waited 20-25 minutes after I arrived for a total of 9 items that were supposedly ready when I got there and there was only 1 other car in the pickup area the entire time I was there.

You’ll wait generally about 10-20 min to get your first order, delivery it and then not get another order until you return.
Once you return, you’ll generally wait 10-20 to get an offer, another 15-20 before to can begin to pick it up, and then wait about 10 months for them to bring it out. It’s like 1 delivery an hour even though I could generally do 3 or 4 per 2 hours easily

Spark is NOT the same as other gig apps.. Since they've gone to 3 customers per trip, it's lowered the amount of trips per hr. Dollars to miles does not apply to Spark, when the lowered available trips per hr means you can only do 1 trip per hr, if you're lucky to get 1 every hour, when they flood your zone with drivers. If you get a $10 trip for 1 mile, does it really matter that your $ to miles is $10 a mile, if you're only making $10 hr.. I look at the pay, the miles, and the size of the orders to determine if it's worth taking. How much work will I have to do, how far do I have to drive, and how much will I make that hr. I've been using plastic storage tubs with lids for 2 yrs, it's the best way to separate orders, get the most amount of items to the door at once, and protect the customers order from sliding around the car. I have 2 in the trunk and 2 in the back seat. As long as I get a lid on 1 in the trunk, I can double stack them and carry both to the door. I can stack a case of water or soda on top of 1 and carry it to the door in 1 trip. I have a folding dolly I use for multiple cases of water or soda, or the storage tubs if they're too heavy to carry both.. I try to get everything to the door in 1 trip, so I can save time to get back for another trip. And I don't have to worry about cheap bags breaking and spaghetti sauce busting open on a customers driveway.

But I have been seeing some very nice Apple store orders on the Walmart app. Love it b/c my Apple store is fast and you can easily multiapp in the mall food court and pick up a couple Uber/DD on the way out.
You can accept the orders anywhere; you just have to "start" the trip and you'll keep it.
I agree you have to consider it as a filler app. You can spend crazy amounts of time commuting but DD and Uber is going to really minimize the commuting between orders and lately, there hasn't been enough Walmart offers to do it consistently and warrant driving right back to the store.

Walmart is great in my area. 4 stores in my area. The mileage typically pays $2 a mile, and sometimes more. I usually do shopping and drive orders so I don't have to worry about the wait time. I can be in and out in about 30ish minutes and the deliveries pay $20 minimum. DoorDash is pretty much fast food with no or very low tips in my area. I also do Instacart as well, but that is my filler. I like compare the orders between Spark and Instacart. I live out in the boondocks so we don't have Uber where I live.

I’m quite selective with Spark orders and I don’t camp out in the lot like some drivers. If you catch the 7:20AM drop you can usually get at least two good orders in a row, which is good enough to hit many of the incentives. Incentives make it worthwhile some weeks, but some weeks have been a trainwreck with Spark and I concentrated on other apps. It seems like the app is less glitchy and I haven’t had any ghost orders recently. Best times in my market (Ann Arbor) are early morning and after 5PM… middle of the day is usually littered with crappy Sam’s Club stacks, but U might get good shop & pays.

In what we're sure will be a blow to the bottom lines at Uber Technologies Inc., DoorDash Inc. and Grubhub Inc., all three companies now have to pay New York food delivery workers at least $17.96 an hour.
An appellate court in the state, on Thursday, upheld a previous ruling from September by a judge, despite attempts by the companies to overturn it. The decision had been on hold pending the court's ruling and, as a result, delivery services are now mandated to pay their couriers either a standard hourly wage or an alternative payment of approximately 50 cents per minute per delivery.

worst time to drive for spark. the wait times and canceled orders are a nightmare. i have canceled more orders for wait time than i have done deliveries. it is a disgrace
btw, thats not 63 items. half of that is bags if you look closer at the order
signature isusually if you deliver cold medicine or sometimes the customer requestts they sign because previous deliveries ended up at the wrong house
spark in my market has a little popup at 10 minutes of wait time that says "you are elgible for additional earnings for wait time" they usually add $2.35 to the delivery if its over 10 minutes
the only true appeal is that they arent going away. they have plenty of orders.
roadie has proven to be pretty good with CVS orders. walk in,walk out in 2 minutes, always a minimum of $3/mile and CVS is all over the place

They seem to have "boiled the toad" with those S&D offers over the past year or so...
They cut base pay for curbside delivery and understaffed loaders for unbearable wait. This made S&D seem glorious to the unsuspecting. In reality they just substituted wait time with shopping time for the same payout that we once received for just delivery. BRILLIANT!!!
That exponential increase of S&D offers is NO coincidence, it's another of walmart 's famous _Rollbacks_ that saves staffing with no benefit to drivers.
I'm sure this time next year they're gonna require you to collect a dozen carts from the lot before you depart for delivery 🤣

Love your channel, but I think the commuting thing is more an issue for you because you live in an urban environment. (I've lived in Chicago/St. Louis so I totally understand the vast difference between city/suburb life in markets like that). I'm living in a small "city" these days so there are walmarts all over and it's not really a thing in my market. I've been leery of walmart because of the wait times, but the thing that has me still considering trying it is the rate-per-hour thing I have in my own mind. This market here I can't hold out for 2+ per mile all the time, so while I try for that my minimum is hitting a reasonable mileage and making at least 15-20 per hour. If walmart doesn't waste 1/3 of an hour bringing me some 12+ delivery, I might consider it because even a small UE order would hit the hourly I strive for.
