Fr. Lazarus if only I could sit by your side just for one minute, I would be blessed for lifetime. May God give you a long and healthy life as the world we are living in need a father like u, a father who is at one with God, Jesus, St. Mary and St Antony.
Thank you Father. Your teachings are very relatable. Common sense and helpful for an old , age 75, westerner myself. May your life continue with many blessings.
Amen. This is so helpful. I’ve been watching Eastern Orthodox monks from Mount Athos and was craving for similar teachings from the Oriental Churches. Thank you from Ethiopia❤️
oh lord give long and healthy life to Fr. Lazarus to pray for us and give us the power and holly life to glorify you as your grace is not like our sins we do.
Greece is with you Father ο Θεος να σε ευλογει παντα ..we listen all your nice storys and the holy spirit is dancing above us ..thank you thank you thank you God bless you always .
I had an experience similar about Mother Mary ...rescuing me like a shadow and if you know me I would be the last person saying this! But I know for sure it was her...I was also in Fatima Portugal and when I stepped out of the car I looked at my husband and felt this overwhelming peace and said if this is like heaven I want to go Now! Peace 🌻Terrie from R.I.
If I ever converted to the Orthodox Church I think I would choose the Coptic Church. I have nothing but admiration for the Coptic Church and I pray for the Coptic people because of all of the persecution they are suffering. God Bless Abuna Lazarus.
@@Julia-Julia If you mean Eastern Orthodox, he mentions at 7:30 that he was at Mount Athos. Also I’ve been on two retreats with Coptic monks, and they read a lot of Eastern Orthodox literature, and probably vice versa. The Chalcedon split isn’t really there in the monasteries, to the extent that there are post-Chalcedon saints in both churches like Saint Isaac the Syrian
@@Julia-Julia They are oriental orthodox. There is Eastern Orthodox, and Oriental Orthodox. I don’t understand what you mean by “United canonical Orthodox Church.” Learn about the Coptic church first before you make such accusations.
I love the story of the locust. I think he should have cooked it, but the good that came out of this is that he did not eat animals thereafter. I am enjoying this series so much, and learning from it the spiritual value of living a disciplined life. I feel blessed to know that monks like him and nuns are praying for us. Thank you.
This is my favorite program! I look forward for the insights and advice of Abouna Lazarus. He didn't like the locust..lol! What a lesson he learned and passed on to all of us. May God grant him many years!
I would probably not have the faith to eat a wild locusts. But the gospel does not say John ate the locust raw, lol! I got a sneaky suspicion he roasted those locust. Still, it probably would not be the best tasting, but it might make a big improvement to cook it first :)
I think locust will taste like what they eat. I know what ever grows out in that desert is really nasty. I am sure John living along the Jordan river had much better tasting Locust. I wonder too if there is a taste difference between the big and regular size?
♥ ♣ Your Illumined Holiness Fr. Lazaurus ElAnthony. I Love watching your solitary desert living, holy ascetic divine mystic videos! ♣ We know that it is written in the Holy Scriptures, that John The Baptist never would eat the flesh or meat of any of God's creatures, nor did he drink strong drink {alcohol} .... he was pure ascetic kindness and divine mystical holiness itself. John The Baptist was committed to never doing or eating anything which harmed any of God's creatures... that includes the insects. That is why the innocent living big locust insect that visited you, and that you caught and dipped in honey, and then bit it's head off... tasted horrible, and that was not what John The Baptist would ever eat. ♣ This is the actual "Honey Locusts" that the Holy Scriptures speak of: The Honey Locust Tree that has "honey" Pods that are nutritious and edible. The Honey Locust Trees can grow and flourish in very hot and dry arid climate where many other trees could not survive. The name "honey" locust tree derives from the sweet taste of the tree's legume pod's pulp, which was used for food by ancient peoples. {and the "honey" locust pod's were also fermented to make "honey" beer.} The long pods, which eventually dry and ripen to brown or maroon, are surrounded in a tough, leathery skin that adheres very strongly to the pulp within. ♣ But, the honey locust tree pod's pulp is bright green in unripe pods, and is strongly sweet and good tasting, crisp and succulent in the unripe pods. Dark brown tannin-rich beans are found in slots within the pulp. ♣ Holy Father... I am very sorry for both you and the poor green locust in your unsavoury dining experience! ♣ ♥
I am curious what idiot decided to ruin the good video by putting the CYC logo over!!? Please, remove it! It doesn’t make any sense!!!!! Get rid of it and you will have more people watching your videos!

I love the story of eating raw locust. In ancient times as now, many people in the Middle-East will eat locust... after they are cooked!! :-)

Fantastic insight to the life of a monk. thanks for sharing.
He is a very interesting monastic.
Father Lazarus, u r my spiritual ' Polar Star ', u guide me to find God, the God I really need.
I feel exactly the same
Michel van der Schaaf, we need people like Father Lazarus, to remind us of GOD, and to forget the craziness of this materialist messed up world .
Yes...st. John the baptist was the king of monks. Thank you.

I imagine that St John roasted the locusts over a fire. With honey that might be quite tasty.
Could a woman be accepted to experience a contemplative life in one of the caves?
+Maria Maruska yes, in Egypt. There are monasteries for Nuns in the Alexandria in the desert
+Bishoy samy 👍
There is also desert mothers in orthodox church..

I had to laugh at the locust story. People in the Middle East still eat locust and grasshoppers, but they are cooked!
❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉
I would live in one of those caves. But would they let me?
There are many women that life this life. There are monasteries for women in the desert
Where is the place?
Saint Anthony’s Monastery in the Red Sea Mountains, 28.92°N 32.35°E
