Claire is a source of peace, release and familiarity for Carmy, while also being an old flame/childhood friend. While ditching Sydney wasn’t cool, I understand why he would indulge into a relationship like that. I don’t he is intentionally leaving all the work for Sydney, he does his share of heavy lifting as well. I personally believe in Carmy and think Sydney does as well.

She’s a brilliant chef and Carmen values her, but she’s really impatient and overbearing at times. Carmen just tries to keep his cool but he has been on the verge of breaking down for such a long time. Carmen has been holding that anger inside since childhood. His entire family had bipolar syndrome and Episode 6 showcases that very well. CARMEN has so much pent up anger and frustration. Sydney is brilliant and ambitious, but she has zero patience and she’s also very out of touch.
Underneath his abrasive and cantankerous nature. Richie is a good guy who is a ride or die for real.
