We did make the mistake of not getting to the airport on time but don't think we should have been charged to go out the next day. Oh well.
It was a great trip and the next 4 days are going to be awesome!

Working in customer service, that rep was absolutely on the line waiting for you to hang up so they wouldn't get a bad survey - and if their supervisor hears that call, they're just as screwed as they would have been with the bad survey.
George Stratton **GASP**
George Stratton yeah tru
George Stratton I work in a call center. Could potentially loose your job for pulling a stunt like that. The bad survey is almost nothing.
But still when your doing the survey u are rating the agent not the company so delta not giving you your flight for free had anything to do with the agent on the phone he was only following delta's policy, soo......
Annys31 true but it's about the positioning. Not can I give you something for free or not.
The 60 minute requirement for checking in to international flights is mandated by US Department of Homeland Security. The airline has to submit APIS information, a complete passenger manifest, to US Customs and Border Protection for all flights entering and leaving the US. It's not allowed to add anyone to the manifest later than 60 minutes before departure, which is why you aren't allowed to check in.
except when I arrive at the gate 2 hours before the flight but the check in line is so long I dont get to the front till 50 min before my flight because they only have 1 person working. At that point it is ok right?
I’ve never seen just one agent working an international flight. EVER!! Please stop making things up. You must not travel international a lot. Starting with thinking rules don’t apply to you because you are a diamond
He said that in the video.....
@@nindalib he's not lying, when I went to Asia there was only one person
Hang on if he is diamond first class he gets to go though a priority line. So he would never have had to wait over an hour to check in. And yes I have been first class. Only premium to economy has to queue that long.
UPDATE: Delta called me today (6 days after this video) and they are going to refund me the $400 change fee. They are also investigating internally the situation around the representative that transferred me to baggage since that shouldn't happen. I wasn't trying to get money back from this, but thank you Delta.
nice!
Awesome!
thats great!!!
Cool
you dont get fired for having a bad scorecard. you get fired for always having a bad scorecard. The point is to improve yourself, and sometimes we cant always be perfect.
What that agent did was try to keep the customer from filling out the survey, which is an underhanded and dishonesty way of balancing his scorecard to his favor.
Honestly, showing up less than an hour before a flight isn't that smart..
he showed up 50 minutes before the flight. They hadn't even started boarding but security wouldn't let him go through. If you saw the end of the video you would know.
@Creeper Gazer Minecraft CGM Doean't matter same rules for everyone bo matter if diamond in first or economy. What an entiteled fuckface
@Yash Salvi (student) Nevermind that kid, probably 3 years old
Tbh less than an hour is pushing it for international flights, they're not gonna hold back a flight for two passengers if they get they get a runway clear 20 minutes early.
Dan, Delta has an international check-in cut off of 60 minutes prior to takeoff. It's on the website, you except the terms when you buy your ticket. It pops up. Domestic cutoff time is 30 before takeoff. Again, on the website.
You don't need to be at the airport EXACTLY 60 prior. You you can check in 24 hours to 1 hour prior. Especially when neither of you had bags, all you needed was boarding passes which you could have gotten by checking in on your phone a day before hand.
I think he excepted them
I've never heard of anyone so obsessed with taking a customer service survey.
The point isn't that they want to take the survey. The point is that delta tries to hides things
So confused... this guy didn't follow the rules and he is surprised. Am I missing something
You mean the rules that are rediculous, saying you can only check in exactly 60 minutes before the flight.
@@Timetosleep912 yeah, because if you're late, you're going to be holding the flight and that isn't fun for the people that FOLLOWED the rules.

Not Delta's policy, but just a phone agent who's trying to avoid a bad rating for his/herself. S/he would be in mega trouble for this type of thing if found out. Also, if you don't check in at least sixty minutes prior to an international flight on Delta, the flight goes to gate control and your seat is subject to cancellation. It's as simple as that. Check-in online or on the app if you're always this late, but Delta or any other airline isn't bad for not abandoning policy when it comes to handling late customers, regardless of status. In fact, you'd think a Diamond would know better than to arrive without having checked-in later than the check-in cutoff time.
Thanks for your comment. I certainly missed the flight, my fault. The agent certainly avoided giving me the survey, her bad. Is it Delta employees plan to all not take the surveys? I'm not sure, but it is an interesting thought.
+WHAT'S INSIDE? FAMILY res agents at Delta are evaluated based on hanging up first as a component of their jobs. so most will; this one didn't. Hopefully you've got the agent's name and were able to report it because it's totally against policy (mainly for this reason).
+WHAT'S INSIDE? FAMILY it's also especially concerning that this person was working the Diamond line. As a member myself, one of the greatest benefits is the dedicated line with the best agents.
I thought the same thing about the Diamond line. I didn't get her name and couldn't properly report it on their website. I did report it on there but got no response. Thought I would include it in a video instead so hopefully they see this since I didn't hear anything back. I'm not one to call people out and complain. But this one was an odd one that I don't like the thought of a possible rigging of the rating system. thanks for your comment
i'm sure they record and track every call. If you filed a comment they can tell by your record who you spoke with. Trust me the agent has been or will be reprimanded.

I hope Lincoln isn't bratty when he grows up. He's so privileged and I hope he turns out okay because he has so much and he could feel as if he's better than other.
What I'm thinking. I can't even stand the spoiledness of that child. My parents had money, yet they didn't just go and let me have EVERYTHING I wanted in life. If they would of, I would have turned into someone who kept relying in my parents my whole life.
I seriously hope he isn’t. I mean look at how much he gets in comparison to Claire and London. They get little to nothing when it comes to trips. Or little to nothing at all in comparison as to what Lincoln gets. Seems nice enough but still.
Sorry you missed your flight, but a lot of airlines have the ability to check in earlier or even prior to getting to the airport. And I don't think just because you are special flyers you are above the basic rules. You should have known them considering that you fly delta often enough.
This is mostly your fault, since you failed to check in on time. There are rules set and regardless of your status, if you don't show up on time, then obviously you're going to pay.
but what if that’s not their fault? What if they had to stop to use the bathroom, what if traffic was heavy, what if they forgot something at the house and had to go back, etc. These are all problems that they cannot help which can fault them to run late in which isn’t their fault.
Alice Cuddles all airlines ask passengers to show up two hours before so any later is a risk that the passengers have took and one that the airline is not responsible for
@@sadbtch1827 BTW, if you forgot something at your house, or forgot to check traffic, it IS your fault.
Jane Doe : delta lets u check in 24H before your flight it is their fault
You failed to show up on time. Simple own it
Alice Cuddles yes it is their fault! It’s called be prepared
THEN LEAVE EARLIER FOR THE FLIGHT,,, why is it the airlines fault
Then you should have went earlier. It's your fault if that happens.
Alice Cuddles maybe realize life isn’t about you all the time. Go ahead of time go to the lounge.
Alice Cuddles You know the condition before you buy the ticket, no excuse.
Instead of complaining about Delta, be there in the time you agreed on when buying the tickets.
Lincoln has had everything given to him and once someone says no to him he won't know how to react
We know. I looked it up on google, and he’s worth about 1M of June 2020.
Rules are rules. Coach or first class you have to follow the rules.
Running Mad but what if that’s not their fault? What if they had to stop to use the bathroom, what if traffic was heavy, what if they forgot something at the house and had to go back, etc. These are all problems that they cannot help which can fault them to run late in which isn’t their fault.
Alice Cuddles we’ll go to the bathroom on the plane, or check traffic a few hours ahead and if traffic is bad then leave earlier, it’s all common sense.
This is why you make sure to give yourself extra time. If you have a very important meeting with a client and you're late because you had to use the bathroom ran into traffic or forgot something at home, do you really think those excuses would fly with your boss?
Alice Cuddles uh ya that is their fault. Late is late rules are rules shoulda left in plenty of time
@@sadbtch1827 how can you say forgetting so thing at your house so have to go back isn't your fault. That's a pretty textbook definition of you fault haha
Don't be late then
Exactly!
I work in Delta Reservations Sales, actually on the Premium Sales line, which included the dedicated line for Diamond Medallions, and yes, this is not at all what Delta is about. I wish that that agent would get reprimanded for what they did. Just know that if you do not get a phone survey, that they should be sending you an online survey and those definitely get reviewed by supervisors/managers in that division. I am sorry that this was a bad experience, because as a Delta employee, I would never do that, and no one at Delta would approve of what occurred here.
*No. You don't have to check in exactly 60 minutes before an international flight that's the CUT OFF TIME. You should check in MUCH EARLIER THAN THAT and if you fly often enough to get such a high status then you should be well aware of that fact. They dropped your seats because you came too late. You can only blame yourself for that, not the airline, and it was extremely generous of them to refund you the change fee that you were correctly charged.*
Eruanne you are correct. It was his fault but then he tries to look innocent to get subs. And he probably wasn’t going on first class
i hate you
Ok so me and my family and a few others a group of 10 people on first class where flying home on delta we where in Jamaica the flight in Jamaica got delayed 2 hours we had a 15 mins to go through the U.S boarder that took a while we Maid it to our connection 7 mins before the flight left! And they said we where to late but they had already transferred us to the next day... but it was there fault... the bad part was we only got couch not fist class!!!
Going lazy Green what. That’s ridiculous. Delta delayed ur flight
I hope that when Delta refunded your money you explained it was totally your fault for missing the flight. You might want to have mentioned that you were just a little upset when you spoke to the customer representative. Remember, they can only do so much. Don't give the customer service representative a bad review because you made a mistake and you want them to fix it. Sounds like because you are a "Diamond" member and your son is "Platinum" that Delta should have made an exception for you. Must be nice to feel that you're entitled to special treatment for whatever reason you have.
Richard Largen but what if that’s not their fault? What if they had to stop to use the bathroom, what if traffic was heavy, what if they forgot something at the house and had to go back, etc. These are all problems that they cannot help which can fault them to run late in which isn’t their fault.
@@sadbtch1827 So? You should never, ever be there that late. Rule of thumb is to be at the airport 2 hours before the flight

Delta has been doing this for 20 yrs. it happened to me and 6 of our guys back in 2002. We were coming from LAX to JAX on Delta. 3 of us got checked in right on time but 4 of our buddies missed it by 2 minutes. They changed the time from 60 minutes to 90 minutes. We stood in line for our tickets and when we got there they told us to us the machines. The machines told us to go to the counter. We all had to reschedule the flight and it cost us $50 more each. We weren't going to leave our buddies. Guess what we weren't the only ones. We count 12 more people on the same flight that missed it. We could see our plane it didn't take off for another hour.
Newsflash! Every airline penalizes you for being late, whether you're a 100K, Mary Kay or the KKK, Diamond Platinum, or Gold Silver Bronze Platinum Kryptonite blah blah blah! The vlogger posting this video was going on an international flight, also. Due to security reasons, they have to have a manifest typed up, and ready to send to the gate, so many minutes prior to departure. When loads of people show up even 1 minute late, it throws a wrench in the entire on-time machine of the operation. It's not as simple as just "letting you board and making an exception". If you're not on time, you run the risk of all bets being off. It's that simple. Nobody's fault but your own.
The entitlement here is insane.
"No Photos, No photos!"
Loved the accent
Hey, Dan, have you gotten a message from Delta yet?
probably not
"Delete that part!"
Adorable
As a former airline agent, I want to shed some light on this. There’s some misunderstanding. You mention that Delta didn’t let you through security even though the plane hadn’t started boarding yet, which isn’t quite true. It wasn’t the problem of you not getting to the gate on time. The problem simply was that the airline gave up your seats. Why? Because you didn’t check in on the website or at the desk within 23 hours advance of the flight. You can think of “check in” as a reminder. This is what my manager taught me about it. Think of it that you have a job interview. The boss emails you 24 hours before the interview reminding you that you in fact have an interview. He expects a response for you to confirm. If you don’t confirm within a reasonable time (up to 1 hour before in the case of Delta) then the boss will assume you forgot about it and give the time slot to another candidate. Your status or fare class has absolutely no say in this, on any airline for that matter... even Emirates haha. Hope this helps :)
Moral of the story... always check in on line ESPECIALLy if you are not checking bags. In his case, if he checked in online and had a mobile boarding pass... he could’ve showed up 30 minutes before departure and made the flight (assuming security is short of course)
What reason did u have for not being able to check in on time at the airport.:/"/?? car trouble, medical emergency.. ect...?*?* I'm at a loss here..

you have to understand that workers at the airports of Paris and Brussels have to be very strict about cameras and so on, mainly after what happened today
Luc Meyers what happened today:(
Dancer Girl they had to shoot down a man at Paris airport because he tried to steal a gun from a French army
Luc Meyers This was filmed probably a few weeks ago
maybe but since the terror attacks in Brussels and in Paris, they stocked up security and when you go there you should know that
Luc Meyers thats terrible:( stay safe everyone
then you should know to show up a one hour to check in
I love you guys keep up the good work
The reason you need to be checked in at a certain time is so you and your bag have time to make the same flight. This gives a better chance for your bag to make it to the plane with you. This time is called "cut off." When cut off time hits for a certain flight the gate agent who will be boarding the passengers on the plane will take "gate control" which gives the agent control of the flight in the system. In turn this will not let anyone else check in for that flight. Delta really strives to get passengers and there bags to their destination at the same time. But on a better note we really do appreciate you being a diamond medallion and platinum customer!
Voted for Lincoln's shoes!👍

i think that 1 hour before flight manifest for international flights is an FAA regulation and not really a Delta controlled thing. Also if you are that loyal they should have spotted you the flight change for free. The “blank zone” after a Diamond call happened to me the other day. I was asking for a standby on a later flight due to an approaching snow storm (I will not get stuck overnight in ATL again!) and the employee just said “No I can’t do that until the flight is delayed”. Um, just tell me “you are not SUPPOSED to do that, but let me speak to a supervisor and see what we can do”. Asking for a standby doesn’t do anything other than put me on a list if my original flight is cancelled or delayed beyond the next flight. I wanted to give her a 1 rating, but just no hang up on her side....
It's your fault that your not going to Paris. When you book a flight, delta says to check in 24 hours before your flight.
24 Hours??? You're saying I have to check-in and wait for a whole day just to get on a flight. Just kidding, I know what you're talking about :) Delta say 24 hours because online check-in opens up 24 hours before the secluded departure time.

Basically all intl flights leaving the US involve running a check on the status of all checked-in passengers, so that they can stop them from leaving if you're on a list etc. Checking-in tells the system that you're actually going on the flight. So that's why they have the 60 min requirement.
First off, you named your son "Lincoln"? LOL OK...
Secondly, You are a diamond passenger and you don't know to show up to your flight at least one hour in advance? Everyone, especially YOU, should know better than to show up less than an hour before your flight. You gotta give yourself time to get through security, etc.

Hey man! Really like the videos. Only thing i want to bring up, because I am always hyper paranoid something like this would happen to me, is showing up at the last minute. I know an hour (perhaps a little before) seems to be plenty of time to check in, get through security, and get to the gate, but it seems to be a source of most of the "why wont (insert airliner here) let me check in after the openly published deadline?" Why not show up like an hour and a half or even 2 hours early? Waiting sucks, I get it, but rather sit at the gate waiting than at the check-in/customer service desk pleading to be granted an accommodation outside of normal procedures. Maybe, MAYBE, they grant it, but after how long of arguing and begging? Now you have way less time to get through security and to your gate. Just seems easier overall to just get there overly early (to account for traffic or long lines at the check in desk or security line or TSA understaffing etc etc etc) than argue with customer service. Just my 2 cents man.
I know that airport very well! Have a lot of family out there, and go to the temple often. Just wondering, are they LDS?

Hi
All airlines don't let you go to the gate 1 hour before, but I don't know why.
Watched the whole video! Great!
