Young TF2 player here (400hrs of playtime atm), i love this map too. Sometimes, i'm feeling like "fuckit, for the next 2 hrs i'm gonna play Hightower". Training my rocket jumps, market gardener kills on this map and just having so much fun on it. It's a simple yet cool map to play around and you said everything in this video. A lot of dumb things happen on this map : funny players, great friends, racist players, dumb conversation over silly things in life... And overhaul a lot of kindness most of the time. Yeah. I love TF2. Edit : So after watching this video i boot up tf2 and play some Hightower. Great moments, with a new special individual i've met : The 2Fort Tourist. It was a sniper wearing a vacation outflit, while he had a conscientious objector with a camera on it. He just keeps walking crouched while taking a screenshots in the VC while walking around the map. Me and my team tried to protect him of the major inconveniance of his trip : the RED team. I think i need to sleep now. God this game is timeless.

Good video, but I’d suggest changing the background songs after they end. It got annoying to hear Rocket jump waltz playing over and over again. Also, I sometimes play on the HK Uncletopia server too. I’m not sure if I’ve seen you there before.
Hightower was more fun before the stupid rules. I remember the early days of Hightower where people actually tried the objective and tried to defend with stacked sentry nests on the ramp. If you think today's Hightower is action-packed and hectic, you need a time machine, my friend.

i like that little story about the tryhard trying to stomp, getting mad and quitting, cause its funny how true it is, the tryhard always has a tantrum when the game doesnt go their way. and people say TF2 isnt a "too serious" game these days. you know, after a bunch of sweaty tryhard / comp players on youtube started telling everyone they HAVE to capture the objective, they HAVE to start using these loadouts, they HAVE to play like this, you CANT use this item, you CANT not help your team, you CANT NOT play the objective. i mean a few days ago i got kicked while being friendly, and got called the N word by the dude who called the vote (the team tryhard by the way) because i myself wasnt tryharding. and then another game yesterday, same thing, and the tryhard just said "get fu%@ed b!%ch"

I just saw the video in recomendation featuring my favorite map, so i clicked it watched it and tried to guess how much subs you have i expected something like 5K but nope , over all rly great video keep up with good work and you have sub from me :)
I hate high tower. When it first came out the novelty of the payload race was fun for a while, but every time I tried to play on a 24/7 high tower server I just couldn't enjoy it. Maybe at that time I was kind of over tf2, I don't know. But at the end, when you started going off script about how much you love the map, you reminded me of a time when there was a 24 /7 Doublecross server that was just the best. That's the experience that I've been missing, and I suppose high tower player feel the same way about their map. Good luck starting a community server.
Yeah, Doublecross was another GOAT back in the day. Hightower before the "unwritten rules" BS was also GOATed. Both could be summed up as "Bigger/Better 2Fort"
there are select maps in this game that harbor their own subcultures Badwater and Dustbowl are both sweaty maps but different people play them 2Fort and Hightower are the same albeit less sweaty on average
Badwater is definitely for sweats but Dustbowl is either for people that have played ever since the beginnings and are bound to the map by nostalgia or new clueless players who don't know how bad the map is. I kinda like it, but would rather fight on other maps. 2Fort and Hightower on the other hand, both are a sweat's worst nightmare. Almost NO ONE takes the mode seriously and is there to just laugh and dick around, I mean there is a reason why servers that literally don't have the carts exist, same reason 2Fort Intel-less servers exist. And if by some chance someone actually sweats and caps on Hightower or 2Fort, either all people that are pissed leave, or the sweat gets votekicked and honestly? Good for them, if they see that noone is capping and not taking the mode seriously, they shouldn't do it themselves. They should rejoin another server.
@@kamitsuki.6127 hightower can be very sweaty if you find the right lobbies/servers. there are TDM hightower servers which contain nothing but sweats on instant respawn. I think 2fort is always for crayon eating kids
@@waluigitheprophet4406 What I mean as sweats in these cases, are people tryharding and sweating THE MODE, meaning on Hightower they try to push the carts as fast as possible, and on 2Fort they try to cap the intel as soon as possible. If someone is DMing and sweating that, I have no problems with that. That's how I like it. But if someone sweats the completion of the mode, then it is bad and those people should br kicked as the fact that noone did it means there is a reason to it. That's why I mentioned there being servers with no intel to cap or without the carts to push, so these annoying-ass people are discouraged to do it.

You took a lot of words to say nothing. You don't even look at the basic structure of the map. You mention that it's a deathmatch map, but you don't even try to explain why. It's small, so fights are everywhere, and fights are easy to get into. It has an extreme amount of healthpacks, so you can easily restore after a fight. It has good spawn exits so you can't be spawncamped that effectively. It accommodates all classes very well by putting most healthpacks into enclosed spaces for close-range engagements, and subdividing the map into several midrange regions. The only class with issues is sniper, because sniper's lack of mobility is not punished at all. Sniper's good positions on this map are just outside of spawn, and they directly overlook 2 spawn exits, which makes a good sniper very oppressive. Overall, bad video. Very surface-level analysis, doesn't even engage with the basics of combat and player incentives, you chose to waffle about "the furry becoming a racist" or something.
understood! will try to give a more in depth analysis of the following maps and videos i'll post! i did kind of get lost when i was writing the script but i will analyze factors better next time. at the same time, it was just a basic overall summary of personal and subjective reasons, not ENTIRELY objective factors that make the map good. it does decrease credibility but i also think it's just a video that talks about the love and the emotional factor of the game. thanks for bringing up these points tho! i'll be sure to learn from them and do better next time :)
