I remember when I saw the Twin Tower's Old Glory enter the stadium in 2002. It was super quiet. An unspoken respect for what had happened is just there.
Gld to see the news today that Turkey voted to approve Sweden's membership in NATO. This is a good video. I just wish that the countrry could come together like this more often. I appreciate the time that you expend reacting to U.S. military videos. I sense that you get a bit overloaded with them on occasion. Keep up the excellent work Recky!
Just to add another one... One of my favorites is the fans at Yankee Stadium singing "Sweet Caroline" when they played the Boston Red Sox after the Boston Marathon bombing. The Yankees and Red Sox are the biggest rivalry in American sports. "Sweet Caroline" is a song the fans in Boston sing during the 7th inning stretch when the Red Sox are playing at their home stadium. After the Boston Marathon bombing, the Red Sox were playing the Yankees in Yankee stadium, and as a sign of respect and patriotism, the Yankee fans sang the song for the Red Sox.
As someone from Boston it was very nice to see people from the other parts of the country do things like that. Of course, my favorite patriotic moment was at the Bruins game right after the bombing. They had a nice video played and had first responders come out on the ice which nice, but when Rene Rancourt started singing the anthem the crowd starting singing and drowned his voice out. I get chills every time I watch that video
A lot of people forget that George Bush was once a majority owner of the Texas Rangers. And while he was not a pro baseball player or a great owner, he was around the team enough that he probably knew the mechanics of throwing a pitch pretty well.
Bush standing on that mound, giving a thumbs up, and then piping that perfect first pitch was epic. So many people mess that pitch up. He did it wearing a bullet proof vest too... Clutch
I loved watching Mary Lou Retton win the gold, it was a moment that whether you were a kid, teen, or young adult, made you realize anything was possible.
I still remember the joy and awe I felt when those college boys on Team USA beat the USSR PROS in HOCKEY. YES! I believe in miracles.🇺🇸. No hard feelings, Swede?🇸🇪
I remember watching that Olympic hockey game.....i was 15. After they won my whole entire neighborhood went running outside yelling and cheering, some were banging pots and pans. What a trip.......the good ol days for sure. Won't see that in America these days that's for sure😔
Wow.. my first time seeing this and I have goosebumps going on through this whole video.. Thank you . I remember watching the Miracle on Ice ... I loved hockey more than anything at that point in my life.. I was 13 and I loved the Philadelphia Flyers so when the Olympics happened I watched... I was pretty sure we would not win against the USSR.. but we did!!!.. I thought we had won everything at that point but no.. we had to beat Sweden (sorry)... I remember getting up early in the morning so I could actually watch the game against Sweden.
It's funny reading some of these comments. I remember watching most of the more modern moments, especially the Miracle on Ice. Did you know that the Miracle on Ice was NOT the gold medal game? The US won that game to move on to play Finland.
Those were some great moments in US sports history. So glad Turkey voted to approve NATO membership for Sweden. Now we just need Hungary to say yes to Sweden as well.🇸🇪
I was 12 yrs old and will never forget the feeling when we beat USSR for the gold in hockey. My Dad, two brothers and all all leaped in the air making so much noise when we scored that last goal. We all hugged and high fived each other numerous times. What a feeling!!!
As a retired, disabled Navy veteran it is so heart warming to see a foreigner who appreciates America!! I'm glad this video has inspired you to research your National Anthem!!! Love your videos!!
At a time when our country is in great turmoil, it was a blessing watching this (as well as your solo Bin Laden video) tonight. Brings tears to my eyes and chills all over. Praying our sweet USA can rebound and get back to itself. Than you so much for sharing these reviews.
Country girl here.. lets not forget Nascar... I went to the first Nascar Race after 9/11 in Dover, De and in Talladega, AL.. Very Patriotic.. went to NFL game also right after 9/ll.. I'm a season ticket holder for the Ravens..
My mom and I watched the USSR USA match from a hotel room in San Diego where there is a big naval base. I was in high school still. We had driven to San Diego to greet my brother on return from a long tour of duty, including to the Persian Gulf, on the U.S. aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk. We were so happy when the USA team won - could not believe it. I remember the room, the TV, the game, and how happy we were. It was one of those American moments you remember, like watching the first men walk on the moon.
Reckey! Much respect to you and your sweet spouse. Americans are proud and are willing to pay the price, I would be amiss if I do not give credence and respect to all people who stand up for what is right and in what our Lord gives us. Thank you for your content
If it makes you feel better, Recky, Sweden was the only hockey team that played but didn't lose to USA in 1980. It was a 2-2 tie on a late goal from, I think, Bill Baker. I was there. I know you didn't make the list, but I'm saying I would have gotten rid of three (Ali, soccer game, another), and replaced them with: My favorite version of the anthem growing up(such a voice, and so cute, too); ruclips.net/video/uAYKTMQl7MQ/видео.htmlsi=VWFJ0nIo4p0jE0w2 Until this one: ruclips.net/video/LhH14iYox5w/видео.htmlsi=iVJPonIzCRiH2T0f This one's 13 minutes, but give it a go: ruclips.net/video/fcuLabfJ1zA/видео.htmlsi=oARD5CyN7kZkQDlA

We're not really a soccer country, so she was making a joke about the World Cup. The USWNT has won a few World Cups. The USMNT has never won the World Cup. The closest the USMNT as ever come was the semi-finals in 1930 before losing 6-1 to Argentina. They got a big upset over England in 1950. The USMNT would not qualify for another World Cup for 40 years and wouldn't make it to the knockout round until 1994.
Recky you should watch the movie Miracle on Ice with Kurt Russell in your spare time it's a really good depiction of the whole story Kurt stars as the olympic coach of the team, and by all accounts that I have read he nailed it. It gives you a lot more insight into how he pucked the team and his training of the team.

Yeah, but Erdogan needs to sign it..
True.
@@jimt503 According to the internet, he has 15 days. So it should be signed VERY soon. Or... not.
@@Reckyj Well I hope he does as it would be great for Sweden and NATO to have Sweden in its ranks.

Of course you would. If I had a dollar for every time someone said the US was doomed, I’d be rich. And we’re still here.
From time to time, the clip of Rick Monday saving the flag is played in Dodgers stadium. Every time, the crowd roars their approval.
I remember watching that video of Jesse owens Ohio loves him
I watched The Miracle On Ice live in '80 and remember it to this day. It was a singular experience.
Wow! The flag! I didn't know that! So glad they put that in!❤🇺🇸
Great review Recky! These guy nailed it. You had an old man crying remembering these. God bless, Rob

2:00 it's because americans are known for not liking soccer or "football"
There's a video called "the night osama bin laden was killed" which is a pretty good short documentary with American patriotism and sports
there is a whole video on the game after 9/11 Bush's pitch
At least the most forgotten aspect of the 1980 US Olympic hockey team is that they actually beat Sweden for Gold.
We all have that pride and patriotic joy for our countries.
I cannot believe that Kerri Strug's Olympic vault did not make the list.
President Bush played baseball in highschool and college.🎉
He also owned the Texas Rangers
Schmeling and Louis became friends later on.
“It happened”. Lol. We haven’t fully embraced soccer.
I love videos like this ❤
I was having a party the night the US won the hockey gold medal. Couldn't have planned anything to give the party a boost than what happened.
You may be swedish but inside of you beats the heart of a proud american.

It happens refers to the fact that in the US has not traditionally been strong world cup play, especially in soccer.
