That Battenberg line is insane. It's a checkered cake that you slice, and the checkered pattern on uk ambulances. These dudes drop double and triples effortlessly.

Legit Cockney wanka here. Had people telling me I talk too fast my whole life. We've had slang since before someone invented the word slang. It was originally used so you could talk about criminal activities within earshot of the Police and them to be unable understand what you're talking about. We've got slang for everything even numbers 5= A jacks 10 = A Tenner 20= A score 50 = A bullseye 100 = A Ton 500= A Monkey 1000= A Grand but you could also use large, 3000 is 3 large. We literally have slang for more or less everything. Old school London slang is now being replaced with a lot of Jamaican and Indian slang terms now but these two old geezers know whats up.

"Then I'm switch suits like I'm Mr Benn" Mr Benn was an 80's kids TV cartoon in the UK where the main character dressed up in different costumes in a costume shop. 3. "I dodged the case, so I flipped the bird" This means i didn't get prosecuted and didn't need to go to prison (Doing Bird). 4. "mess with the cake then I'll Battenberg him" Cake meaning drugs & Battenberg is a type of cake eaten with tea in the UK. 5. "dipped like a Rich Tea biscuit" Popular British biscuit (We do love our Biscuits). 6. "Knock Down Ginger" game played by kids in the UK where you know at someone's door and leg it to wind them up. 7. "Box a man back like I'm munching jollof" Jollof is Nigerian Rice. 8. "Super Kings and a bottle of bourbon" Super Kings are very long Cigarettes sold in the UK. 9. "Let that rip when I'm whipping that German" German refers to a BMW Car. 10. "Flick of the wrist and I left him gurning" Gurning is a weird distorted facial expression (Just Google "Gurning" and look at Photos, You'll understand!) 11. "Just stepped out in a fresh Ben Sherman" Ben Sherman make Shirts. 12. "I was locked in an HMP" HMP is Her Majesty's Prison. 13. "Del Boy, Peckham, they recognise me" This refers to Del Boy the main character of at UK TV Show called Only Fools & Horses (Arguably the Best Sit Com we ever made). 14. "Then he'll get cemented, builder's site" Buried in a Building site. 15. "cone get split like Chevron" on UK motorways they sometimes have Chevron markers that tell you to stay 2 metres apart. 16. "Chavving his jewels" Chavving means Stealing. Hope this helps our American Cousins :P

Your reaction was awesome and a joy to watch. It’s always so much fun watching someone discover Pete & Bas for the first time. (They were one of the few joys of the pandemic for me.)
They’re even more impressive if you understand UK slang or pop culture. For example, Mr. Benn was a kids cartoon in the 70’s that featured a character who would change into various costumes inside his walk-in closet, then step out into whatever time period and/or location the costume suggested.
I would recommend Mr. Worldwide, Shuffle, Old Estate, Golf and Plugged in with Fumez.

Every bar and verse is genius. I could go into specific detail on each bar, verse, schemes, beats etc but it'd take me hours to breakdown in it's entirety. And alot is just my interpretation.
That opening verse has bars that have obvious meanings like "cats jumping like puma" "dream like Martin Luther"...
As we know, the verse has a "sleep" scheme with "Dream" "Fall asleep" "Nightmare" "Sleep" in each bar.
Now I could be way off thinking this, I've never read anyone mention it. But that opening verse also has a German/ww2 scheme. Let me explain.
Luger - a German semi-automatic pistol used by German soldiers in ww2.
Uber - Über is a German language word meaning over and above.
Wi-fi - George Antheil, born to German immigrants in Trenton, New Jersey. In 1941, Antheil developed a radio guidance system for Allied torpedoes in ww2 to synchronize frequency changes, referred to as frequency hopping, between the transmitter and receiver. Tuna - HMS Tuna (N94) was a T-class submarine of the Royal Navy during ww2. It was equipped with German-built engines.
USS Tuna (SS-203) was a United States Navy Tambor-class submarine, serving in the Pacific during ww2.
- now it's just my interpretation, and I could go into even more detail on the full sesh, alot that ive never heard anyone mention.

Someone on another video explained some of the British slang they use that just adds so much more depth to their bars that I simply miss out on as an American. Like the verse that starts with "One things for sure and two things for certain", later he says "mess with the cake and I'll battenberg him". Sooo... obviously he's talking about cake like it's money. But "Battenberg" is some sort of checkered looking British cake, and it's slang for the checkered pattern on their ambulances. SO much more than meets the eye going on here. The levels are ridiculous.
Another one people tend to miss is in the "Burn that rubber like I'm Michelin, 5 star food that I dish to them, Chef's hat on when I'm whipping in the kitchen, Then I switch suits like I'm Mr Benn" lines. It goes from michelin tires, to michelin star restaurants, to making drugs in the "kitchen". Then it's all tied together even neater by the Mr Benn line saying that whatever needs doing, he'll do it.
The way you said "what the fk is this bruh" i knew too well when i saw that sess first time. As a rap head for 25 years plus, this is one of the few times i couldn't believe my eyes and ears man. But these two are so legit, it's beyond comprehension and they deserve every accolade thrown at them.
