I hope you emailed the scammer back and wrote that you're friends with Esther and that she was livid and that they'd be hearing from her PR Team and attorneys. Put a little scare into them! If would have been funny if you tape a session with Cerebral to discuss being scammed and how it made you feel, if would have been a hilarious way to highlight their service. Fun video as always!
Given your talent, I really love it when you react to the best violinists. I have no idea what is even going on but for some reason it is great to see you comment (or just drop your head in amazement lol) at their skill. Great video!
i got goosebumps listing to esters part omg that was amazing. everyone who you asked/payed to do it did a great job even thou this is a hard piece to play.
I don’t know anything about the violin, but I play the piano. These videos are still so inspiring for me, I love seeing those who have mastered their instruments. Hilary is unbelievable, everyone did a great job for the time frame though! Very fun video to watch
Hilary Hahn is extremely skilled and talented , but ... Hats off to you ! And all your fellows (except the $100 scammer) who could manage to play the piece properly , in 2 weeks!
One interesting detail I've noticed is that most world class soloists rarely play showpieces like this anymore later in their career! They would shift to hone and perfect the concertos; and explore pieces that are more exceptionally difficult to express musically or something that they are passionate about rather than the most technically challenging pieces. It's a little bit of a bummer because I would love to hear Hilary's updated version of The Last Rose of Summer and Der Erlkönig now that she is so much more musically matured.
I first heard Hillary Hahn on the Soundtrack of the movie The Village. Regardless of whether you liked the film (which I did) her playing is as beautiful as anything I’ve ever heard. This challenge was amazing. Thanks!
I honestly love your videos Rob! Your content is thoughtful and well thought out! Thanks for a great video!

One of my favorite of your videos! I love that you showcased the range of difficulty and skill of pieces and violinists. So much of what you get on the internet is limited to decently played pop music
rob let me tell you You are my inspiration, tbh I started violin a month ago because of you I think you are the most inspiring person in the whole world Keep playing and inspiring
I always wanted to learn how to play but now I have carpal tunnel syndrome and even just doing my job is difficult. Thank you for your wonderful content! I just love the sound of the violin!
@Emma hi, this isn’t music related but I was thinking about carpal tunnel, which I used to be prone to from over-using the mouse. On top of which I developed arthritis bad enough that I couldn’t open doors, couldn’t twist the knob, nor could I lock it without pain. I did physical therapy, I took NSAIDS. They helped a little. I was only in my 30s so my doc found it unusual, me being so young. Long story short, when I took out the inflammatory foods from my diet my hands, feet, knees, hips, neck all got better. (I did Keto, with real food, not processed products). It took about a year. The diet itself, if you succeed in going into nutritional ketosis, is also anti inflammatory. So you get two anti inflammatory effects- first from taking out the bad foods, and 2nd from ketosis suppressing one of the inflammatory pathways (or something like that). You might want to do your own research into this. Especially keto-carnivore, a.k.a. Ketovore. It turns out some of us are unknowingly sensitive to a range of plants and it contributes to the inflammation. So taking out most plants for a while while you’re healing helps a lot. My hands are fine now. There’s only the vaguest residual stiffness that I don’t even notice. I’d say my hands are 96% back to what they used to be. Good enough for me, good enough. Again, sorry to come at this from left field, but I can relate. Hope this helps.
It actually is, same thing with Erlkonig, I'm not sure but I think the Last Rose of Summer came from an old Irish folk piece which was then written into a song by an Irish poet which Ernst was inspired by - check this video its got some really interesting facts about the piece ruclips.net/video/nWBNtSol0Lc/видео.html
I've always wanted to learn violin but my family couldnt support me after high school. now im reconsidering to start learning it with my hard earned salary. your videos give me peace.
I found another recording of this piece and I nearly fell off my chair. In my opinion she played with more colour and warmth than Hilary's, not to mention that she was *TWELVE YEARS OLD* at the time (I think TwoSet made a reaction video to this recording some time ago). Her name is Leia Zhu and she is already a very accomplished musician, and I'm really excited to see her development!! The link is here for any interested in getting mind-blown 😅 ruclips.net/video/lu7iD8rDchQ/видео.html
Assetful. TwoSetViolin is another funny channel. I loved the video when little[young] Chloe Chua was giving them lessons. All the battles with Davie504 are great too.
Leia played it really well, and it was CRAZY impressive, but Hilary still played it better. It's just that the mic and sound recording technology in Leia's recording is more advanced.
What Is clear Is that the differences between the first guy 17.50 dollars and the others are not so clear. Bravo all the musicians playing in the challenge!
That's a thing in almost everything Try watching a show or smth about piano and you will get motivated to play it The hard part is keeping that motivation up
Have I told you lately that I love you? lol... This is actually the best medicine I've had in years, I might just be happy for a day or two. Just in tears that I can no longer play, because you had that link tor a free lesson. Still, my mother thanks you, and I thank you, for the last rose of summer, as I knew it could be, shown to everyone for the beautiful piece that it is.
What a great bunch of talent and lets be frank, some of these are positively cruelty to animals (well to violinists anyhow) -- thanks for a FUN video Rob!
I don't even play the violin I play the tin flute and I know that song that is crazy ridiculously hard Hilary just makes it look easy. The first time I saw that I was shocked it was absolutely flawless. I can't believe you had Esther in your video she is very good also
Personally I find Erlkönig (by Ernst) and Paganiniana (Arr. Milstein) to be harder than The Last Rose of the Summer, but I have can’t deny the difficulty of The Last Rose by Ernst it’s still unbelievably virtuosic, but I would not consider it the “Hardest” at least in terms of Technicality (Funnily Enough, Hilary Hahn has performed both of them)
It's called last rose of summer, coz if you play it, it will be the last summer you see before you die from the stress of learning it Btw, piece like last rose or erlkonig(my personal favourite) are really where an expensive violin really outpaces a cheap one by a mile. Even a novice can hear the difference
You made this thing with Paganini's god save the king and now again with Ernst's last rose of summer. But this time you not just took the easiest parts in the piece.
it's not bad, and it's definitely hard to play. But I think I found it more complicated and technical than that. I would really like to know if Rob Landes can play it. There is no sheet music because it is ancient folk music. If you are interested, here is the link to the music: ruclips.net/video/_icFFPQ-h5c/видео.html I would be very happy if I could see how a professional violinist plays it, because I've been trying for many years and I can't figure out the technique of how to play it. The violin parts (19:11-22:40, 46:52-48:45, 53:25-54:19) But I think all album is beautyfull.
4:24 what’s with the rag on the chin rest? okay I don’t know a lot about playing the violin. But I enjoy seeing the orchestra and I love classical music; especially the violin. Why do they often have a trashy looking white rag on the end of the black chin rest? The white on black is the highest contrast possible making it very easy to see the raggedy edges of the cloth. It looks like it was ripped out in haste and it usually looks like the wrong size; like it’s way too big. Why aren’t there nicely sewed pieces of black cloth cut to the exact size needed on the ends of the chin rest thing? Even just for performances where everyone is looking at you and the camera is tight on your face; it would look so much better and not be so distracting.

Incredible effort for such a short time.
This piece came to haunt me in my dreams, but it was a fun challenge 😂 thanks for having me! 🎉
"The Last Rose of Summer" by Heinrich Ernst is famously known as the most impossible piece of music written for violinists. Who played it best??
Noone heck yeah!
Rob Landes is famously known as the greatest violin prankster in the world. Take that, TwoSet !
This is paganini caprice no 24 can you teach me Mr.landes I am a 6th grader. I want to learn vibrato
When you said hardest piece of music I thought Paganini lol! But this music was a good choice for the vid I like it!
I would like to mention the recording of Midori , That's also Wonderful !!!
