A big thank you to @Vessi for sponsoring this video. One of the fondest memories was a meal we had many years ago with some friends as we were visiting Portland Oregon along the Columbia River. We stopped off a place called Salty's because we heard they have a famous Seafood brunch that's only offered on Sundays. It was a fantastic experience, but they had a pause over the last few years. I am happy to say that they are back and a big thank you to many viewers for reaching out and letting me know! I had to make a visit!
After a few years, I couldn't wait to get back and am happy to say that the buffet is back and better than ever! Abundant seafood fresh from the Pacific NorthWest with it's sweet succulent dungeness crab, shrimp, and other crustaceans. Right when you enter, you are greeted with the friendly servers and hosts along with the wonderful aromas from the kitchen of their slow and low roasted prime rib and meats at the carvery station. Go a little further and you'll fine their world famous seafood chowder with a shot of sherry to make it tasty. And or course, a buffet wouldn't be complete with a decadent dessert station with a giant chocolate fountain! A really enjoyable experiences with great food, great people and a spectacular view of the Columbia River.

I swear I feel like I just ate everything you did. You give the best description of all the food. I enjoy watching you
Thank you so much and a very happy Sunday to you! Really enjoyable Buffet there
Tim, I think this is the first time I have commented on your videos but I've been watching them all year and love them. First of all, my favorite thing is the way you say "umm" when you first try something and tilt your head towards the camera. Just so. It's so cute. Dipping the corn dog in the chowder was brilliant and your love of food and good company and your sweet demeanor make for a most entertaining and delightful video each time. I'm glad to see that you now have over 100,000 subscribers and that means that you'll have more opportunities, more sponsors and that's all to the good because you work so hard. I mean this video alone shows that you dedicate yourself so much because you got up so early to drive! Just for us, oh and for the chance at that pristine buffet. Love it!❤
Eating like a King, that buffet looked amazing, another great video Tim!
Thank you so much! The servers and hosts were so accommodating and really know how to put on a spread
I dont know how Tim can eat so much in one sitting but its so fun to watch! Thanks for all your videos!
Typically, the seafood looks big but once you shell everything there’s not much there so it wasn’t too difficult
Hi Tim, thank you for another positive video! I came across your channel when looking for Hawaii restaurants for my son (a college freshman who was accepted to present a paper at the East-West Philosophers Conference at UofH Manoa), but have been watching ever since. With our current world a bit out of sorts, I really appreciate the journeys of simple pleasures you take your viewers on. I would love to see you add some more travel-vlog segments, to see not just food but amazing places in the world through your kind eyes. 😊
Sept 1991 my family from Hawaii was here visiting so there were like ten of us here for dinner. We ate, drank and had a great time. My 47 year old mom passed away later that night so this restaurant was my last meal with my mom. I still live in Portland and have never been back. This was a trip to watch.
I’m so sorry to hear. We had some nice nice memories there also
That prime rib looked sooooooo good!
I had to go back for a second piece to get the rib cap. It was well worth it.😋😋😋
You have made this Sunday so special ❤. Thank You for sharing with all of us! Your knowledge of description of the different types of food and proper manners at a Buffet , makes viewing such a beautiful time, with a Great Host!!! Thank You 😊.
Thank you so much for your kind comment… Still working on the manners dot and it’s working progress so to speak😉
😂 No need to excuse yourself Mr. Lee, you are just fine as You are! I once was before retiring in the Hospitality Industry. If you pass my standards as the Perfect Host, you're in the most spectacular company. You are gracious to All, with impeccable Continental ✨️ Style!!! God Bless You and Your Family and Friends!!! It's always a Celebration 🎉when I see a new video of Yours! Take care of Yourself and know that we all ❤You!!!
Welcome to Portland. It's been a while since I've been in Salty's. We usually go to a cheaper buffet on 122nd and Division called FJ Buffet or to a couple of buffet along 82nd ave. For Dimsum, we go to HK along 82nd and Holgate. I hope you enjoy your stay here in PDX. 👍
Thank you so much for the great recommendations! I may need to visit some of these places with Takara to celebrate her graduation!
I really enjoy all your videos Tim, you're always so respectful to everyone and it makes your videos enjoyable to watch. The food there looked amazing as always.
Welcome back Tim!!! Love your buffet restaurant reviews on the Westcoast!!!(Canada and USA) . ..I visit most of the restaurants you review; thus, plan my vacations around your reviews! LOL...Thank you so much for your time and dedication sharing your food experiences.
Thank you so much and so glad to be back at the Salty’s. We had a chance to visit many many years ago and nice to be back.
"...just because of the cheese". You gawd dam right, Tim!! Cheese is king!!
Don't take the Lord's name in vain
Did you see how much cheese they had on that Caesar salad!?!😋
@@swag94556 There is no god named "Gawd". What are you on about?
@@ninjacrumbs you just spelled it differently so you can say what you want
@@swag94556 As can you "say what you want". Also, your rules don`t apply to me, nor mine to you. Just keep that in mind, take a breath, before becoming authoritative on what 70% of the world doesn`t believe as you do. Just a suggestion....
Looks Delicious! Thanks for another great video Tim.
Thank you so much! They really know how to put on a good buffet. Great prime rib and great seafood chowder.😋
The Complete Buffet with the Prime Beef n Seafood. $90 is Reasonable
Going thru the Stairs to get Food is a Deal Breaker for me😫😫
Sundays 9-2 is also a hurdle🙄
Food & View looks Amazing
As always, thanks for the Video Tim!
👍👍
It is a very good experience and with all the seafood, and especially that prime rib, it was very reasonable, indeed. I forgot to mention that you have a choice of upstairs seating or seating on the ground level.
@@TimLeeLetsGo
Gotcha! i didn't see small tables on the Ground Level, it looked like a bunch of very big tables for big groups/party.
"if" there's Options for Ground Level and "if" that's where the Food is at, i'll always choose the Food Level. 🤣🤣
Easier on the Knees, and besides, after i start eating, i'll pack in 10-20 lbs of food and that ADDS tremendous pressure on the Knees, Joints, ankles, etc... 🤠
I would never do this if I had to sit upstairs
Excellent view of Salty's Buffet. Thank you so much for sharing with us❤. I always get so hungry while watching your content. Lol.
We had a chance to visit salty many years ago and so nice to be back. It’s a little bit more expensive now, but still very good.
@@TimLeeLetsGo I will definitely visit that buffet next time!
Another great buffet, my favorite was the prime rib and seafood crepe with the seafood gravy. 😊
That prime rib was delicious, and I should have asked for a side of hollandaise for the crêpe, but the seafood gravy was wonderful as well
I’m not a seafood person but I could have had a wonderful meal there with so many selections! Thank you Tim for letting me travel with you and sharing another wonderful video. Take a quick nap in the car before you head out. Safe travels and GOD bless!
Me either. I only have seafood for 2 meals a day. Not really into it
This would be a buffet that you should skip. You're paying a premium for seafood. There are places like Golden Corral that are much cheaper.
As Greg said. I go to many high priced seafood buffets. I don't take anyone who doesn't like seafood or has 3 bites of food. Too much $$$ for that. But me the last buffet I did I ate 12 lobsters and 6 and half dungeness and snow crabs. 5 sodas. Prime rib. Clam chowder. A few assorted items and 2 bowls of ice cream and carrot cake. I wasn't very hungry so I cut back.
I think the prime rib would’ve saved the buffet for any non-seafood lover… Really enjoyable and the dessert station was quite spectacular
I've been to Portland once for a day trip but stayed in the city center. Now when I visit again I have some place to check out. As you show mixing items together can have delicious results 😋
Really enjoyed the city centre of Portland as well… I recall voodoo donuts very fondly😋
Me too 🍩😋
Tim, you make the No. 1 buffet videos on the internet. I feel like I'm eating right along with you. Excellent.
Thank you so much for the kind comment. It's an absolute honour to get to share these places
YAY new Tim vids!
Thank you so much and a very happy weekend to you and yours!
@@TimLeeLetsGo aw - thank you! Best wishes from Denmark too! :-)
Tim, Good Brunch. Egg Benedict looked tasty. Shrimp n Grits, hmmn got to try that. Raw oysters inviting. Chowder seemed thick and delicious. Crab legs ahhh. Prime Rib excellently pink n fatty cap. 👍👍 Best
They did a really good job with all the dishes! The Dungeness crab was actually cooked really well, so shelling them was quite easy
Oregon is great. I have to try this buffet next time I'm there.
If you get some time, there are so many waterfalls there. Really enjoyable.
Welcome back home and Happy 🇨🇦 Day. Tim
A very happy Canada Day weekend to you and yours!
I own a housekeeping company and we wear Vessi’s to clean showers and tubs
🙂
I appreciate the fact that as tired as you are, you still give us great content. Wonderful as always 😊 Greetings from Peru 🇵🇪
Warmest, greetings to you from Vancouver! Thank you so much and it was tough with the allergies here in the summertime
Nice to see "Salty's" survived Portland's feckless municipal management of, as Tim coined it so politely, "The World Event." So here we are with "Salty's" back & thriving deliciously in 2024. That in itself is simply AMAZING!
lol, that’s one way to put it… glad to see the Buffet living on
Thank you Tim. Excellent review as always. 😊 ❤
Hope you feel better soon!❤ Thank you for the video.
Lovely classic buffet. Nice you got down there. A motivated man getting up at 5:00 am to drive down. For once I am not too jealous because I have me a whole Dungeness crab for dinner. I'll have the legs and pick out the chest meat. I'll use that for stuffed mushrooms tomorrow. Prime rib did look amazing. Happy Sunday from a partly cloudy Corvallis Oregon.
A very happy Sunday to you as well! A nicely cooked Dungeness crab is certainly a great meal! Looks like it’s providing multiple meals too😋😋😋
Tim Tim Tim - a ton of carbs haha - bagal, potatoes, chowder (twice), muffin w/ eggs benedict, biscuit & gravy, potato hash, grits, rice, more gravy. Nevertheless, looks like you enjoyed which is all that counts.
Yeah, it was a bit too much carbs for sure. I normally don’t go for the biscuits and gravy, but just couldn’t help it.
@@TimLeeLetsGo I know that sentiment at a great buffet - "couldn't help it". Good job.
This was a fantastic looking buffet. You can't beat the view. Hope you have a Happy Canada Day. Cheers, Tim and God Bless! 👍🏻👍🏻✌️🇨🇦
Thx Tim, another great video. I love watching your content you are such a respectful person ❤❤❤❤😅
Thank you so much🙏 a very happy Sunday to you and yours!
Legendary seafood buffet is back and so fire 🔥🔥🔥😋😋😋
Thank you so much again! It's nice to see them coming back!!!
Long live Salty's! What a buffet!! I will overlook that you skipped the mac and cheese. Thank you, Tim.
Oh, I would’ve gone back for the macaroni and cheese🤦♂️😉
Tim you are driving me crazy, your description of the food that you are eating is making my mouth water. You make it sound so good that I want to jump into the video and join you. Keep up explaining the various foods as most of them I'll never get a chance to try them out. So I'll enjoy the dishes through you and your great videos😋😋😋😁
Thank you so much! They did such a good job with the buffet...really glad they re-opened everything up!
Great to see you in Portland!
Great looking buffet. Nice video. Thanks for taking us back there.
Happy its back in Portland. Whoa, $90! It was around $65 back in 2019. I'm sad it's still missing in Alki! 😢
Things have certainly gotten more and more expensive. I recall it was around the $50 - $60 mark as well many many years ago. Still very good though...loved the prime rib and the crab!
Thanks Tim for the video! I was not aware the Sunday brunch is back. I really enjoy Salty brunch and will definitely go there.
Really nice to see it coming back. Very enjoyable and beautiful views.
I've had the brunch at Salty's on Alki in Seattle and the food, service, and the views of Seattle are fantastic!
Great food and great people there! Feels like southern hospitality on the West Coast
: ) thANKS MUCH for sharing, I have only been to the one in West Seattle on Alki years ago. BUT it was wonderful with Salmon Hash : ) ENJOY and ALL the BEST ! ! Cheers : )
Bless you too! Take care of your allergies and I hope you feel better. I know that is no fun. Great looking buffet.
Best part of being a long term viewer is knowing all the names you bring up and seeing you revisit gems you were passionate about!
I'm shocked you considered a two hour commute "In the area", but it seems well worth it!
Just a note, the "salmon" you had seemed to all be labeled as steelhead which is a trout. Do you find they share a similar taste?
Sunday fun day with Tim. You're awesome ❤
Tim, you make everything look so good.❤❤❤
Super yummy buffet!!
You can never beat Australian sea food l feel have fun love you show .🦋🦋💜
Great video as always 👍👍look so yummy 😋
Thank you so much🙏
Wow, everything looks delicious 🤤🥰🥹🤤🥰🥹🤤🥰🥹!
It’s nice to see this Buffet back in action😋
A little early for a buffet? Especially after a 5 am drive? LOL
That drive was a killer!
I am so amuzed watching you with so much appetite..
Oh, I was a bit tired and hungry that day… But since most of it was seafood, it was mainly shells so there wasn’t a lot of food in the end
Lee Ty’s fr sharing yr videos with us stay safe yummy yummy
Thank you so much! If you’re in Oregon, it would highly recommend salty’s😋
I love seafood, but as someone who has made living in the South my home, I was shocked to hear you said seafood gravy. I thought they had good old biscuits and sausage gravy when I first saw it. But after my initial shock wore of I can see that they would put a spin on my favorite breakfast dish. It did look good so, and I'm sure I would like it. Shrimp and grits are also a great dish.
Like some people mentioned here. The stairs would be my problem, but glad to hear they had lower seating as well. They should howerver give people that go on the top floor a discount 😂😂
I do enjoy a nice sausage gravy… Leave it to Portland to make it their own… Really tasty though. Thank you so much🙏
I had no idea this place existed. Thanks for posting.
It was a nice discovery many years back and glad they brought back the buffet!!!
The seafood looks delicious!!!!!
Hi Tim the buffet looks soooooo delicious I Enjoy watching you enjoy the food can't wait until you visit las Vegas again 😅😅
Thank you Calvin! Really great buffet here, but nothing beats the Vegas buffets ;-)
I don't make desserts - I cook savory only - but my partner LOVES carrot cake so going to attempt making that this weekend. Thanks Tim xx
A very happy weekend to you! And happy baking. Really do enjoy the carrot cake.. although wasn’t too healthy with all the cream cheese frosting
Great video! Hope to get to try it sometime soon!
Would highly recommend it if you’re in the area… Though it is a bit on the pricey side
Looked so good. Nice video.
Great videos Tim huge Canadian fan.
I didn’t realize Salty’s Seafood buffet is back! I lived just a few blocks from this location 🤣thanks for an updated Tim❤️👌
Oh Tim, there's a Salty's in West Seattle. You could have saved yourself a heck of a drive by just going to Alki Beach.
Did our (West Seattle) restart the buffet?!!
@@mrgreen9900 I believe so!
Can’t wait until Alki brings back brunch buffet.
Going up stairs is different. Haha. Looked delicious Tim! Hope you got some rest after eating! 😊😊😊
Yeah, taking a nap after the buffet was quite easy to do😉
lol
Tim Lee is the baller of You Tube buffets
He not reviewing Golden Corral
Lol😂
Oh, please don’t get me wrong. If there is a golden corral nearby, I am there!😋😋😋
Wonderful video! ❤❤❤
Thank you so much for your kind comment🙏
Tiiim 😃
🙏🙏🙏
That's a nice looking place. Biscuits and gravy and grits? i'm sold... hope you feel better my allergies are still wrecking me as well and they apparently have decided to be all they can be and become a sinus infection. relax and watch a Tim video that should help
Good luck on your all allergies as well! I wonder if I have a sinus infection with all the sneezing and coughing. I’m still struggling with it at the moment.😉
@@TimLeeLetsGovery much possible but hopefully not
The one item I will never try is that rubbery clams. But, buffet looks awesome ❤
I miss their Redondo Beach brunch...
I enjoy watching u eating good food while I am eating an egg salad sandwich on rye bread. Safe travels and congratulations to your friend daughter going to college. God bless always. 😊😊😂🙏
Thank you so much and a very happy weekend to you! I could use an egg salad sandwich right about now😋
not sure if asking for the fatty part from the fatty is the best move little timmy hahah
🤦♂️😉
I just wish you'd go for most expensive items to get the most bang for your buck.
I am kicking myself for not getting more of the crab. A crab omelet would’ve been nice
@TimLeeLetsGo yeah! That crab looked absolutely delicious. I still love your videos though!!
Tim, a lot of nurses are wearing Vessi these days. Happy Canada Day!
A very happy Canada Day to you too! Yeah, even walking to the office, they are quite nice, especially since it rains a lot where I’m from.
Lol, my schedule just changed so I can't hit up this place for months because I work all day 😢. It looks so good!
Oh no! But fantastic work ethic to work through the weekend!
As an Aussie I do not get 'biscuits and gravy' - to us like the English those are scones - and you have cream and strawberry jam with them! Haha
I could do with a few scones and a cuppa tea!
Wow, what a great buffet!! Hollandaise would have been so much better on that seafood crepe!!
Oh! I should’ve asked for a side of hollandaise🤦♂️😋
Saltys has been around forever. I took my prom date there about 39 years ago. 😱
Such a great and wonderful place… Still has its charm
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👍🙂🍽🍽🍽🍽😋🍽😋😋🍽😋 we will be in Portland in August.i just now recognize that restaurant 😀we ate there once but not on Sunday.
The desserts look good.
They do an amazing job with the desserts! If you get a chance to visit, the raspberry moose cake was delicious
Great review, Tim! How did you know we’re fans of Biscuit & Gravy?? lol. Thanks for the shoutout.
These biscuits were quite light but had a nice crust... I recall. you all had some disappointing ones recently...
@@TimLeeLetsGo Yes, most recently was on the cruise ship. Those biscuits brought a new meaning to the word dry. lol
Same Salty's as the one on Alki Beach in West Seattle? You could've saved yourself a long drive!
You did so well - powering through your hayfever to make this video.
Very nice 🤠
Thank you🙏
They should've provided a tong for the desserts to maintain cleanliness.
Seriously? That's the comment that you thought was necessary? Tongs get messy!
@@gregdrivesdriver5104 Vast majority of buffets provide tongs for everything (regular food or desserts). 'Tongs get messy' is lame answer. How is using tongs LESS CLEAN ?!!
Yeah, I had to double check first if it was OK to use your hands
Like the vinegar based sauces,,, Tobasco and Crystal...
A little bit of tabasco made all the difference!
food is good 😃
Is the $90 with or without tax.as in uk its all.included
No sales tax in Oregon
The, price is worth it.
Most, definitely on my bucket list 🤩😍🤩😍🤩😍🤩😍🤩😍❤️!
I must say, that Dungeness crab was cooked to perfection and really fresh. Really enjoyable indeed.
Seattle to Portland is usually 5 hours, but Sunday morning at 5 am? yeah 3 hours is reasonable
No I5 traffic 😁
My favorite is the eggs Benedict and the meats. 😋
Yeah, I tend to skip the clams at a buffet. That prime rib, and the Dungeness crab were worth the price of admission… Almost.😉
Tim I think you ate more here than at the Linh Cafe!
😋😋😋
At that price point my first course would be A whole plate of Oysters 🦪
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
🙏🙏🙏
how about some of the chowder on the crepe? So many options😊
Oh, that chowder was delicious 😋
You went through my city on the way to Portland Oregon
Was it Olympia or Seattle?
Personally I like my steelhead trout fried, dyed and laid to the side.
Hey Tim where you putting all that food 😁
Yuuuummm. Love seafood, just can't afford it!
It is quite pricey! The price has certainly gone up since the last time I was there
