Here’s what I feel. How things unfolded for him is truly unfortunate and sad. I really liked him and always found him to be charming, sweet and talented. He had his entire career ahead of him, a good and successful one that too. But to blame the Bollywood industry for whatever happened just doesn’t make sense. Not saying that the industry is perfect, it is flawed and many things happen internally. But these are things we aren’t aware about. We may never know what actually goes on inside, so making assumptions about it is pointless and not worth your time. In this case there’s no doubt that sex took place, Shiney himself agreed to it. So one of the three things has possibly happened, first is that he did rape her, second is that they had consensual sex that she later labeled as rape (for whatever motive), and the third is that it could have been that Shiney and this maid were having consensual sex for a while. On the particular day of the incident though, maybe the actor got a little wild or aggressive, or maybe she didn’t like something so she resisted but he kept going on. To him it may have seemed like it was okay since both of them agreed to it in the beginning. But to her it felt forced since she wanted it to stop. Anyhow we don’t exactly know what happened so it’s best to not throw accusations around. In any case though, you can’t deny that he did make a mistake here, he cheated on his wife. No doubt he’s handsome, sweet, and talented, but that does not give you a free pass to cheat on your partner. Infidelity is infidelity. That’s why it’s always so important to thinks about consequences before you do something.
Finally, found a sane comment in this section. I can't believe people are blaming Bollywood for Shiney's own actions. Yes, he himself admitted to sleeping with the maid, so he definitely was cheating on his wife.
The only problem here is had Shiney had good connections inside the film industry, he'd have been able to get out of this mess in a much better manner (better lawyer, better PR, better statements). But saying it was the film industry's idea to trap him just sounds too much.
