    Anyone who has been paying attention will have noticed that Lindholm has been playing very well in Vancouver. Yes,he hasn’t been scoring a lot,but since he has recovered from injury,he has been a force in the face off circle and his defensive game is on point as well.

    • @mrquirky3626
      @mrquirky3626 Месяц назад +8

      Plus his defensive game has been consistent with the Canucks even if his offensive play hasn't. Tocchet always has him out there killing penalties and defending the lead in the last minute so he clearly has trust in Lindholm. Kuzy couldn't do that.

    • @ratiquette
      @ratiquette Месяц назад +2

      I think "good defensive game" goes in one ear and out the other with the sort of person who complains about Lindholm. Some people just don't understand why that's good, how it impacts the tone of a series, and the sorts of wins it enables. They don't look at the way the Canucks keep winning games with like half the SOG as the team they beat. How is that possible? They are good in their own zone without the puck; they minimize high danger chances, break up plays when the other team tries to get fancy, and force them to shoot when the goalie is ready. Lindholm is arguably their best forward at this. Myers, who gets a lot of heat from the fanbase, has been doing a lot of this type of work with his telephone pole as well. But the complainers glaze over and forget those plays immediately.

      All his critics seem to have slinked off back to hide under their beds. Some of them were calling it the worst Vancouver trade ever. EDIT: one thing I have noticed about his game since he got here, even though he has not scored much, he has consistently been an absolute pest, always dogging the opposition forwards. May not make the highlights but he has been very effective.

    Lindholm is a hell of a player, most people just look at stat line but he does everything well. You have to realize that playing a few year's in the NHL takes it's toll, and he was just a bit beat up this year. Now he's starting to play the way he can play.

    Can say similar about mittlestadt. A lot of people said hes a 3C and Colorado was foolish for nabbing him to fill their 2C hole to fix the johansen problem. Now mitts is centering the line that has carried them through round 1. Literally outperforming mackinnons line(because drouin is hurt and the jets are focused on silencing mac). The ammount hes stepped up for his first playoff games is genuinely impressive. I dont even think fans that were very familiar with him saw that coming, hes been a joy to watch in playoff hockey and its such a treat that we get to watch him more.

    This entire video rides on the distinct possibility of them being ousted in the 1st round. Remember, NSH had a 3-1 lead they pissed away to lose game 4. That series "should" have been 2-2 at that time, but it's now, 3-2 VAN.
    Vancouver isn't as much in control as people tend to think they are. I'm not denying credit to Vancouver for tying that game late, with little time and winning in OT. It was commendable. What I am saying though is, Nashville is more in control than the numbers appear to show right now, and they are going back home for game 6.
    All things considered, NSH "should" be up 3-2 in this series, but they are not. Those are the bounces. In short, just don't expect NSH to be doing VAN any more favours like that, and to be extra keen on making sure of it.
    Vancouver still has momentum, but game 6, is essentially must-win for them. A team with such little experience in playoff adversity as them, going back home to play game 7 against a veteran, and solid Nashville? Well, I don't like their chances in that showdown.
    So, ya, if Vancouver pisses this series away, and Lindholm leaves in the off-season, well, all those comments about overpay, will have been correct. Too soon to tell just yet.
    Edit: I should state, I'm not trying to rustle any feathers. Not trying to get a rise out of anyone with this comment. It's simply my take on it. I want Vancouver to win. We need at least 2/4 CAN teams moving on.......... I hope. 🍻

His forecheck that led to Joshua’s goal which was 12 seconds after they have scored the tying goal to take the lead. His pass to Boeser to get within a goal in game 4. I still maintain Calgary got a decent haul for Lindy and it did look like the Canucks got screwed. But the final nail to determine that would be the playoffs.
    And I think people forget just how hard Lindy worked during the Flames' 2021-22 run. The guy put goals in 3 of our first 4 games against Dallas, and assisted in that crucial Game 5 where we were down 1-0 for so long. Most notably, who helped set up Johnny's game 7 winning goal? Lindy. Fires it on Otter, puck rebounds off to the corner where Johnny has it all to himself.

    Not only that, Lindholm's 2-way game is way better than Kuzy. As a Canucks fan, we all love Kuzy, but the 200 foot game goes to Lindholm every day. He finished 15-5 in the face off circle as well.

    Overpay? There’s no way Kuzmenko would see the same ice time or be deployed in the same situations as Lindholm has been

  • @JTD3
    @JTD3 Месяц назад

    If Kuzmenko wasn't working with Van's system then it's not an overpay. Lind has upwards of 70% in the faceoffs this playoffs, 2 goals and rarely turns over pucks. Kuzmenko was getting healthy scratched. Anyone who thinks it's an overpay isnt paying attention

    It was a win win for both teams. Kuz wouldnt be seeing the ice in van in key situations. He is a great offensive player which will aid the flames. Im happy for the guy, hes such a good character. Its too bad we wont have the money to sign Lindholm after the season, but I think the Canucks always viewed him as a back up option if they couldnt sign Petterson

    The guy is walking away and that alone makes it an overpayment. I don't care what he does in playoffs. We're not getting far with Pettersson playing like crap. Lindholm refused 8 mill with Calgary at almost 30 of age. Basically we gave away kuzmenko, 1st pick, defensive prospect, another prospect and the 4th. Massive overpayment which with Patterson signing , possible hronek ( marshmallow) overpayment will come back to hunt us. Serves the management right for pressuring Bambi into signing the contract. Could've had him for millions less, trade him or give him qualifying offer. He wasn't going anywhere. Same as Lindholm, gave too much for a few months of renting the same. People are still fooled to believe that we can achieve to win the cup. That 4th game was the worst game I've ever seen from Canucks. Hughes was hit constantly, we couldn't do anything without him entering the o zone. That game alone was a proof that without Hughes at his best we're just helpless. Hat off for not surrendering and pulling an impossible. The management in opinion rushed thinking they can win the cup in one year after sucking for 10 and more years. They just want money, charging $2000 and more for one freeking ticket. The owner doesn't care about the cup.

  • @colnando

    STILL way over pay IMO. If Lindholm keeps scoring big goals in the playoffs and we aren't eliminated soon, then maybe it was an OK trade... but I'd still rather have Kuzy and my draft picks back

    I see smoke and mirrors. Connor is a great goalie, but he’s not great under pressure, this is twice in a row now. The Jets’ defense is good but they can’t stop the juggernauts of the Avs or Golden Knights. Maybe some defensive restructuring is in order, they definitely scored enough goals to win most games

    If the Canucks don't win a cup here and/or Lindholm doesn't resign then it's a massive overpay, there's literally no other way to look at it. Him scoring a garbage (albeit clutch) goal doesn't change that. However, contenders overpay at the deadline to try and win, that's how the market has always worked. It can be an overpay and still be a good trade for the Canucks, they're not mutually exclusive. Flames are already happy with the return, if Lindholm works out and the Canucks are happy then who gives a dam if it was an overpay or not?

    Theres a different level of fans which makes "media" weird. You have the casuals who know they don't know all that much, The casuals who think they understand hockey but haven't played or tried to learn the systems, and former players & true fans that understand the psychology behind trades and not just what the numbers mean. Guys who can identify holes in rosters. There's a lot more casual fans which is why their opinions are echoed more it seems, but i feel like any actual fan of the sport can just judge a trade immediately and know the winners and losers. Look at the rangers and Andrew Copp, Nobody understood why but the guy is a playoff dog. That definitely plays a factor into why a team needs him.

    Lindholm was an overpay, and they did get fleeced. I'm not sure at all he'd be doing that well without his linemates. He's barely noticeable, and on the third line at that (his linemates sure are noticeable) and is losing mass face-offs. Something that was supposed to be his specialty.
    What he is doing, that mitigates all that, is he doesn't panic. No panic means timely goals. Timely playoff goals.
    If they win the cup, the rental was worth it.
