But actually Christmas day on december 25 coincide to the March 25 or the Feast of Anunciation celebrated by Catholic. No one knows Jesus birth because it was not stated. Yet we all know that God provided signs on how we can trace christmas day. Not through seasons but through the coming of another biblical character who was called to be Elijah who is to prepare the way of the Lord, John the Baptist. Although John's coming was not also stated in the bible yet there was an event that happened in Judea that only occur once per year which marks the date of the concetion of John the Baptist. According to the first chapter of Luke's gospel, Angel Gabriel appeared to a certain Priest named Zechariah which was under the division of Abijah. Fun facts, during the time of David, he established 24 division of priests serving the temple annually. And Abijah is the 8th division. And according to Jewish Historian, division of Abijah served at the temple every Yom Kippor or Day of Atonement together with the division of Hakkoz the 7th division, and that will fall between september 22-30 of our calendar. Remember as well that during Yom Kippur there are 2 priests that serve which chosen through a lot. 1 priest from Hakkoz and one priest from Abijah. One will be the one to offer the sacrifices one will going inside the temple and burn incense. According to Luke, Zecharias lot fell to burn incense so he need to enter the holy of holies. And soon thereafter, an Angel appeared to him saying that his wife Elizabeth will concieved a child. And after the service when he got home he found out that his wife really did concieved. Therefore, the conception of John was on the Day of Atonement. But why the Day of Atonement? Day of Atonement or Yum kippur from the "kippuring" means "cleansing" it is holiest day and only a festival celebrated for one day. This is the day which people bring sacrifices to the temple to atone for their sins, through sacrifices and incense, the people are cleanse from sin. Day of Atonement is the Day chosen for the conception of John because "he is to prepare the way of God, and to give knowledge of salvation to His people through REMISSION OF SIN" (Luke 1:76-77) And by the way, the symbol of John is water Baptism which symbolizes CLEANSING or Kippuring" Why it is important to know John's conception? Because in the same gospel we were told that on the sixth month of Elizabeth's pregnancy. Angel Gabriel again appeared to a woman named Mary. So lets count. September is the month of John's conception. So the first month would be; 1st- October 2nd-November 3rd-December 4th-January 5th- February 6th-March that's the 6th month. And by the way, March is the first month of Jewish calendar. And that is the month of the passover, days between March 20-April 20. Some scholar believes that the AD 33 passover taken place March 25. So Catholic Church believed that march 25 of AD 33 coincide to the conception of Jesus in March 25 of AD 1. Why March 25? Agains since it was passover and Jesus Himself is the passover lamb. The conception of Him reveal His mission on earth. To be sacrificed as a lamb for all sins. It is interesting that the day of conception is the same as the day of His crufixion and death. So from March + 9 months. It will fall to December. That is why we Catholics, celebrate christmas day on Dec 25 not because of nothingness. It was really studied. But before Emperor Augustus came, there was no August on the calendar. We only have 11 months before. But the March + 9 months was already celebrated. Yet it was celebrated not in December but in January. The first christian celebrated Christmas at January. But after August was added on the Roman Calendar, christmas also moved from january to december. Many people will say, December is too cold to have shepherd outside. Yes it is too cold but not in Israel. We can also plainly read that during winter time Jesus still manage to travel and teach in the temple (John 10:22-23) And at the same time, December is the month which Jews celebrates the FEAST DAY OF DEDICATION. Which by the day called also FEAST OF LIGHT. And Jesus is the Light, so that feast mark the day of salvation from darkness. Sensus. They said, that census would have impossible to occur during december. That is even more possible. Because the month of November is the month Jews celebrates the FEAST OF THE TABERNACLE which by the day, all of Israel gathered around the temple and set up tents where they will stayed for 7 days. So that's the best part of Census because everyone will be going to Jerusalem to gather with the biggest festival. And Feast of Tabernacle occur between the last week of November and ends in the month of December. So that explain why when Mary and Joseph went to Betlehem, most of inns are full. Why? Because the Feast was done and all the tents were no more. People now will be staying indoor and waiting for another festivity, the Feast of Light or feast of Dedication. So make sense.

I am still not fond into this awkward celebration of Christmas, our tradition is to go in Cinema and watch MMFF movies (prohibited and cancelled), complete Simbang Gabi (its so stricttttt) but the thing I love is there is no aquinaldo hahahaha. I have a lot of Godchild that I need to give gifts or moneys but due to pandemic, kids cannot go outside lol so my money is saved HAHAHAHA
