Genuinely one of the best game themes of all time, it oozes evil, but has those small nobler moments representing the moments where the Overlord needs to heroic. Could be reading into it, but this theme is just fantastic.
It truly makes you realise the concept of yin and yang light within darkness yet darkness within light. Just like the series as a whole(besides the minions and that weird netherghul spin offs) makes you question what is evil.
The Overlord and his minions are evil, but there are other evils in the world as well. There's only room for one big evil, all the other contenders will simply have to die : )
See, this is what made me love rpg games. At 12 i was already kind of bored of choosen one and hero stories, they were EVERYWHERE, and STILL ARE. But then this underrated masterpiece appeared in my life... and i understand what i wanted in games. We miss you overlord saga, please come back.
God I’d even be satisfied with remasters or remakes of the original 2 games mediEvil style. Just the idea of being able to play the games at more than 20 FPS sounds like a dream come true

This is how a sequel theme is supposed to work, hints of the original with waaay more over the top displays to emphasize just how much more glorious this adventure is going to be. Loved both games.
Next game they should give the Overlord a mount and beef up the red and blue minions a bit and also bring back the armor upgrading from the first Overlord game and have it where you can choose between the races you want to be from halflings to dwarves to elves and finally introduce gunpowder for flavor, but keep the fantasy genre in it's full glory with all sorts of creatures and magic, like Warhammer fantasy in a sense.
It really sucks both The Overlord and his Minions have been usurped by two different overlord and minions. Maybe one day his dark highness will return to lay waste to the world again. Until then we can only hope for his arrival

+ProduccionesPaquito It's one of those games that gets as much right as it gets wrong. Minions control/path better, the mounts system was a great addition, the minion form sections were well done and the inclusion of sea battles was good (albeit shortlived). However, the enemy variation was lacking, the story felt like it was missing something and none on the boss fits felt anywhere as good as they did in 1.
***** Yes, the bosses were way more interesting in the first game although I didn't see coming the twist with the emperor at the end. There were also many mechanics poorly executed but overall the game was for me more enjoyable than the first one. That and I love the theme and main character concept. Feels good to be bad ;)
IMO even if it's because of the scenario I felt the game lacked magicness, i mean in the first we had monsters, elves dwarves and other magical things like zombies but here it was romans, romans and hippy elves and ugly fairies well... That killed a lot of the immersion.
One of the most underrated games I've played, the Pikminlike gameplay is great for an evil Overlord, it has a lot of funny things (sometimes with a kinda dark humor, obviously), the mind control from Overlord II is a mechanic I just love, and... THE EPIC MUSIC!

There will be no continuation, the copyright holder is an idiot who released a couple of crap games and gave up on the series, and the developers split off long ago and are working on a different genre of games

I'm currently in Everlight, just beat the spider and Fay's golem, hated the Golem, and the way up after the big spider fight. The golem cuz I ended up just having to sit at the entrance where it couldn't reach me and had my red minions just lay down fire upon it for 10 minutes...and way up from the spider fight cuz dear god was that annoying as hell.
Unpopular opinion: Overlord was the good guy. (or at least not as bad) He has a duty to care for his minions. He must lead them. Kinda like Sauron in the Lord of the rings. These people have a duty. However in Overlord your enemies are genuine bad guys or idiots. One or the other. Maybe besides a few things (which are mainly for comedic purposes) there is an argument that Overlord is a good guy. Or at least can be if you play him right.
Now with codemasters last choice for the franchise and its selling to EA I'm not sure we will ever get another game and its so sad, I suggest creating a petition for it tho
