I've only just come across Larry by chance. I am slightly younger than him but had to give up playing the tenor about 2 years ago for health reasons after playing it since I was 17. Lester Young had a philosophy - does it tell a story. Larry's improvisations certainly does that together with a classic tenor tonal quality.
We had the supreme pleasure of seeing Larry McKenna perform with the legendary Barry Harris at the William Paterson College Performing Arts Center today, 10/14/18. We have loved Barry Harris for many years and now we can add Larry McKenna. What a fabulous performance this afternoon.
yes mr. but for me the reed saxophone has a huge impact on the sound of the saxophone. like mr. Larry mckenna it's good. practice but do not like the type of sound it will be in vain.

Larry is one of my heroes!! I had the privilege of studying with him for 4 years! Can't find a nicer man!

@@johantanjung4905he uses orange box Rico like size 2 or 3. Doesn’t seem to work very hard but gets a huge sound
