Totally ridiculous !.....Although I remember being somewhat fond of "Johnny" around 1963 ...with songs like "Pour Moi La Vie Va Commancer", and especially its flip side "A Plein Coeur"....which was a rocker as good as any by Cliff Richard or Elvis.....The statesman send off this bloke got, as being France's national property, is to put it mildly ...laughable....."Jean Marie Vacance"..also known as "Johnny Hollyday" had to rely for most of his repertoire on cliché covers, and barely wrote anything of significance of his own......Any major European hit was fair game for "Johnny" to get on the bandwagon...Another example of France's desperation lately to wave something 'truly' of her own.... I mean....even true artists like Prince or David Bowie, didn't merit (or even wanted to) such a send off....... "Johnny" 🙄..doing his version of the "Tutti Frutti" twist on his way to France's national mausoleum and got himself a place in the Panthéon.....🏛🤪\ In some ways it's enlightning that France , normally shamelessly chauvinistic to the point of annoyance, so totally embraced this cliché USA Rock'n Roll copycat.........
