    Just to clarify, I don’t for a second think that I am faster or better than Danny Hart. Danny is at the top of his game, and one of the best riders in the world!
    I’m just trying to improve on my own performance using Danny’s time as a reference.
    Plus, I failed 😜

    My experience of Top Chief: I was on my second (ever) run of it, very last gondola of the day up, no one behind me - I got a flat tire just after the boardwalk and couldn't break the bead for the life of me (thankfully a member of staff did eventually come down and help out - legend), two minutes later I face planted. With my confidence shot I slowly and cautiously made my way down the rest of the trail.
    Can't wait to go back.

      @McTrailRider  4 года назад

      Yep, completely rideable the whole way.
      I will warn you of the GoPro effect though, I’m sure you will manage it no problem, but it may be harder than the video would have you think.
      I’ve been caught out with the GoPro effect a few times now 😳

    • @thelittleadventures3289
      @thelittleadventures3289 4 года назад

      @@McTrailRider Thanks for that :) Between the GoPro effect and the speed you were carrying (with a lot more skill than I have), I am sure it is a lot tougher than it looks.

      I’d actually argue that it becomes harder at slower speeds in places, the wheels get caught up easier on the rocks and holes.

    I crashed on the section at 7:10 today.Writing this comment whilst having a few sore ribs. Getting the line right is so so difficult especially on a 27.5. I previously did it on a 29 and it was bit more forgiving on that rock slab - less spaces to get front wheel "caught!"

    I use Strava too but it can ruin an otherwise fun ride😁 Like you, I use it as a measure of my current fitness and skill level depending on whether it’s a tech or XC type trail. Plus, I love to geek out on the data after my rides🙂. Nice job!

    Hi love the videos I was wondering what are the 2 or 3 camera angles you use helmet and chest but was wondering what the one where you can see the bike and helmet was or do you have a video on your camera angles?

    • @McTrailRider
      @McTrailRider  3 года назад +1

      I used two different angles for this video, the first and main one is my GoPro mounted to the chin bar of my full face helmet. The second one is an Insta360 chest mounted, which gives an unusual but very immersive view.

    Good effort! I keep hearing this is harder than the DH track. I'll hopefully get to ride it next year but I'll be sure not to stop in the middle of the track when checking out the line choices 🧐

    • @MattSB2588
      @MattSB2588 4 года назад +1

      Harder than the DH track, no. Its long though.

    • @McTrailRider
      @McTrailRider  4 года назад +1

      I’d agree that this track is harder than the Dh track at any given speed. Ben Cathro thinks so too.
      The Dh track does get much tougher at higher speeds though, and then there’s the optional huge jumps at the end.

  • @seanoneil277
    @seanoneil277 4 года назад

    That was great & I'd agree with you about 10-20secs and lean more toward 20. You got held up significantly on 2 occasions and the one with the wee lad put you off line enough to make you slower for sure. Great riding, especially in the continual rock stretches. I wonder if a trail like this, with 8+ min DH times, isn't one place where clips (vs flats) maybe could improve your times. A lot of small foot/ankle/calf resting can happen with clips, especially on that sustained rocky stuff where you have to do pedaling, or lots of weighting/unweighting. I prefer flats myself, especially for descending, but if I was chasing DH times I think I'd have to clip in.

    • @McTrailRider
      @McTrailRider  4 года назад +1

      I think clips are faster in most race/endurance type scenarios, this one definitely included. I’ve never used them though, and I wouldn’t want to try them on this trail for the first time😬
