@@AwkwardJump count me in, I love DMC 2 too and for all its flaws, I'd argue it's still a much better game than vanilla NG 3. At least you had variety in firearms and amulets to equip. Besides, you can play as 3 different characters with their own sword moves. Vanilla NG 3 will be the same throughout. Day 1 was enough to see everything, really.
@@AwkwardJump I do recommend going on the highest difficulty when you do try it, because it is easier than any of the other Ninja Gaiden games even then.
The sole reason I bought a copy of vanilla 3 is to do a challenge run using only the PS Move hahaha But glad that you at least tried it before saying it's a bad game. Always good to try things for ourselves :) Loved the video!
Yup, OG Ninja Gaiden 3 is absolutely awful. But thankfully Razor's Edge improves (almost) every single aspect of it. Feels almost like a completely different game, and has my favorite combat system in the entire trilogy. Still depressed we haven't seen a Ninja Gaiden 4. It's been 12 years already.
@@AwkwardJumpI have to admit it, though-RE *is* worth playing. There are more weapons than just the sword, more Ninpo than just Inferno, the Crystal Skulls/Ninja Trials are fun, there’s actually delimbs and decaps, but the best part? The best part is the British terrorists who repeatedly scream “FOCK YOO!” throughout the London stage.
3:15 I agree with you 100%. Lack of weapons, ninpo, enemies types aren't varied or interesting enough, the locations you explore are less interesting, The steel on bone mechanic triggers randomly and interrupts the flow of combat. There is a good foundation of a game here, but there is an extreme disconnect to why the previous entries are held to such acclaim.
It's crazy how much slower this game was compared to the Razors Edge version, I will say RE is a lot of fun but the last act and a half are kind of a slog imo
A-s in did, but I still complete this game 2 times. NG3 RE better game, have new mechanics, more than one nimpo, new enemies, secrets on levels. It's actually good game
See we told you that you've seen everything by the end of Day 1. You will only have the sword and the bow (and the shurikens I guess) so the gameplay won't change even if you meet some new enemies along the way. It will remain the same thing. That was the entire vanilla NG 3 unfortunately.
I do love Ayane telling Ryu casually that Hayate's sword is 'a loaner, so don't break it'. XD Felt like I had some similar issues with bits of Ninja Gaiden 2 as well, but a lot more prominent in 3, though it had some good boss fights in there eventually. I wouldn't mind taking a stab at Razor's Edge someday, maybe, but I'm more wishing for a new Ninja Giaden that can mix the better parts of the stuff they've done up until now. Look and feel of NG2/3 and such are great, but I miss the defensive side of the game in NG1 as well as fewer enemies with more individual threat. I agree that endless enemies sucks. Also yeah, I prefer that Ninpo went back to having multiple spells you can just choose to use when you need it, not the way 3 did it. Also, I forgot about that damn attack plane. XD
@@theoaremevano3227 I see. Wish you a lot of fun on Black Myth: Wukong in advance. If you're interested in other hack-and-slash/character action/beat-em-up type games, albeit in a different branch and style from Ninja Gaiden, which *are* 3D, perhaps the following may be of interest: - Soulstice (like a mix of DmC, DMC5, bits of Bayonetta and tone that i'd describe as being like Darksiders. Has some inspirations from the mangas Berserk and Claymore too) - Genokids - Clash: Artifacts of Chaos (prequel to the Zeno Clash games, has you finding different art styles rather than unique special weapons) - Gori: Cuddly Carnage - Perhaps Kings of Hell as well. Want to mention Immortal: And the Death that Follows as well. It's from a 2D perspective, but 3D environments and characters. A friend of mine described it as a Hindu Mad Max Beat-em-up.
The first mistake was giving the enemies steel bones (or whatever it's called. It's when body parts don't come apary when they should). The second mistake was not giving access to other weapons other than the sword and the bow, as if players wouldn't have gotten bored with those two after a while, and Ninja Gaiden isn't known for it's diversity when it comes to weapons and switching them out mid-fight to pull of sick moves. The third mistake was making fighting the enemies feel repetitive-in one of the famous hack and slash games at that. There was barely any difference in enemy type, so once you've done a couple of levels, you've pretty much experience all the enemies had to offer. The harder difficulty for the game doesn't make it any better because now the enemies, who become a chore to fight, have more health and hit harder. And the story was average. But then again, i think most people play Ninja Gaiden for the power trip rather than its writing, so that's whatever. Fortunately, Razor's Edge fixed most of this. Unfortunately, by the time Razor's Edge came out, the damage was already done.
@@AwkwardJump it is, definitely. They put actual work into it and the multiplayer was really fun. Ayane is a better Ninja than Ryu, and has better combos. They also give you more weapons like the previous game and the ninjutsu isn't just a giant dragon anymore. You have to build up to the more powerful stuff. The enemies are still ass though. They also give you missions to do from previous games, but much much harder.. Here's a tip though. You don't need to unlock the Izuna drop. Use it. A lot.
Razors edge was the first NG game i ever played and I love it. Im just trying to get all techniques and costumes for every character now. Then I'll try to beat the game on ultimate ninja,
Razors' edge is an improvement but still not as good as 1 and 2. This is unfortunate since razors edge is the only game that has kasumi alongside the other Shinobi girls. So in order to get to the fun stuff of razor's edge, you have to suffer painful gameplay.

It's not fun, because you don't know the basic mechanics of this game like every other people bashing Ninja Gaiden 3. Try X (weak attack) B (shuriken) slide toward enemy (which will flip him) then Y This will initiate the steel on bone attack, and you can chain by continuously hitting X. Works on the common terrorists, and bloodied human type enemies) And each enemy type has specific method of defeating them. For the army men, try X + A (wind run aka homing jump) + A (step on their head) then Y for backward flying swallow (insta kill) Armored dudes, you can use Talon's claw and do double flying swallow (bounce once and hit Y again for backstabs) Stealth dudes, use shuriken to stun then wind run + flying swallow. (this tactic works on the army men as well) For the digimon guys try X X Y (hold) then release. It'll knock them down to the ground, then you can go forward Y to finish them with Izuna drop. There will be brutes in later levels, which can be easily dealt with landing 360 degree Y with Eclipse Scythe. If you're just using the dragon sword, just run around and X X (doesn't seem much, but they actually do some serious damage and it is one of the basic tactic in this game dealing with big monsters or boss characters) Lastly when dealing with the choppers, try R3 while aiming it will zoom in aim for the missile bay on both sides, it won't be able to fire missiles.
