This book needs to get into thousands of American & British public libraries.
Nathan Thrall's book won the 2024 Pulitzer Prize for non-fiction. When I bought the book (before the award), it was not very available... took well over a month via Amazon. Fortunately, the award seems to have made the book much easier to get a hold of.

If you are no longer able to see yourself in the position of someone oppressed, if even the simple idea makes you sick, you cannot understand what it means that the oppressed can strike back at the oppressors, that they can stand up and fight. This is what the Palestinians celebrate and not the deaths of civilians (which by the way, and some of you know well, were in many cases the work of the IDF itself)

Irgun attacked the defenseless town anyway, and threw hand grenades into the buildings where the civilians cowered. Menachem Begin defended his decision to do the massacre later, since it had terrorized all Palestinians so sucessfully, causing thousands of them to flee.
