Agreed BelovedFever. I was the primary, during the day anyway, care-giver for my three-year old daughter when this album released. I could only play it loud tho, alone, inside my car. (Around a 3 year old, 30 db. max.)
+BelovedFever agreed. it's been my fav album, period... for like 10 years... - give or take. i hadnt heard it in so long and now i'm all like nostalgic and i remember exactly why i loved it. i passed this vid on to a friend. he loves it too
use to wake up early to listen to this before school when i was 15. im 30 now. alot has happened in the last 15 years, we'll see what happens in the next 15. cheers!
This album, laser tag, Daria, riding my bike everywhere, JNCO jeans, spikey hair, no social media or smart phones in everyone's face 24/7... how I miss the mid-late 90's.
That album was (still is somehow...) somekind of milestone in terms of pop music production. Some songs had over 110 tracks which was extremely rare in a time when digital audio works tation were far from the workhorse programs we use nowadays.
I don't. Country music (repetitive), Top 40's pop (shallow) and most commercial made rap and hip hop (autotuned crap made by guys who are high on downers) made in the last decade or so are the only things I really dismiss outright.
If you're a Garbage fan, check out Curve, especially their earlier stuff ( Doppelganger and Cuckoo). You'll definitely hear the inspiration for Garbage's sound.
Interesting connection, hadn't thought of that before. Of course Curve were indie (Dean Garcia produced, and I think Flood) while Garbage pushed the more grunge sound courtesy of Butch Vig,
This was the reason why I was a little resistant in embracing Garbage. I was of the mindset that they hijacked Curve’s sound and made it more accessible for the masses. That all changed when Version 2.0 came out. I couldn’t deny the pop masterpiece that it is. It boggles that it just turned 20yo, and it still sounds mad fresh to boot.
I loved the first album. The second albums is just as good as the first one. Amazing album. I miss this Garbage. But at least Bleed like me was decent it was a great album.
Simply the best band ever. Shirley Manson is too hot to handle. 64 years old never get tired of this music. Can not even count how many times I have listen to garbage. Anyone that have anything negative to say can go straight to hell.
I remember playing gran turizmo 2 racing game on ps1 to the song paranoid and flying the F15 fighter jet flying inverted wile doing some ACM training to the the song special
My first garbage's album! I was about 14 years old and I listened these songs every day, when came back home from high school. Not all my friends appreced and undertsood this sounds in that period...I loved them!
Everyone, everyone should have a chance to hear this album, and I imagine a lot of people still somehow have no idea who Garbage are. This album was absolutely game-changing. There's something on this album for everyone, for every mood, for every genre really. I started listing why I liked the individual tracks then realised I was writing an essay so instead I'll just say Thank You Garbage! You have been the soundtrack to my best teenage years, along with Placebo, Nirvana and No Doubt. What a time for great music, :) And 'Hammering in my head' is so underrated - it wouldn't be out of place today
Este es el mejor álbum de Garbage por mucho uno de los mejores trabajos en este género, después de tantos años lo sigo disfrutando como el primer día 👌👌👌👌👌👌
One of my fav CD's of all time! Still in my top 20 or even 15. I still get it out to play in my car every so often & play it several times. My favs from the CD are Temptation Waits, Special (w Shirley Manson's little vocal tribute to Chrissy Hines of the Pretenders at the end), Push It & the Haunting "You Look So Fine. It's awesome to find it on the net to play it in my bedroom!
This should have won album of the year in 1998. Lauryn Hill was alright. Shania Twain deserved it more, but this, this was the true deserved recipient.
I take it you're referring to the Grammy's? I'd still say Lauryn Hill. I'm not a fan of the woman, but as an artist, the album was easily the best of the nominees. Definitely more than just 'alright', at any rate, lol. Only weak track on there was the title track. Funny thing is that there are even better albums than Hill's that _didn't_ make the shortlist. Massive Attack's 'Mezzanine' and Fatboy Slim's 'You've Come a Long Way, Baby', for example. Overall, Version 2.0 has some solid tracks, but not a contender for 1998, sorry. Probably gonna get a ton of hate from Garbage fans now but just saying what I see from an impartial standpoint.
That rare album that is soo accomplished & brilliant from start to finish. It's about time Garbage featured on Radio Stations like Jack FM & Absolute. As an aside, The Trick Is To Keep Breathing is my Barry White tune...😉
Great album! This one might be my favorite, followed by their debut. Fun fact, Butch Vig (drummer in Garbage) had earlier work as a producer for albums like Nevermind (Nirvana) and Siamese Dream (Smashing Pumpkins).
Why is this so hard to listen to despite being so poppy? Like it shits on Bleed Like Me as an album that just makes you think "I'm so fucked up for being able to relate to a word of this." It's even worse because the raw and emotional stuff about hurting others and yourself is always next to an attempt to glamorise what she's talking about (like in Temptation Waits and Wicked Ways)... which is somehow worse than just wallowing in self-hatred. At least, that's how I feel about it. Cracking album.
A friend of mine told me that this is Garbage's best album, what do you guys think? I've only had listened to the first two album by now since 2018, yeah i borned in 1998, i'm 19.
this is the only album that really worked for them as far comercial success goes they never achieved the same results with all the other albums specially their 2012 epic flop
+Daniel Herrera-Mata According to charts, their most sold out album was their so not liked "Beautiful Garbage", which is a great album though, even though it´s far from their style
Tough, if you're asking of one, if asking of two, easy, due to the way I've been feeling recently, I'd be leaning toward "I Think I'm Paranoid & Medication", I created my own remixes of both, to suit my preference & listen to them more frequently, on repeat, but I've got a select few on a small playlist, including one from Blur & one from Queen too.
...favorite is a very complex word, what if they are ALL favorites? Like, EVERY tune that plays feels like, "WOW" that one was the one, and then you hear the next, ... so on and so forth. Naw man, she's the MAIN event, clearly.
Since leaving the remark 08 weeks ago, I've since found a couple more that I quite like, but so far, the Garbage tracks I've taken to the most are: I Think I'm Paranoid. Medication. Tell Me Where It Hurts. You Look So Fine. The World's Not Enough (known from 007's JB). I've recently created my own 540 mins/09hrs odd, 140+ music track compilation, including my own versions of the tracks above.
I think this is the best music got, it went downhill after this album... They used the full capability of technology to create really fresh music that wouldn't have been possible before computers, nowadays all people do with technology is make massive quantities of shit music...
One of the best albums in the history of music. For me, that is.
BelovedFever For me too.
Agreed BelovedFever. I was the primary, during the day anyway, care-giver for my three-year old daughter when this album released. I could only play it loud tho, alone, inside my car. (Around a 3 year old, 30 db. max.)
BelovedFever for me as well
+BelovedFever I have to agree.
+BelovedFever agreed. it's been my fav album, period... for like 10 years... - give or take. i hadnt heard it in so long and now i'm all like nostalgic and i remember exactly why i loved it. i passed this vid on to a friend. he loves it too
"You look so fine"... what a fucking perfect way to close an album.
use to wake up early to listen to this before school when i was 15. im 30 now. alot has happened in the last 15 years, we'll see what happens in the next 15. cheers!
1. "Temptation Waits" (0:00)
2. "I Think I'm Paranoid" (4:35) 3. "When I Grow Up" (8:13) 4. "Medication" (11:36) 5. "Special" (15:41) 6. "Hammering in My Head" (19:21) 7. "Push It" (24:12) 8. "The Trick Is to Keep Breathing" (28:13) 9. "Dumb" (32:23)10. "Sleep Together" 36:12) 11. "Wicked Ways" (40:12) 12. "You Look So Fine" (43:55)
Bronze Serpent thank you
I got all the titles song of version 2.0...thnx bronze serpent
This album, laser tag, Daria, riding my bike everywhere, JNCO jeans, spikey hair, no social media or smart phones in everyone's face 24/7... how I miss the mid-late 90's.
baron0877 DITTO!
Holy crap, I remember listening to this as a kid ... I absolutely loved her voice and the music. I'd never hear anything like it before
That album was (still is somehow...) somekind of milestone in terms of pop music production. Some songs had over 110 tracks which was extremely rare in a time when digital audio works tation were far from the workhorse programs we use nowadays.
This album can still be a hit in 2017...
The trick is to keep breathing is such a dope record
One of the most underrated bands ever!! Beautiful garbage and bleed like me are classics . I don't care if they weren't as commercially successful !
+Brian Johnson over produced shite in my opinion. there 1st two albums were good though
love love LOVED beautifulgarbage. Bleed Like Me was ok, but my least favourite Garbage album.
So 1998. Shirley Manson is one of my idols growing up.
This music never gets old, I've loved them for 20 yrs now
temptation waits, you look so fine... two of my fav songs ever
I agree, those are the two standouts, though the whole album is perfect.
Could Listen to this Band Forever
kick ass sound n voice my fav album of all time, like fine wine.
+Pat Tavano well said! it's my fav too :)
One of my guilty pleasures. One of the few albums I can listen to track to track without skipping.
Why a guilty pleasure though? Ain't nothin' wrong with liking Garbage.
I'm a metalhead.
Why limit yourself to only certain kinds of music?
I don't. Country music (repetitive), Top 40's pop (shallow) and most commercial made rap and hip hop (autotuned crap made by guys who are high on downers) made in the last decade or so are the only things I really dismiss outright.
c'mon, I understand calling something like Lady Gaga or Justin Bieber as a "guilty pleasure", but Garbage???
The best rock album ever! Memories when I grew damn time going to qick scares me and so happy they still recording new music and alive!
So many memories listening to this...good times
This is one of my favorite albums of all time.
My earliest Memories I can recall are from 1997 and I recall My Siblings Listening to Amazing Music like this
The best album from garbage. This album i heard when i was young.
If you're a Garbage fan, check out Curve, especially their earlier stuff ( Doppelganger and Cuckoo). You'll definitely hear the inspiration for Garbage's sound.
Thank you soooooo much!
Interesting connection, hadn't thought of that before. Of course Curve were indie (Dean Garcia produced, and I think Flood) while Garbage pushed the more grunge sound courtesy of Butch Vig,

Even with some songs not release as singles, historically, probably their best produced album in their careers.....
Best band EVER. Still my Number 1 fav! LOVE THIS ALBUM!!!
I loved the first album. The second albums is just as good as the first one. Amazing album. I miss this Garbage. But at least Bleed like me was decent it was a great album.
This Album tops their debut, both Amazing Albums and wow ❤❤
I can't stop listening to this album
Jamie Hellfire I can't stop listening to ALL of them! Still tech-savvy, and sound so good. Can't wait for the next release!
So relaxing! Perfect.
Simply the best band ever. Shirley Manson is too hot to handle. 64 years old never get tired of this music. Can not even count how many times I have listen to garbage. Anyone that have anything negative to say can go straight to hell.
A great album and they are still going strong with a tasty new record.
yeah
There is only one album. That is 2.0!
I remember playing gran turizmo 2 racing game on ps1 to the song paranoid and flying the F15 fighter jet flying inverted wile doing some ACM training to the the song special
Such a criminally under appreciated album.
hammering in my Head has got to be in the top of best rock songs of the 90's
My first garbage's album! I was about 14 years old and I listened these songs every day, when came back home from high school. Not all my friends appreced and undertsood this sounds in that period...I loved them!

q gran disco!
uno de los mejores discos en la historia de la musica
comparto eso !!!
This should have won album of the year in 1998. Lauryn Hill was alright. Shania Twain deserved it more, but this, this was the true deserved recipient.
Amen!!
Christopher Johnson And Shirl was so hot that night in her "show-all" Garbage dress!
I take it you're referring to the Grammy's? I'd still say Lauryn Hill. I'm not a fan of the woman, but as an artist, the album was easily the best of the nominees. Definitely more than just 'alright', at any rate, lol. Only weak track on there was the title track.

A great album
Shirley is the coolest Front-Woman in Rock
Love this album ever since it came out, still love it now since the 1st ever time, same love repeats over and over everytime x
Listened to this album more times than i care to recall whilst playing Xenogears on the Playstation.
Good times, good times.
love her
God, I heard something here that I hadn't heard before! I love this band and Shirley for many years. Energy
This album makes me remember packing up my stuff back in 2003 from our holiday home after my friend had gone home by ambulance.
That rare album that is soo accomplished & brilliant from start to finish. It's about time Garbage featured on Radio Stations like Jack FM & Absolute.
As an aside, The Trick Is To Keep Breathing is my Barry White tune...😉
Tenia 7 años cuando salio este disco y me fascinaba 😍
Agree with BelovedFever.
Fucking love this album still have it to this day

Heh, my first cd was their debut. :)
went through my first real break up with this as my solace.....sigh....
This is the noise that keeps me awake, my head explodes and my body arches...push it, make the beats go harder!
Heather Benson Yeah! What you said!
Takes me back to the time when hit music could be good.
So edgy I almost cut myself
I'm not an edgelord. Just reminiscing.
Kimmo Laine to get rid of bit on ins premiums on ins premiums
Yeah when autotuning wasn't a thing.
Great album! This one might be my favorite, followed by their debut.
Fun fact, Butch Vig (drummer in Garbage) had earlier work as a producer for albums like Nevermind (Nirvana) and Siamese Dream (Smashing Pumpkins).
Killer album! Love ❤️
Played this CD out back in the day.........
Soundtrack of my life

sad that my youtube page used to be sighkickchick. lost all access to it. this is still me.
this is the only album that really worked for them as far comercial success goes they never achieved the same results with all the other albums specially their 2012 epic flop
+Daniel Herrera-Mata Garbage was more successful for them!
+Daniel Herrera-Mata According to charts, their most sold out album was their so not liked "Beautiful Garbage", which is a great album though, even though it´s far from their style
Yep, funny shit. So like it is "Commercial success". Who cares? The music they make is the revelant thing here.
Their first one sold really well too. And I actually like it more than 2.0.
This girl Shirley.... She makes me want to be a better man!
she is a grown woman...
💀of you
I agree
Whoever put the track-timecodes in the video description did a horrible job.
whats your favorite song off the album?
You look so fine, definitely
The Trick is to Keep Breathing and Push It.

2019 ?

This sucks bad compared to the 1995 album.
