Yo, what's up guys? This is Boom Kitty here. And uh, I wanted to make a tutorial on how to make... my signature FAT bassline. Uh, my FAT BASS sounds... etcetera. Uh, this is something a lot of people have asked me about: "Hey Boom Kitty, how you make those FAT basslines? How do you do it?" and uh (unintelligible) wanted to make a RUclips tutorial to show you guys how it's done. So let's get started. Pretty straightforward, open up FL Studio and then you're gonna want to load up Serum... and uh... highly HIGHLY recommend Serum in fact, um... I do believe that Serum is objectively the best synth for FAT BASS. In fact, I'd even say it's the best synth overal. In fact, I wouldn't even uh... I don't even think you need... I don't even think you really need anything else. Um, so you have Serum going. And this is just you know, the default preset. First thing we wanna do: CRANT DAT VOLUME, and then you're gonna wanna go in the FX panel. Turn on that compressor, turn on multiband, and really lower that threshold. And that, is gonna make it FAT. Which is kind of our goal here. We want... we want MAXIMUM FATNESS. ...So that's *that's* pretty FAT. Let's turn on some distortion... put that to MAX. *FAT BUZZING NOISES* And that's pretty FAT. Let's put on another layer. So let's uuuum, let's go ahead, and uh, whoops. Go ahead and load up any old wav table. From any of the packs you have. *FAT BASSLINE INTENSIFIES* That's pretty nice, turn on FM... crank it... *FAT BASS NOISES* and then unison. And that's gonna make it stereo, wide, and EXTREMELY FAT. So that's, *THAT'S* a pretty fat bass right there. Let's turn on the sub... (whatever hesaid here lol) *Bruh be gentle with my ears* *THAT* is a *FAT BASS*. Alright we don't just want to work in um... in uh... in Serum, we want to load up some effects on there so let's go ahead, put that on mixer track one... *phat typing* aaaand now... okay so, in FL Studio there's this really cool plugin, um, called uh, called SoundGoodizer (lazy naming scheme tbh #wewantBoomTowntobeathing) and I really like it. I don't really know how it works, but um, but it sounds nice. So I just like to CRANK DAT. *fat noises* Ooooh, and that's sounding pretty *FAT*. Let's go ahead and put another one on there... *Damn these noises are getting pretty serious* pretty good. Uh, (smacks) I don't know if you guys know about this plugin, it's actually free. I highly recommend it. It's a plugin called... OTT. By the same people who made um... Serum. And uh, it's a pretty nice plugin. So... I just like to load that on there. I usually don't - I usually don't touch anything, I don't like to mess with it. I don't really know - I don't really know what those knobs do (eXpeRT PrOduCEr). Um, then I CRANK DAT volume back up. Now we're in the red. You almost always want to be in the red because that's where trhe FATNESS is: Fatness lives in the red. So I recommend you guys remember that. *Noises that sound pretty red* Now we're going to have to EQ this a bit. So, (what) we want to do is get rid of this mud. There's a lot of mud in mid range. Turn that down... and then we wanna CRANK the bass. So up about thirty decibels should be pretty reasonable. *pretty reasonable noises* Ooh, that, *that* sounded pretty FAT to me. Go ahead and get another uh, boost on this bass real quick. Want this to be balanced out. And then um, the other thing I like to do, I like to boost the high end a little bit. *pretty reasonable noises but the high end is boosted a little bit* And this gives us a nice CRUNCH, but not too much mid range - you don't want too much mid range there. So that sounded pretty fat; I'm really diggin that. And the last thing we wanna do it put on some reverb. So... I use ValhallaRoom for my reverb. And I like it a lot, it sounds pretty cool. I usually just kep it default, everything uh, don't mess with that stuff. Just the mix, and the decay. I turn down the decay a bit. About forty percent is a reasonable amount of reverb. *pretty reasonable noises that have the high end boosted a little bit and reverb decreased to forty percent* ...And that sounds pretty nice. So um... that's the gist of it, so, that's basically how I make my, uh, my bassline. I hope that was helpful! (no you fool now they know your secrets) Um. I'm gonna, I'm gonna show a little bit more (haha no this is actually getting a little bit much for me)
Good tutorial! My problem is I only have 3xOSC and fruity reverb 1 since I'm too poor to afford anything else. Will it still work or will it not sound as good as this?
Etzer if you are on fl studio you can use harmor, which if processed properly can give you basses just as good as serum only thing that sucks about it is that you don't really have control of what's going on with the filters but it's pretty good for static and fat basses
I honestly never thought this would happen. Artists usually don’t give away how they make their unique type of music as to keep it original. This is different, however. Boom Kitty is such a unique artist that just one tutorial won’t explain his secrets. My point is, I’m glad he decided to share one tip. If he releases more secrets later, fine by me. Keep up the good work, and GL in the future 👍🏻
Actually NTiXiou5 I don't want to get your hopes down, but I think this is a joke and not a serious tutorial. Many of the things he did here is so wrong when it comes to mixing, like adding 2 Soundgoodizers and an OTT on the same instrument. That's going to destroy the sound and not make it better. If you are a producer and want to get the same fat basslines he makes, then I highly recommend using saturation and a good amount of compression which doesn't distort the sound. Also remember to EQ out unwanted low-end if you're going to add a separate sub-bass.
MFPlayer Geometry Dash I appreciate your thought on this tutorial and tips for me if I make music. However, I am not a real musician yet. I am still learning the basics of doing something like this, but you’ve given me tips that I might use in future songs if I somehow learn to use FL12. Thanks for your opinion. 👌🏻
Short way: Open your daw, select BPM. Add Peppers, Salt, Protein Powder and Coffee and mix them all with Redbull. Then pour the mixture on your daw. Add distortion. Done.
Damn, I always stayed away from the reds because I thoght they meant high GPU usage. Thank you for the tips, man. I'll be applying them to all my music in the future.
That's funny because even tho it's troll, I legit loved the sound you created before you put on the valhalla room xD I found it could be a kinda cool FX...
I would like more tutorials cuz I am pretty new at this. Only been doing it for about 6 months so I have been watching many tutorials but haven't really found what genre of electronic music I have prefer creating
Happy April Fools :)
If you actually want production advice from me then be sure to check out my streams here on RUclips
Thanks for the tutorial!
this is the next generation of music, maybe even 50 generations ahead. thank you boomkitty you have enlightened every single one of us.
Why do I always see your profile picture as a beanie before I see the eye...

Good tutorial! My problem is I only have 3xOSC and fruity reverb 1 since I'm too poor to afford anything else. Will it still work or will it not sound as good as this?
hmmm that's a tough situation, but OTT is free so if you stack 5 - 7 OTT's on your bass then you could get to 90% phatness, which is still pretty good
Etzer how are you poor, you’re a popular gd youtuber
he's a poor-pular gd youtuber. Xd
Etzer if you are on fl studio you can use harmor, which if processed properly can give you basses just as good as serum
