There goes Brewster again, nonchalantly displaying licks from ridiculously monstrous players like as if he's kicking can on a Sunday afternoon.
Dude, you are the "Casual Shredmeister". Awesome!!!

Paul Gilbert is such an accessible teacher,so down to earth and makes learning fun,at all levels, his octave arpeggios, and shapes up the neck,is simple but so useful and has many apllications. His love of so many other guitarists/groups,is infectious,a great communicator, like yourself ,so many well known players refer to his instructional videos/DVDS,Thanks for this video, sure many will find it useful.

the string skipping shred lick from the intro of intense rock 1 is amazing. skipping from the low E to the high E has such a cool sound

Great lesson. Ive been working on Gilberts version of Bachs Prelude And Fugue No5 In D Major off and on for the past few months. It's a great workout for all 4 fingers without having to deal with extraordinary stretches, but it is hard to keep up his tempo consistently (and cleanly).

I’ve used Paul’s “Taco Bell Cannon in D” as a regular exercise since the early 90s. These major and minor string skipping arpeggios really opened a lot of doors for me to say the least--especially when sequenced-They feel “great” to play also!
Thanks David for the shared love of Pablo Gilberto! PS - I’ve been playing the Point of No Return lick for over 25 years also! -never tried the Yes lick though-thanks for that juicy nugget!🎸🎸🎸🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻

He certainly changed the game for me. I still listen to his older stuff in awe. Thanks again, David. Every young guitar player should listen to Mr Gilbert.

I just finished the Taco Song. Thank you! Amazing Lesson!!! Now I am messing around with sliding up to a note and then back into the arpeggio. Thanks again.

Thanks for the great lesson, Dave!! Paul has been one of my favorites for years. I'll never forget the first time I heard the intro to Green Tinted Sixties Mind when I was in high school. I was instantly drawn to it.
You have a great channel and I really dig your videos. Keep up the good work👍🏻

His solo in japan and the end of the solp of "anything for you" are some of my favourite string skipping arp licks/solo bits from him. Paul is probably my biggest inspiration and guitar hero.
Great video as always man =)

Really enjoying both the older and more recent content. Very well put together lessons. Been a Gilbert fan since his Intense Rock II VHS. I remember hearing Paul play the Taco Bell Canon on an old Mr. Big live solo vid. Thought it was the coolest thing I'd ever heard. Still sounds great almost 30 years later. Couldn't help but notice how similar the Gilbert skips are to Nuno's tapped arpeggios and Petrucci's Erotomania sequences. Please keep the Late Night Lessons coming. Love the shirt btw. Brilliant show! - Cobra Kai never dies!

First off, always awesome to see a fellow Hoosier rocking. Had a very good friend and band mate/ music partner from a tiny town around Evansville as well. Thanks for covering some Paul Gilbert. How about a late lesson from Brother Cane? Can’t deny the career of Damon Johnson? Not a shredder per say, but the time lines fit.

Love Paul he has always seemed like a down to earth relatable guy you’d see a lesion from Simone like michalangwlo batio talking like a savant he’d say it’s really easy then bust out a PhD in theory it wasn’t very helpful but Paul Gilbert would take something super technical and break or down explain it all understandably and encourage you with bite size applicable practice yet still. E fun or silly
He made the impossible possible much respect
And I appreciate how you are doing the same with your channel thanks dude

I remember first hearing Paul Gilbert back in the 80’s In Racer X.
My mates and I got into Vinnie Moore, Joe Satriani, Tony McAlpine, Racer X when we all started playing guitar.
    Still can’t play fast

Interesting that PG, loves Robin Trower, as do I, and quotes him as a salutary guitar player, but his style is so removed from Robin’s. Still, Paul seems like such a nice man and is a great guitar player and communicator. Bravo to him and nice breakdown in this lesson. Many thanks. 👍🏻
