To say it all how South Korea just to lure labor cost back in the day since Western companies flock to make stuff in South Korea and sell stuff dirt cheap South Korean labor is very similar to the USA,for a reason Samsung flock to China and so on.
I could tell you this South Korea in the civil commercial aviation industry will come from a company based in Toulouse, France soon.

Quite an ignorant thing to do, to compare countries simply by visuals and the way they speak..!
South Korea in the 80s were much more economically prosperous and free than North Korea has ever been - even president Chun Doo-Hwan, who was a dictator, had protests happen against him all the time (unimaginable in North Korea) and was eventually brought to justice in court for the laws he broke during his presidency.
There was freedom of speech, people were actually happy, and people did things (like cleaning up the cities in preparation for the Olympics) because they WANTED to, not because they were FORCED to. Literally ask any Korean who was alive during the early 80s.
Do have in mind that Korea was torn apart by a huge war just 30 years before that, and was at that point one of the poorest countries ON EARTH. It took just 30 years to overcome that in South Korea.
Totally different situation. I hope you'll do some research on what it was actually like, before comparing South Korea to North Korea!
Looking back, it almost seems as if North Korea is trying to emulate South Korea's success - trying to MAKE its people look happy and satisfied with their lives, like the South Koreans in the 1980s. The difference being that the total lack of freedom makes that impossible in North Korea.
