I agree with what you said about the band and don't know why she left but her new stuff is nowhere close to what Houndmouth did with her in the group. I still think Houndmouth is great, but her new stuff is hard to watch.

This is the only song I've heard by them, and in fact today is the first time I've heard of them (here in 2023), so what do I know. But as a guess, maybe they were perceived as a "me too" band that sounded like so many others of that era, and there was only room for so many to get heavily promoted. Being on "Letterman" is a big deal, but does not guarantee success.

I am a hetero male, but I ask all of you to tell me if the bass player does have the face of a super model........I am 65 and just "discovered" this band ONE MONTH ago,, it was this song that was the back ground music for some nature/ fishing vid,,,, and within ten seconds I was in love with this sound,,,,, and ha ha of course being that hetero male I was especially attracted to the keyboard players beauty
so the lyrics were cute but I assumed it was just random psyche dellic stuff,, then yesterday I looked up on a website about the meaning of songs,,,,,,,, and to my incredible surprise it turned out that this song is a commentary on a real life event that took place in Sedona Arizona that took place in the 1940's and it is all about a film that got nixxed due to the blacklisting that occurred in the 1940's
    WOW

The depth of the guitar work really comes to life with that Gretsch White Falcon. Such a pop anthem this is, harkens to another time like 1979 by The Smashing Pumpkins, Here Comes Your Man by The Pixies, The Boys Of Summer by Don Henley, or even Our Lips Our Sealed by The Go Go's. This is destined to be a timeless classic long after I'm gone.

    Lyrics:
    The red sandstone, it fell
Right smack on top of Sedona Arabella
When John Ford said wont you hop on in
To the stage coach baby gonna take you for a spin, oh oh
    Hey little Hollywood
You're gone but you're not forgot
You got the cash but your credit's no good
You flipped the script and you shot the plot
And I remember I remember when your neon used to burn so bright and pink
    A Saturday night kinda pink
    The blacklist and its hosts
Came down so swift and it drove 'em to the coast
We're goin California but we're all out of work
I guess that's better than a grave and a hearse
    Hey little Hollywood
You're gone but you're not forgot
You got the cash but your credit's no good
You flipped the script and you shot the plot
And I remember I remember when your neon used to burn so bright and pink
    A Saturday night kinda pink
    The devil's in a rush
And his duct tape makes you hush
Hey there Sedona let me cut you a deal
I'm a little hung over and I may have to steal your soul, oh oh
    Hey little Hollywood
You're gone but you're not forgot
You got the cash but your credit's no good
You flipped the script and you shot the plot
And I remember I remember when your neon used to burn so bright and pink, so bright and pink
    A Saturday night kinda pink

@@tomt6142 it has a lot to do about Hollywood today compared to the old. In the 1st Stanza John Ford invites ya into his stagecoach for a spin. John Ford directed the Original Stagecoach in the 60's.

when I listen to the parts where she does not sing, I simply enjoy the music. Obviously I am not an expert but a stronger voice would be more appreciated. In other words, her voice is just getting lost in the song.
