    I have just one quick question. I know that when you squeeze your glutes in ballet, it is supposed to be the lower part of them, as if you squeeze your glutes together it will move the pelvis forward. But for me, it seems to be really hard to activate those muscles, so are there any exercises to help that?

    • @howlyballet7744
      @howlyballet7744  4 года назад

      Pets andmore there are indeed lots of great exercises to increase glute efficiency. My personal favourite would be the Pilates bridge, as this coordinates glutes and abdominals and can be advanced to really develop strength and condition. Pilates would be my favoured technique, but I also think the cross-trainer and swimming is highly effective training for working the posterior.

      @xxkbxx1713 4 года назад +1

      @@howlyballet7744 Thank you, I'll have to try that! :D I just have one more problem at the moment. Like I said, I'm pretty sure the only part of your glutes that you squeeze is the part right underneath them, but when I do that I feel really tense and kind of immobile. What can I do to to it correctly?

    • @howlyballet7744
      @howlyballet7744  3 года назад +1

      @@xxkbxx1713 truth is you can only squeeze your Glutes from the underneath as that’s where the chain of command begins. But I would definitely look into resistance band work as that has a massive effect on glute integrity 👍

    ok im a 16 years old and i want to start with ballet again since i haven't done it since i was 6 my footing is horrid and im so stiff even after I stretch what do i need to do before i go into classes at 18 cause that's the only class i have around here and its an hour away so i really want to be prepared so i don't give the teacher any problems

    • @howlyballet7744
      @howlyballet7744  3 года назад +1

      First of all don’t worry about mobility and flexibility as this is inconsequential to strength and control. In regards to your footing this comes down to basic conditioning and in particular strength in the posterior. Without the ability to work with you in the studio I would highly recommend focusing on the key areas of ballet technique as explained in this video, but also the muscles that support these movements. Calves, VMO’s, Quads, Hip Flexors, adductors& Glutes. I have a beginners ballet 5 week programme on my IGTV that would definitely help you on my Instagram channel. 👍

    Not a fan of RAD, but appreciate your advice. Think you turned in Randal's feet too much. Good turnout, not a strength of the Royal Ballet School. Rather than to lessen turnout, better to teach it properly from the thighs, knees AND feet. The dancer's technique in the battement tendu jeté demonstration is terrible. Does not close properly in fifth. Sinks on the supporting side. Most importantly her arms. What can I say, chicken wings. Some of the reasons Russian dancers are the very best: they insist on proper turnout and teach it safely, great tendus through the feet and amazing upper body and arms - all taught from Day One.
    Having said that, I have subscribed to your channel, and value your comments and commitment to technique - something often missing in the West and unfortunately all too often a reason for lost dreams.
