It've worked two times for me before, but now my Chrome updated itself (to 89.0.4389.82 version) and I don't know if that's the case, but this doesn't work, so, guys, keep that in mind. UPD: Oh yeah, Mawichan's solution works just right! In a standard mode Right-click on a video (without autoplay), click (http > hls) and disable it, delete browser's cash, refresh page and in media after video's start should appear small file with initiator sm*insert NicoNico video number here*.

september 2023 this doesnt work. i tested with multiple videos and the option to change from hls to http no longer exists and the video doesnt pop up at all in inspect element. so for anyone trying this, your just gonna have to get a plugin

July 12 2019 - EDIT: Still works! If you have trouble getting the video to show up in the media tab, try disabling some extensions if using chrome, and also right click on the player, disable HLS streaming, and reload the page with the inspection window still open in the network tab, media section. Feb 26 2019 - EDIT: I was going to comment about an issue, but I just needed to disable all my extensions (I'm not sure which one is causing the problem and I can just turn them all off). It's working perfectly now. Still very reliable!
@@makeeye2867 Right click on the niconico video player and then choose the option at the bottom which says "(hls > http)". This causes the viewing method to switch from hls to http.
Tried it from Opera and it wasn't working at first, but then I read on another comment a solution. Right clicking on video and disabling the (http > hls) setting, and then reloading the website made it work!! It still needed a few tries because the media file kept giving me a forbidden error lol, but I was able to get the video in the end, thank you so much for the tutorial man :)

P.S. Not all videos from NND uses the .mp4 format, other types, such as .swf, are used too. Depending on the file type, your browser might not download it automatically. In that case, use a file downloader to grab the file (simply copy & paste the link with the download via URL option). EDIT: Again, use the copy & paste method I mentioned with a downloader software if you cannot download the file like in the video.

Sadly that doesn't work for me. Frustrating because you try everything with the cash, switch between HLS and HTTP, refreshing etc. and still there's no media to download. Edit: Jesus, it was so easy. I always use Chrono Sniffer for collecting pics and after two hours I remembered it... there was an tap straight with the video!!! Just make sure HTTP is enabled, otherwise it will be saved as little "ts"? shreds.

While this works, youtube-dl allows you to download by quality, download by mylist, and continue interrupted downloads. It also hooks into the other features of the player so that you can download a GEOIP restricted video through a proxy, extract metadata, etc. The only caveat is that it is a command line application.
Doesn't work. i tried switching from HLS to HTTP too. nothing. the only media that shows up on Network is the video of the ad that shows up before the video plays.
I know how to download on android apps too! 1.Find target video first. Then login account (If restricted. Please use VPN) 2.Open using desktop. Then relog again 3.Hold on the video screen. Press (Show network info) 4.Wait untill signal [video can now played] quickly press the link. Then open the new ADM tabs. 5.Press download to download the first path video. 6.During progess. If reconnection progess triggered, stop the traffic. 7.Then back to step 3. 8.With new video link copied. Press pencil icon, then paste the new link. Then continue the download traffic, The ADM will auto detect the video link. 9.Repreat this process untill completed. Note : this is only worked with android ADM apps. And supports the HTML5 video engine.
Saying about that, if the video is restricted by country. You can use japan VPN using OpenVPN for android. For ADM i find and recommended. Here it is play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dv.adm
This didn't work for me but I managed to do something similar that worked. I visited the page source (I use Opera idk if other browsers have this) then I looked for a link that starts with "embed.nicovideo" and opened it and on that page played the video and then inspected the page and went to Network like in the video and then I just opened every one until one of them opened another video but that one could be right clicked and downloaded with "Save As" (there are only about 15 things to open so shouldn't take too long)

As of jan. 14, 2019 it still works. Make sure you change the resolution on the video to whatever quality you want before doing the "open link in new tab" step.
Just checked it myself, it still works if you switch from hls to http. You only need to right-click on the video to do that, then continue with the normal steps.

For some reason I couldn't get it to work in Firefox (I'm not sure what's wrong, but I couldn't find the proper element in the inspect menu, even looking for the video code number) but Chrome worked fine just like in the vid. (Hurrah for backup browsers!) edit: Just in case other people get worried like I did, at first when I opened the file in a new tab, it gave me the loading bar but no video, it took like 20 seconds to start loading. Dunno if that was just a me thing or not, but worth mentioning maybe.

Another method is to copy and paste the niconico video url to Allavsoft and click Download button.
If you don't get it, google niconico video downloader. There's a lot of 'em
Allavsoft also works to download online videos and music files from many websites
I see there have ads like youtube on niconico. How to monetize the video?

If you don't get it, google niconico video downloader. There are lots of 'em
Or converter. Online Video Converters are also available
For some reason it always shows the ad/commercial before getting to the video! I couldn't download it even if I refreshed over and over again
Have you tried using adblock? That helped me get rid of the ads.
@@CrayonGoo I mean it's like the RUclips videos. Every time you click a video a commercial shows up and if it refresh it still does a commercial
