this was my first hobby grade r/c. Been an HPI fan ever since. I got this when I was around 12. Remember seeing the HPI Nitro RS4 1 in catalogs with the flame orange and black Viper body. Because it had my dream car I wanted this kit more than anything else. When I finally got a r/c car for christmas, it was the nitro rs4 2 with a porsche body (didn't have viper in stock) I had to buy the Viper body separately. This car is still in my collection with modern electronics and a trx 3.3 motor (has a rb mods rod with proper brass bushings). I might put in a smaller motor because my nova cooling head is just so massive and it's hard to fit a lot of bodies that clear the head. Carbon fiber parts everywhere, carbon graphite suspension arms/knuckles/bulkhead parts, hpi threaded aluminum shocks, 2 speed, mip shiny cvds. Tsais exhaust, round rear port exhaust, futaba tx/rx, savox servos. Originally it was ran by a lynx fm and lynx 3d radio with the selectable channel receiver from novak. Chassis is a super thick 4mm chassis, just can't remember if it's 6076 or 7076 aluminum, was quite expensive back in the day. In my collection I have an unpainted viper body ('97-'02) that came the the nitro rs4 2, an unpainted buick grand national body that I bought a couple of years ago, and an unpainted rsx body (I want to paint it blaze orange to match my daily driver). I also have an unpainted tamiya nsx body (old style nsx, not the new abomination). As soon as I figure out the cooling head dilemma or swap to a different motor I'll fit the rsx body to it. For the Viper I might try to get it professionally airbrushed to match the original red/white/blue paint scheme.
Hey man, it sounds like you and I both got into this awesome hobby around the same time, that is pretty sickening. I’m most likely thinking of converting this RS4 to a more modern HPIT 3.0 engine, because it will be a direct fit, and I don’t need to mess around with any of the fly wheel set up. Have you ever done the T3.0 conversion it is the simplest to do on these models.
My dad bought me the flareside f150 rs4 back in 2000 when i was 13, from orange blossom hobbies in miami florida like right before they closed down. It was a magical place. Awesome hobby shop. Long story short i sold her off in my 20’s when i was an idiot. Well im 38 now, just bought one off of ebay in absolutely mint condition with crazy compression. It has smoked clutch shoes but nothing that a a808 part bag wont fix. Paid $200, i think i did great.
I’ve got an RS4 2 that was built new and never run with the Lotus Elise shell (unpainted). I have to rebuild the whole car and integrate some nice upgrades. One is adding the sweet Dynamite manifold and tuned pipe found NIP. I’m looking forward to it!
Ok so the last nitro I asked about is actually a rs4 2.. I have the single speed and the 2 speed one. I also have a super nitro. I might have that rear exhaust also.
Bro I found one here for 80 bucks in offer up idk if I should risk it it doesn’t come with remote. He said he cleaned it because it was sized. So idk if I should risk it
hey bro! Here is the issue with that, generally you would also need a new header to fit the longer tuned pipe. They normally come in sets for this model and it's not something you could easily find these days.
@@hybrid32494 that's great 👍 I just purchased a almost brand new serpent matrix 748 wc(world cup nitro) with a novarossi header and pipe and engine! Completely sickening!!! ✌️👌👍
Hey the computer on the car. It can go out. And it cost big money. Time for a new car. Toyota cars are way better they last a lot longer then Nissan, it depends how they take care of it.
