Comedian Lily Tomlin and Producer Jane Wagner talk to Christiane Amanpour about their decades-long partnership in life and art
At 8:00 when Lily realizes she's rambling a bit and apologized and that Jane immediately turns toward her partner, to look at her directly ignoring the camera entirely was so beautiful. It was a silent show of support that's so gorgeous about their relationship.
I normally watch a video in it's entirety before jumping down to the comments but I just paused it at 8:13 thinking "I have to see if anyone else is picking up on this too"

It may also be, partly, that as one gets older, especially into 70s and 80s, eyelids start to droop, making eyes seem smaller. Also, suspect Jane isn’t wearing much liner or other eye makeup.

I've always looked up to Lily as a woman ahead of her time and am so happy for her and Jane and their beautiful relationship.

Lily is a national treasure! Good to see her with Jane and relating their lives together and my word, 50 years together, collaborating, cohabitating, living through and being a part of what I still call Gay Liberation (inclusive of LGBTQ folks) has been extraordinary. As a gay man of 66 I can appreciate their journey. I hope they continue entertaining us and wish them well.

Jane and Lilly are even more beautiful now. Im 54 and somehow, I always knew. Alot for a 4 year old who told his mother proudly that he was going to marry Robin the "boy wonder" not Batman. It only seemed natural to marry the person you love. I loved Robin. Why not? Thanks Jane.

The first 20 minutes of Search the most brilliant humor I have ever seen. I saw Lily in the 70's and last year and she has not lost a thing, still solo talented.
My father could not stop laughing at Ernestine the telephone operator. And the AT&T jokes would fly today!

The best compliment I ever received came from my partner who referred to me as "a natural feminist." I am a straight man who is not very proud of my sex thus far. Thank you again. They are 2 very brilliant women.

I grew up in a house where I had an understanding of the LGBTQ community because of some of my relatives. I'm a 55 yo straight woman who is so glad that I have now seen where all states allow gay marriage. Where we have gay characters on TV and movies . And where we interview gay couples just like straight couples. I know there is still more to do but I'm glad to live in a time where it is so much more accepted on such an open stage.
Why? It's counter to evolution.

Nooooo! I was just saying this morning that I had hoped that Grace and Frankie would go on for several more seasons! I absolutely love that show! I have binge watched it and started it over again several times. It's just phenomenal in every way. The actors are perfect in their parts and the writers have done such a fantastic job! This makes me so sad! Regardless, I love Lily and her wife Jane is absolutely gorgeous! How wonderful that they've been together for 50 years! I so enjoyed this interview!

Never saw the play~ oh would love Lily to do so now :) Still a contemporary masterpiece. Highly recommend!

Interesting that both Lily and her brother are gay. I wonder if there can be a genetic predisposition. As I am clear that someone is born homosexual or heterosexual...it seems to follow that it is genetic and therefore like eye color is in the DNA. I wonder if there is research in this area?

There’s been lots of research in this area. Current scientific consensus is that there is no one gene identified to carry sexual orientation, but that sexuality presents as a combination of gene expressions and environmental factors (including environmental factors in the womb).

Dina Cox One of my in-laws was bisexual, and his daughter is gay. I’ve wondered about this myself; but as a high school girl, I also knew male identical twins split from one egg, and one was a totally straight, while his brother was a young gay man with extremely feminine characteristics, who came out in his early teens. I wholly believe one is born either gay or straight, but the twins situation does perplex me.

When Lily at the end says this would be the 7th and last season of Grace and Frankie, you can see she is so moved, my heart is breaking 😢

The volume is very low.
I grew up watching the magic school bus all the time. When I was first coming to terms with being gay, finding out my that the voice actress of my favorite teacher is also gay just made it so much easier. Love you Lily
