Hey Susan, i checked the ingredient list and their website and can only see retinol in the cream, not the rich cream... even in their FAQ about the safety of the products in pregnancy they mention that only the cream has a small retinol percentage...
This is such a highly requested video!! I know you guys want to know which skincare products I’ve been using lately, so here it is: pregnancy version. Keep in mind, this is a fairly simple routine for me because I feel like my skin is more sensitive while pregnant and I don’t really think there’s much we can do to stop melasma or breakouts that happen due to the hormones. The good news is it all goes away once you’re done and the hormones have balanced out! It’s all about maintenance while prego!
Susan Yara I’m currently breastfeeding and I remember seeing in one of your past videos about the Biossance Phyto-retinol as being “ok” during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. I’ve been using this and now second-guessing myself.
Susan Yara I know you usually do the skincare critique on mixed make up but can we please see you do Jeannie Mai! I just found her channel called “hello hunnay” & I’m currently dying of laughter. Plus she’s 40 and looks 20. & your videos like this one have made me want to go to school for skincare. I appreciate your videos SOO much.
Hi love! Thanks for the video. As a dermatologist, I just wanted to inform you that the Rich cream you mentioned contains retinols (rentinyl palmitate). It’s a very tiny amount and should be fine but still better to avoid if possible💗
Thank you so much for pointing this out! They're pretty secretive about the ingredients and I hadn't bothered to check if there was retinol. I really appreciate it and made a note about this above. Appreciate you looking out!
Kam Hana hello, as a dermatologist, did u find a cream product fragrance free with no silicone, no paraben no preservative that can harm us? U should start ur YT channel to share ur input
I’m very confused about this. I have read the same thing about avoiding retinols. However, when I look at the ingredients in my prenatal gummy vitamin, it includes retinyl palmitate. Why would they put it in an ingestible vitamin specifically targeted towards pregnant women if it’s harmful for the baby? This is the exact reason I have stopped using any of my skincare products and eased up on the prenatals.
@@ava427 retinol is vitamin A with is pretty much Aspirin. In low doses (81mg) it helps with high risk pregnancies and potentially stopping preeclampsia. I'm currently taking it now per my OB and questioned the same thing.
Update on the Banila Co cleansing balm: they updated the formula so the mineral oil has been replaced with natural ester oil, butylated hydroxytoluene is replaced with skin-friendly vitamin E acetate, and butyl parahydroxybenzoate has been replaced with phenoxyethanol naturally derived from green tea. :)
If Susan doesn´t like a product, I don´t buy it LOL. My skincare changed so much since I started watching your videos ! I use SPF every single day now ! and I pay attention to the ingredients in everything I buy.
Hi Susan, I just purchased the 'Ordinary Glycolic Toning Solution', used it for the first time last night, but then noticed this morning on the Ordinary's website that they state this is not safe during pregnancy, but ok for breastfeeding. I am 7 weeks pregnant and trying to find products I can actually use since all my pre-pregnancy stuff is off the table for now. Perhaps this product should be cleared by an individuals' doctor first?
Hi! Susan, i just want to ask if REN Clean Skincare Bio Retinoid Anti-Wrinkle Concentrate Oil is safe for pregnancy 100%? Even if it contains retinoid?
First 2 pregnancies nothing changed. This last one I couldn't use anything with perfume in AT ALL! Great video! It's so important to take care of yourself, even while you are pregnant. You are still you and will return to normal again afterwards! We actually JUST uploaded a video on our channel about 10 tips for you when preparing for your newborn baby. I didn't have anything in there about my skincare, but maybe I should have. Thanks for a good video, as always!
By the way, I love your RUclips channels Susan Yara! I’ve been following you for about 6 weeks and my skincare routine has improved! I’ve gotten compliments about my skin now! I’m a products junkie and your channels have helped me streamline my skincare routine products.
You mentioned that you like to give your face a break from retinol (when non-preggo) every once in awhile. Why is that and how often do you do a break? Learning so much from you - THANK YOU!!! ❤️
You’re so informative love all your videos, I’m a beauty therapist in Australia and always recommend my clients to use a gentle hydrating cleanser in the AM, I was surprised you don’t cleanse in the morning though? Considering all the products we apply at night time? The actives have obviously stopped working over night and you’re left with built up product on the skin, so it’s always a good idea to remove the built up products from the night before so your skin can absorb your AM routine. Although, your glycolic could be working to break down your products from night before but you could be getting more out of your glycolic by balancing skin with cleanser first. That’s just my opinion:) would love to hear your thoughts
Hi Susan, I don't know if you'll respond but I'll give it a shot anyway. How do you feel about using professional strength AHA peels while breastfeeding? I'm eyeing the Peter Thomas Roth 30% Lactic acid peel for my crappy skin texture and old acne scarring.
Really enjoyed this, but I also really appreciate how you interact and answer questions in the comments. You’re a great teacher and consummate professional. All blessings for your pregnancy 💜
I really thought you weren't supposed to use aaaany active ingredients (bha, aha, glycolic acid, vit C, retinoids, peptides, etc.) when you are pregnant. Good to know that is not that strict!
retinoids are a definite no-no(she said in the video to skip retinoids during pregnancy, the ones she recommended she said are not real retinoids), BHA are also generally no, AHA (glycolic, lactic) is on the borderline depends on your risk tolerance. vit c should be fine since you can get a ton more from orange juice.
I am recently using cleansing balm from The Body Shop Camomile, can you try it out too?- and see whether it works the same as your no.1 cleansing balm???
Susan! I watched this a year ago when o wasn’t even considering being a mom anytime soon. A year later I’m pregnant and I’m SO excited to take your advice. So happy you shared these tips! 💕
So I just ordered glycolic acid, vitamin c, rose hip oil, and Niacinamide. Which shouldn’t I mix, and which should I layer? I was thinking of switching out the Niacinamide and gylocnic for the night time. Use one one day and the other the next day. Any help would be very much appreciated!
I'm in my first trimester so I've been trying to navigate a pregnancy safe routine. In my teens I had bad acne, like cysts, scars and so on. When I found kbeauty in 2016 I fell in love and it really changed my life. The double cleanse truly made such a big difference. Toning and a double cleansing made such a biggest change in my skin. I fell in love with Cocokinds Oat Milk Cleansing balm. It's very gentle and has simple ingredients. It really hydrates and calms. Its very thick and great for slugging. I have fair combo skin with redness but as I go through my pregnancy I have noticed my skin type has changed to more dry and some oil. If your pregnant or have a sensitive skin check out Cocokind! They have a great Bukkuchial Resurfacing Overnight Mask thats a clean, natural retinol alternative!
Have you tried any products from Paula’s choice? And what do you think of them? Also, how often would you recommend using a retinol per week for a beginner? Love you! 😍
Me: 🗣Alexa what is Melasma? Alexa: A condition in which brown patches appear on the face. Melasma can be due to hormonal changes during pregnancy or from sun exposure. Women are much more likely than men to develop this condition. Me: oh.
Great video :). This video has been very helpful. Thank you 😊. Do you have any recommendation for eye cream? Especially for dark circles? I am a new mom and don’t really get much sleep. Please and thank you.
Yay! You look amazing Susan! This pregnancy is treating you so well! Thank you for the Rich Cream suggestion! I have used a lot of what you have recommended and have loved them all. I’m about out of my Sisley cream, so I’m gonna get that cream next!!
This is such a great AHA. I really noticed a difference in my skin after I ran out. Also, like Susan, I use it in the morning and my retinol in the evening and this reduced my hyperpigmentation
Oh I finished speaking to soon, I just re stocked my Tatcha Vitamin C and I honestly think it was pretty life changing for me. But I’m on a mission to get my skin not so dry. Because I break out I have to use a gel moisturizer, but have dry skin. I think that’s a tough thing to balance. Haven’t figured it out fully. Any tips on keeping skin highly moisturized but still helping breakouts would be great 💁♀️
Maybe you have dehydrated skin and that keeps you from figuring out your actual skin type. Look for dehydrated skin routines and get your skin balanced :)
Mirina S Maybe switch to a more hydrating cream moisturizer? If your skin is dry and breaking out, it might be overreacting to the dryness and just wants to be replenished.
Susan Yara thanks for replying! Usually if a moisturizer is to heavy I break out more. Currently I use Tatcha water cream. Any tips on a moisturizer that is heavier then that but not crazy heavy. Something you still consider very nourishing? Thanks so much ❤️
By any chance would you recommend Bakuchiol during pregnancy or breastfeeding? What are your thoughts on this skincare ingredient? Have you used it during your pregnancy or breastfeeding time?
Have you ever tried anything with bakuchiol? It's from an essential oil (babchi oil) from India (yass, Ayurveda hehehe). Supposed to act upon the same basic pathways as retinol. I use it in my summer night cream. Added the babchi oil right in. Smells ultra soporific, not unlike patchouli. And yes, I've seen pretty great results, specifically with my acne related texture and sensitive skin.
All the best with your pregnancy. Iv noticed you always tap the product in your face. Is there a specific benefit instead of massaging/rubbing products?
New to your channel and I’m obsessed !! I’m curious though and have searched through your videos for anything on tatcha. I’m really interested in your overall opinion on their products, do you like them ?? ❤️
Love your video! Enjoy your pregnancy! (I remember how challenging and miserable I was back to the day, but I miss it now... )BTW, do you have any swaddle recommendations? There are many many swaddles in the market, and they are not cheap. Do you have swaddle recommendations for different age group babies? Thank you so much!
Hoi San Sio the vitamin c’s (there’s two types) are the water soluble ones that are not acidic nor nearly as effective as more pure forms of vitamin c. So I don’t think it would be a problem. The vitamin c’s the ordinary offers are much more concentrated and effective.
Dr Dray says the Neutrogena Body oil wash works well as a first cleanse for your face. I haven’t tried it but the price point is good so I might after I finish up my other oil wash.
I like the farmacy cleansing balm but ill only use it when i have stubborn makeup. I also keep the purity made simple cleanser in the shower to get my makeup off in the evening.
Hey Susan I wanted to point out that SPF 50 might be recommended in certain countries like Australia where the sun is really strong, we are recommended to have SPF 50 instead of just 30 usually.
@SusanYara I have read in many research that during TTC and Pregnancy Glycolic acid should be avoided. I can see many of your products have glycolic acid. Would you care to share some of your thoughts. Thanks
Thanks for the video Susan! Always so informational and to the point and lovely to watch! How do you know if a product is a true retinol or an alternative? The ren product is labeled as retinoid. Also does the ordinary have an alternative I could use?
Can u pls link the video which u mentioned regarding ingredients we must avoid during pregnancy.. like u mentioned here we shud avoid salicylic acid and retinol
Glowing mama! I’m SO glad you spoke about Bader, Susan! I’ve been wanting to write you to ask if you’d tried it. Curious if/how you think it compares to La Mer? Also, thx for the tip about the Buffet- I use the regular hyaluronic acid & I experience the same stickiness. Glad it’s not just me! Xx
Hi! I don’t think there are many creams that compare the Augustinus Bader. It’s different from La Mer (even in the texture) but I would 100% choose it over La Mer.
What is a good Vitamin C Serum that is not as expensive as the Sunday Riley? I have been binge watching your videos to see if I can somehow piece together a skin care routine
Wonderful! Thank you for this video Susan... my husband and I finally decided to start trying this year and I got so excited with your last video, I bought your diaper bag right away! haha :D I'd love to meet you one day! Love from Jersey!! xoxo

I notice you use glycolic acid and vitamin C in your morning routine. Is it ok to use AHAs/BHAs with Vitamin C? I have very oily skin and swear by AHAs but I usually skip them when I’m using vitamin C. That means I don’t use vitamin C as often as I want.
Do you know if Mugwort and tea tree (oil) is the same thing ? I want to get the I’m From Mugwort Essence but my skin always reacts badly to tea tree oil so idk if I should give it a try
Susan do you not feel it’s necessary to avoid all fragrance and essential oils in skincare? I feel so conflicted with all the info out there about them and not sure if it’s best to completely avoid or not!
Haley Mullen It’s technically best to avoid both, but I think it’s unrealistic and unavoidable. Plus, I sometimes like a nice scent. I just keep it in mind if I get an irritation from a product. Synthetic fragrances can have thousands of unlisted (potentially toxic) ingredients and essential oils can be irritating, so it’s just something to keep in mind.
I have a question, should you reapply your sunblock every 2 hours? Because i read an article that says no matter how much the spf of the sunblock is, it will be rendered useless once it passes the 2nd hour mark.
Do you have an alternative to The Rich Cream by Augustinus for those of us who may not be able to or want to spend that amount of money? Thanks so much!
I was under the impression that you can't layer AHAs with Vit C due to the pH and how it cancels out the effects both products or basically doesn't allow the Vit C to work as well. Do you use the Vit C on days that you don't use the Glycolic acid toner or do you wait a while after the toner to put on the vit C?
I just bought some skin care products because i get malasma around my lip area when i get pregnant and i have an idea on which order to use them but im not sure. I bought from The Ordinary *hyloronic acid 2% *100% plant deprive squalane *caffeine solution 5% *the toner *and jet lag mask from Summer fridays *vitamin c serum & brightning moisturizer from olehenriksen. It would be most greatful if someone can help me out on how i could use then by steps and the time i can use them (am/pm) thanks advance.
My dr has always recommended to my husband and I SPF 30 and said the difference of anything over 30 is minimal. But that’s just my 2 cents! Or I guess my drs 2 cents haha. Just throwing it out there! 🤷🏽♀️
Hi... Any recommendations of an alternative for double cleanse if my skin cannot tolerate to cleansing oil & cleansing balm... Been trying both but my skin really dry & irritated... My skin is really sensitive... For now I'm only using sensitive skin & skin barrier skincare... It did improve my skin but I still using sunscreen during the day... But I think my facial wash still not strong enough to remove that sunscreen since I only using a mild cleanser. Thanks
I love The Ordinary, however I don’t like Buffet. Buffet contains Sodium Hydroxide aka Caustic Soda aka Lye. I prefer The Ordinary’s Matrixyl which is a peptides and contains Hyaluronate Acid.
Hi Susan! It was such a great video!! I was wondering what other types of tones you would recommend if my sink care routine already included Glycolic acid? I don’t want to over do it with any of the acids. Thank you ❤️
You are such a wonderfully intelligent resource to people and I love you’re videos! You have such amazing bone structure as well! But I have noticed you don’t seem to wear a lot of blush? Is this a personal preference? Or do you feel it allows you to sculpt more and make the most of your assets? Very curious. Thanks!
It’s totally restricted by dermatologist to use glycolic and retinol when you are pregnant! It’s highly risky for individual people to affect the baby with those ingredients. How you can suggest it?
FYI, I realized later the Augustinus Bader cream has a small amount of retinol in it, so while it’s probably fine, I would skip for pregnancy!
Susan Yara do some regimen for man!!!!! 🙌🏻 I’m very oily and I’m always sweaty. Any recommendations????
@Susan Yara. I use the lactic acid by ordinary and bukchoil oil ( herbivore ) - is that safe in pregnancy ? Please let me know. Thanks

Great routine! I’m curious about what cotton rounds you use.
What about sunscreen ? I want to know what’s safe during pregnancy.
What is a good Vitamin C Serum that is not as expensive as the Sunday Riley? I have been binge watching your videos to see if I can somehow piece together a skin care routine
Timeless

Megha Jain Crafts you can buy an off brand from amazon works just the same, I bought the Luna... way over priced wish I’d bought a knock off
Hi Susan, I have the Clean it Zero balm and like it. However, I also like the Hemish All Clean balm.
Shelley Kerr I just got the Hemish balm and excited to try it!
@@SusanYara Fab Susan, Hemish All Clean balm will be in your next review..
Could you please try and get Dr Nigma Talib on The Sass with you and Sharzad? See is a Natriopathic Dr but also does facials. She had a clinic in London but moved to LA in March of this year. She has a book called 'Reverse the Signs of Ageing' and she is so interesting. Thanks. Shelley x
Do you have an updated video? A lot of those Products are not safe while pregnant. Like the Glycolic Acid.
How can I find retinol alternatives safe for pregnancy? I saw you mentioned the two Ren products but any others you recommend?
My daughter has a 3 week old baby and her skin looks very congested, she did not have it during pregnancy. What products are safe while nursing to clear her skin. Help
I notice you use glycolic acid and vitamin C in your morning routine. Is it ok to use AHAs/BHAs with Vitamin C? I have very oily skin and swear by AHAs but I usually skip them when I’m using vitamin C. That means I don’t use vitamin C as often as I want.
Where’s your long necklace from? Love it!
Looks like Amulette de Cartier
What do you suggest for scrub and mask during pregnancy?
When I used tea tree oil to spot treat, my baby would start to kick me. She hated it. I stopped it.
Plz tell what drunk elephant products are safe for pregnancy
What is best face wash during pregnancy mam
Hi Susan can breastfeeding mother's use niacinamide from the ordinary?
I've gotten skin tags and tiny moles since being pregnant. I hear this happens to a lot of women. Can you explain and talk about the removal of them?
can you use 10% lactic acid during breastfeeding?
I have a question, should you reapply your sunblock every 2 hours? Because i read an article that says no matter how much the spf of the sunblock is, it will be rendered useless once it passes the 2nd hour mark.
Absolutely!
Glycolic acid and retinoids while pregnant, are a 100% sure it is safe?
Do you have an alternative to The Rich Cream by Augustinus for those of us who may not be able to or want to spend that amount of money? Thanks so much!
I was under the impression that you can't layer AHAs with Vit C due to the pH and how it cancels out the effects both products or basically doesn't allow the Vit C to work as well. Do you use the Vit C on days that you don't use the Glycolic acid toner or do you wait a while after the toner to put on the vit C?
Try the neogen foaming cleanser!
Do you recommend the toner from REN for pregnancy?
I just bought some skin care products because i get malasma around my lip area when i get pregnant and i have an idea on which order to use them but im not sure. I bought from The Ordinary *hyloronic acid 2% *100% plant deprive squalane *caffeine solution 5% *the toner *and jet lag mask from Summer fridays *vitamin c serum & brightning moisturizer from olehenriksen. It would be most greatful if someone can help me out on how i could use then by steps and the time i can use them (am/pm) thanks advance.
You're glowing 😍 I love your videos They teach me so much
My dr has always recommended to my husband and I SPF 30 and said the difference of anything over 30 is minimal. But that’s just my 2 cents! Or I guess my drs 2 cents haha. Just throwing it out there! 🤷🏽♀️
Depends on where you live and how sensitive your skin is.
Happy pregnancy Susan :) I haven't watched the video yet but I want to send you some good vibes and love 🥰😘❤️❤️
ratata Thank you!! ❤️
Can you do a review on beauty pie products
Thanks
Iman Starling Try a gentle gel cleanser. 👍
I love The Ordinary, however I don’t like Buffet. Buffet contains Sodium Hydroxide aka Caustic Soda aka Lye. I prefer The Ordinary’s Matrixyl which is a peptides and contains Hyaluronate Acid.
How did you deal with your back acne when you were pregnant?
Hi Susan! It was such a great video!! I was wondering what other types of tones you would recommend if my sink care routine already included Glycolic acid? I don’t want to over do it with any of the acids. Thank you ❤️
Angelica Mendez I love the CoQ10 Toner from Indie Lee! Healing to the skin.
Do you apply the biossance at the end to your breakout areas?

You are such a wonderfully intelligent resource to people and I love you’re videos! You have such amazing bone structure as well! But I have noticed you don’t seem to wear a lot of blush? Is this a personal preference? Or do you feel it allows you to sculpt more and make the most of your assets? Very curious. Thanks!
It’s totally restricted by dermatologist to use glycolic and retinol when you are pregnant! It’s highly risky for individual people to affect the baby with those ingredients. How you can suggest it?
Saltanat Vecchio I don’t recommend retinol, but glycolic acid is fine.
Congratulations! I really adore you and your reviews... take care
