As somebody who grew up in the 90s, I can tell you exactly why it was banned. It wasn’t necessarily the lyrics; it was that beat! As soon as the 1st 5 seconds of the song played, every 🥷 in the club rushed to the dance floor to rep they hood & there was ALWAYS a fight! I would haul ass to find a cut to chill in til the smoke cleared. My bro and his friends had new No Limit CD’s every week or 2 like clockwork. We watched the movie I’m bout it SOooOOo many times 😂 Mia X was my girl though. Mystikal was my favorite though. Hate to see him now.

No Limit and Cash Money IS the soundtrack to my high school years 1995-1999. So many tapes/cds bought monthly. Just skim through and play random No Limit songs for a whole day you will hear tons of bangers. P's early stuff is so much better than his later IMO. As for Cash Money I never been a Lil Wayne fan, B.G. and Young Turk are much better but that's just me. Even at 42 yrs old I can't listen to a Wayne song. He was decent with Cash Money Records on a song but other than that he's not for me. Much love to N.O. though my mom lived in New Orleans in the 60s and 70s.

Just catching the video and real quick this is the original version of Bout it from the 1st TRU album. The better version is on the 2nd TRU album. As far as Wayne goes he was already at Cash Money when this came out. He wasn't allowed to cuss on record though until he turned 18 or his mother was going to make him quit the label.
