I've had G5 27" since last November and it seems good enough. I also had it for a good discount price of 250€ so I can't really complain. When buying this monitor, I knew it wasn't gonna be the best 1440p/144hz monitor there is, but I was on a pretty tight budget. Yes, up-close the image on the 32" model will look slightly less sharp than on the 27", though 93 ppi is still a decent density. If you'd ever like to sit at more than about 2.5 feet away, the 32" will serve you better.
Hi DIYking 33! Thank you very much for the feedback :) I'm so glad that you enjoyed this video ^^ Oh, also feel free to check out other videos on gaming peripherals if you are into gaming ^^
When not gaming, is there any reason to choose 120hz over 144hz if your video card supports both? Also same for the response time, any reason not to choose the 1ms response time for general usage? Thanks!
Hi Jeff _! When not gaming, 144hz on paper will just make "movements" on the screen seem buttery smooth. But with a difference of only 24hz, it is quite difficult for our eyes to really see the difference. I generally will recommend higher refresh rates as the price difference should not be that big of a gap now. As for response time, getting the faster response time will generally be better. This will potentially reduce ghosting effect and in my opinion is quite important if you are doing media consumption such as watching movies. But if looking for a work monitor for spreadsheets and word documents, any 5ms response at 60hz refresh will be fine as those will be a lot cheaper :)
Amazing review, really good job, was going to buy it after seeing your review, but they sold out in my country ( Amazon shipping was same price as monitor haha)and in a rage I purchased g7 27inch one and that 27 is huge I would say same as 32 flat one for me, only thing I don't like on both g5 and g7 is V stand it take really too much space on desk. But curve is mmmmmmmm
Hi Ivan Kostovic! Thank you for your feedback, and I'm glad that this video was able to help you in your purchase decision ^^ As for the curve, you will get used to it after a few days (hopefully) :P
i have this for a few months now, and yes the hdr sucks. its only good if you dim the sdr lighting to 0 in windows settings, but that makes the whole screen's brightness very low. but you are getting 165Hz, on 2k 32 inch! Enough good for gaming.
Hello there I’ve purchased SAMSUNG Odyssey G5 Quad HD 32" Curved LED Gaming Monitor .. was wondering how the games will feel .. call of duty vanguard and fifa will they be smooth and crisp? .. great display pictures … what’s are the best settings to get out of this monitor too? Thanks for your time :)
Hi George 2009! Depending on your current monitor, I cannot really say if you will be getting a smoother and "prettier" images. As for the pixel response speed options on the monitor, I recommend using the "Faster" setting to avoid pixel overshooting and artifacts if you are not using g-sync/freesync, and also to not sacrifice too much of the brightness and contrast. But if you still experience a lot of ghosting when playing FPS games, then you can switch over to the fastest setting and turn off room lights to still get a bright and sharp contrast image. Though this is based on my preference, so you can try it and then play around adjusting the settings to tune it to your liking. ^^
Hi Ray! It would take some time after switching to curved screen if you've never used one before. For 1000R curve, it will take about 1-2 weeks to get used to it. Having used both types, I can't really say there is any much difference other than the corners of the screen being slightly closer to your vision and requiring less head movements. But once you make the switch to curved, and then switch back to flat, your eyes and brain will play tricks on your eyes making your flat screen seem as it is folding away from you 😂
Thank you for this review! It just came on sale where I live, but I wasn't entirely convinced. Now I know I probably will be looking for something else.
Tks à lot for the super review I was Wondering if the new samsung g5 C34G55T ultrawide 21/9 was better than the gigabyte G34WQC ultrawide 21/9 But from you video as its the same panel i guess ill be better going gigabyte way, tks again 😁
Hi Coppa Dolla 100! Your comment somehow went into the held for review (thx youtube...) If it's not too late, your question on HDR for gaming on the Xbox One S is not really recommended as it's only entry level HDR10 without any local dimming zones so the whole screen will just look "brighter" in bright scenes, while darker in dark scenes without much contrast between the dark and bright areas. On top of that, it's also the same case for gaming on PC and PS4, so if you are looking to experience HDR, I will recommend going for the Odyssey G7 or a TV which deliver a way better experience. Hope this helps ^^
Great video, I have a question can this monitor run with a laptop? I don't have a pc tower so I was planning to buy this one and use my laptop to make the monitor work. I'm not planning to play heavy games the max that I will play would be Minecraft and full guys and for work.
how bad is the colour range for editing? I mainly use premiere and Photoshop, for basic work, but I want to use this with a ps5 and a pc in the future too, any advice on other monitors I should look at? the curve warping the image sounds worrying too
Hi mihiryo! The color range for basic editing is fine as long as you don't need the color accuracy of adobeRGB for professional work. As for the curve warping images, it's only sometimes that images appear warped depending on the angle and the position of the image on the screen (especially when the image is off center to one side). Hope this helps ^^
@@GamersClinic thanks for the response! I ended up going for a flat IPS display with the same specs, I've heard it can be better for black smearing and colours which sounds good to me, gutted about the lack of budget curved IPS displays but it is what it is!
Hey Edward, now it has been a few month since you presented this monitor. I am just wondering if you could tell me/us about your experience with this product after almost a year. Did you have any issues ? Would be very interesting due to good prices right now (I can buy it for 219€).
Hi GK Max! I've used this monitor for about 3 months before giving it to my brother who has been loving it since. He said he had no issues with it for either gaming, work, or watching movies. The only slight complaint he had after all this time about the screen was that the max brightness was sometimes a bit too low if he is using the fastest pixel response time. It made it a little hard to see dark parts in dark scenes when gaming during the day when he has all his windows and curtains open as his screen is facing a window. Other than that, he loved everything about it ever since he got it :)
Hello, very nice review. I saw the LG 27GP850-B, do you think that this monitor would be a better value?. I checked the specifications and seems to have better performance, evenmore is shipper than the G5 at least in the region where I live, thanks!
Hi Jose Luis Seguic! In my opinion, they are both very capable gaming monitors. The LG uses an IPS panel, so you will be getting more "vivid" colors and images, while the G5 uses VA panel which has better contrast. Depending on your "image" preference, if you really need the best response speed or not, and if you want a flat or curved screen, any choice should serve you well ^^
I know this is a late comment, but i'm thinkning of buyin this monitor, either the 27 or 32 inch. The only thing i'm worried about is the ghosting. Alot of people have ghosting issues on a VA panel but i wanted to hear it from someone who has experienced the monitor first hand. Is it bad or good enough to play on. Btw i play a bunch of games (alot of fps) so any ghosting might be a problem for me.
Hi 22braaptor! Thank you for the feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed this video. As for your question, for the Odyssey G5, it's capped at DP version 1.2 so no point in using a version 1.4 Cable. It will work, but you will be paying a little more. However, if you decide to upgrade to a new monitor in the near future, getting a v1.4 can be future proofing, so it's up to your budget :) Hope this helps ^^
Hi Gustavo Silva! If you are on a budget, then it's great for both gaming and programming. The curved lines isn't that obvious if you are sitting directly in front of the screen. It will only appear distorted only when viewing from some angles other than from directly in front. ^^
Hi El Vale! It will be useable if you are deciding on a small scale setup, but not ideal for the PS5 as the PS5 can output up to 4K resolution, while this monitor can only output maximum 1440p for PC. Though as PS5 currently does not support 1440p, so it will only output at 1080p (FullHD). Hope that helps ^^
Hi Erwin! Thank you for your feedback. I generally turn them off before I go to bed at the end of the day, but sometimes I also forget and leave it in sleep/standby mode.
Hi Harald Blumauer! Thank you very much for the feedback. I'm glad that you enjoyed the video and found it helpful ^^ As for the game in question, it is "Godfall" which is available on the Epic Store for PCs and Playstation 5. ^^
Hi jaybie dayy! It's "useable" for console gaming, but in my opinion, I would recommend a TV over a monitor if you mainly game on consoles. Main reason will be because you can get larger display sizes for similar prices and 4K resolution (for modern gen consoles), while this screen is capped out at 2K (which the PS5 doesn't support yet*) and pictures might be as sharp due to not displaying at native resolution.
hey man, im looking fwd to buy this monitor. and i sit at ususal monitor distance. currently using 24" monitor. should i buy 32" or 27" monitor?? i usually play only fps games. like warzone. in case i get 32inch, will it cause eye strain over long sessions.
Hi Jayesh Jain! If you go for the bigger screen, it should be easier on your eyes as you get to see more and also it will be more immersive. As for 32" or 27", I will recommend the 32" if you have enough space (depth) on your desk to place the monitor at around 1.5 feet away from your face. If not enough space, then go for the 27"
I just bought this 32" monitor on sale for $250 at bestbuy. I dont no much about computers but can i have my xbox series x and Gaming laptop plugged into it at the same time? And toggle between the 2? Or just unplug one when i wanna use the other? Do i need to mess with the settings or it comes rdy to go?
Hi Evan Gordon! You can connect both your Xbox and laptop and leave them plugged in as long as they are using different ports. For instance, you can connect to the monitor using HDMI to HDMI cable, and HDMI to DisplayPort cable for your gaming laptop. You can then switch/select the input source via the nipple joystick under the screen.
Hi George Lockhart! If you are on a budget, then it is perfectly fine for both gaming and photo/video editing. The high refresh rate and good response time of the panel is good for both and also general media consumption. Though if you are going for professional grade editing or HDR content consumption/gaming, then it is recommended to go for better and more expensive panels like the G7 or monitors from other brands like Asus/Alienware. Hope that helps ^^
Hi Heroic! Hm, at $230 it's quite attractive for a 32 inch. However, as for if it will be worth it, it will be hard to say depending on what features on this monitor you will need. At retail price during the time of review, it's delivers quite a good value for PC and console gamers, but at a discount and with newer monitors with newer features coming out, it will depend on if you feel like you are getting 230 Benjamins worth for your gaming needs ^^ Hope this helps >
Just got this monitor yesterday so I haven’t had too much time to play around with it but I’m wondering how important is updating the firmware? Another thing, I noticed the screen was pretty dark when I was running at 60hz and was decent at 120hz however I found that brightness went up when I turned HDR off. I appreciate your help!
Hi Yowhatsupbro78! It could be a defective part that holds the screw in the stand that swivels. It “sometimes” happens when the part is a bit off spec but within tolerance so it wobbles. Not sure if your retailer will let you exchange, but if not, get a monitor arm and it will provide you a lot more flexibility with positioning your monitor. Hope this helps 😉
Hi A racecar! The monitor that you currently have is pretty good and slightly better spec-ed, and I wouldn't be considering this as an upgrade for you. If you are looking for HDR, this monitor's HDR performance isn't that spectacular due to the lack of local dimming zones and low peak brightness. As for the 1MS refresh rate, the 1MS refresh rate is possible due to VA panel. Though 1MS and 5MS wouldn't make too much of a difference in gaming experience unless you mostly play competitive FPS shooters. So to really consider an upgrade, I would recommend the ASUS ROG Swift series which have better HDR performance and also better refresh rates on the same panel technology. (Assuming the one you have is currently using IPS panel).
Do you have to turn off the monitor on the power button? Or is it enough to turn off the computer and not touch the monitor? The power button is pretty soft on this monitor
Nice helpful video! Thanks!! You said its g-sync compatible, but that is not in the specs and this model is not listed in the nvidia website as compatible. I think they only have the flat one and have but I need a 27" curved one. I guess my question is this one really g-sync compatible ? Thanks again for help
Hi Ilko! Thank you for the feedback and apologies for the slow feedback. The model I reviewed comes with AMD FreeSync, and it will allow you to enable G-Sync on nvidia cards that are 10series and above (GTX 10xx to RTX 40xx). It's not listed on nvidia's list because they did not officially test it, but the FreeSync will work with G-Sync if you own a slightly newer GPU. Hope this helps 🙂
Hi Moses KH! This model and the ultrawide variation does not have any built-in speakers unfortunately. Though it does have an audio out aux port for you to connect to an audio device with an aux-in port ^^
reviewer says if set "Faster" response time it pretty much fixed the ghosting in G5 32" is it true? And... AOC CQ32G1 VS Samsung odyssey g5 32" -- which one you guys says better?
Hi Edward. Great video. Glad I found you! I have a question. Am looking to get a gaming monitor, so I am wondering if the G5 is good for PS4+PS5 and XBOX Series X. Thanks.
Hi STARGAZER! Are you planning to use the G5 mainly for console gaming only or a combination with PC gaming and productivity work as well? If you are mainly getting a screen for PC use, and plan to use it for console gaming as a secondary use, then it works, but consider the following points: On the other hand, if your plan is to get this screen solely for console gaming, then I will recommend getting a 4K TV as prices on those are not too far off from the 32" inch G5 price of US$370. Also one of the drawbacks of using the G5 is that for PS5, you will be limited to 1080p (FullHD) output as PS5 still does not support 2K resolution (though the Xbox does). So if you want fast refresh rate gaming at 120hz at 1080p, then this screen works (but not really ideal as pictures will appear a little blurry if sitting close, due to output is not at native 1440p). If you want to game at higher resolutions, then as both PS5 and Xbox are capped at 60hz at higher than 1080p resolutions, it won't matter if your TV does not support 120hz. The other thing is that, you will need to either run a separate audio output from the console to your sound system, or use the monitor's 3.5mm audio output to your sound system as the screen does not have built in speakers. Hope I didn't confuse you with this long reply :P
@@GamersClinic you don’t have any idea what you’re talking about😂, why would someone want a 4K 60hz tv, they clearly wanna play the series x and PS5 in 120fps. PS5 will do 1080p on this monitor and Xbox series s at 1440p 120hz. And the 4K 120hz TVs do both in 4k 120 HDR. And those are expensive so this is a better buy for most people

Nice review mate, thanks!
Hi Adam Pawelec! Thank you for your feedback! I’m glad that you enjoyed this video ^^
@@GamersClinic Thank you!
Great review. Not sure which one to get yet.
great vid bro. subbed
Hi Davey Ritchey! Thank you very much for the feedback ^^ I'm glad you enjoyed the video ^^
I’ve never had a curved monitor but I’ve considered this one. Is it worth switching from a regular monitor to curved?
Hi Ray! It would take some time after switching to curved screen if you've never used one before. For 1000R curve, it will take about 1-2 weeks to get used to it. Having used both types, I can't really say there is any much difference other than the corners of the screen being slightly closer to your vision and requiring less head movements. But once you make the switch to curved, and then switch back to flat, your eyes and brain will play tricks on your eyes making your flat screen seem as it is folding away from you 😂
@@GamersClinic ah okay, that’s good to know
Thank you for this review! It just came on sale where I live, but I wasn't entirely convinced. Now I know I probably will be looking for something else.
Hi iseeu1980! You are welcome! Glad that this video could aid you in finding the right screen for your needs ^^
Tks à lot for the super review
I was Wondering if the new samsung g5 C34G55T ultrawide 21/9 was better than the gigabyte G34WQC ultrawide 21/9
But from you video as its the same panel i guess ill be better going gigabyte way, tks again 😁
They supposedly use a different panel actually
not the same panel
GOOD JOB MY FRIEND , THANKS ,
people who’ve bought this,is there a lot of ghosting and also thanks for the vid
Yes sent mine back after a week gone ips instead 100 times better
@@andrewelse6854 ips suck at contrast....get the g7
No lmfao, there’s no ghosting at all. There was a flickering issue, but it got fixed
@Paxx86 VA doesnt mean it has ghosting always, research before u say something
Planning to buy this for my ps5. Good choice or nah ?
Yes it's great
Is the HDR really that bad as some say?
I plan to use this on my xbox one s ? Wil the HDR give problems?
did you ever get this monitor, if so. feedback on it? Looking for monitors for my ps5
Hi Briam Alex! It should work fine with your laptop if it has a display out port and with the right cable ^^
Thank you for this Review

Samsung Odyssey G5 vs Asus TUF Gaming VG32VQ vs Gigabyte G32QC
Which one would you suggest?
how bad is the colour range for editing?
Hey Edward,
now it has been a few month since you presented this monitor.
@@GamersClinic Awesome Response i really appreciate your Informations! Thanks for asking your brother aswell :)
@@GamersClinic Is 27 inch enough for games like Horizon Zero dawn, competitive games and watching movies?
Btw i play a bunch of games (alot of fps) so any ghosting might be a problem for me.
did you find out?
Awesome video bro! Which cable should I use for hdr? Display port 1.2 or 1.4?
Hi 22braaptor! Thank you for the feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed this video. As for your question, for the Odyssey G5, it's capped at DP version 1.2 so no point in using a version 1.4 Cable. It will work, but you will be paying a little more. However, if you decide to upgrade to a new monitor in the near future, getting a v1.4 can be future proofing, so it's up to your budget :) Hope this helps ^^
Good review Thanks.
Hi Eric SyztEm! Thank you very much for the feedback, and I'm glad that you enjoyed this video review ^^
Hi how are you. Is flat version of this monitor better in terms of hertz and brightness?
Would u recommend for gaming and programming? I’m afraid of the lines looking curved
Hi Gustavo Silva! If you are on a budget, then it's great for both gaming and programming. The curved lines isn't that obvious if you are sitting directly in front of the screen. It will only appear distorted only when viewing from some angles other than from directly in front. ^^
Will this be a good monitor fir the ps5? Mainly will be playing Cod and fifa. Thanks great video
Great video
Do you turn the monitor off manually at the end of the day or you have it in sleep mode? Thanks
Hi Erwin! Thank you for your feedback. I generally turn them off before I go to bed at the end of the day, but sometimes I also forget and leave it in sleep/standby mode.
Do you think it's ok to leave it in sleep mode all the time or it's better to turn it off manually?
@@Angelotiangel any updates ?
Hi would you recommend this for the PS5? Thank you :)
285 nits when pushed beyond default in custom mode. Rtings measured it.
Nice Video! Looking forward to buy one, btw what game is that at 3:00min?
Hi Harald Blumauer! Thank you very much for the feedback. I'm glad that you enjoyed the video and found it helpful ^^
As for the game in question, it is "Godfall" which is available on the Epic Store for PCs and Playstation 5. ^^
Is this good for games consoles 🤔 I've seen lots of mixed reviews and I'm so confused 😕 don't know who to trust or believe
If not enough space, then go for the 27"
@@GamersClinic thanks
I have just got the 34 inch Odyssey g5 seems a nice monitor a bit weird to start off with though after from coming from the straight monitor lol
Hi RedFox_HD! You'll get used to the curve, but once you do, it will be weird going back to a flat ultrawide >

Is this better than the LG UltraGear 34GL750-B???
There is a 100 euros difference for the LG being cheaper than the G5. Which one should I go for?
Would this be a good option for me as I mainly watch RUclips and Netflix and I sometimes play games when I want
hi is this monitor just good for gaming? and can it be use for photo video edit too?
Hi George Lockhart! If you are on a budget, then it is perfectly fine for both gaming and photo/video editing. The high refresh rate and good response time of the panel is good for both and also general media consumption. Though if you are going for professional grade editing or HDR content consumption/gaming, then it is recommended to go for better and more expensive panels like the G7 or monitors from other brands like Asus/Alienware. Hope that helps ^^
I am a console player & I currently have the PS5 I was wondering is this G5 monitor a good monitor for the PS5??
Works on PS5? I found one but it’s 1080p with 240hz
Just bought one because mine just broke
If i can get it for 230usd is it worth it?
@@GamersClinic Ok thank you!
Any updates ?
So I can buy this monitor(brand new) for 230 euros right now. Is it a good deal?
I want to get 1440p monitor but im tight on budget.
@Gamer’s Clinic My monitor keeps wobbling and idk why I tightened the screws and everything and my table is sturdy any suggestions?
Hi Yowhatsupbro78! It could be a defective part that holds the screw in the stand that swivels. It “sometimes” happens when the part is a bit off spec but within tolerance so it wobbles. Not sure if your retailer will let you exchange, but if not, get a monitor arm and it will provide you a lot more flexibility with positioning your monitor. Hope this helps 😉
I have a predator 32 inch 144hz 1440p gsync monitor. Would this be an upgrade? I want HDR and the 1MS that this has.
@@GamersClinic awesome thank you. What about the Samsung G7 model? Would that be an upgrade for me? That's got the better hdr 600?
What kind of usb to use for this monitor update ? And what capacity? My monitor is samsung Odyssey g5
Do you have to turn off the monitor on the power button? Or is it enough to turn off the computer and not touch the monitor? The power button is pretty soft on this monitor
Would it be comfortable for the eyes to work with text editors compared with IPS matrices?
In your opinion, What’s better this or Westinghouse WM32 2k monitor?!
Deciding between this and the xiaomi 34inch ultrawide, idk if i want 21;9 or 16:9
Does this monitor have built-in speakers? kindly let me know, big help.
Hi Moses KH! This model and the ultrawide variation does not have any built-in speakers unfortunately. Though it does have an audio out aux port for you to connect to an audio device with an aux-in port ^^
Is dual screen setup using two monitors of these is good or the curve becomes annoying?
reviewer says if set "Faster" response time it pretty much fixed the ghosting in G5 32" is it true?
And... AOC CQ32G1 VS Samsung odyssey g5 32" -- which one you guys says better?
This monitor should be an overkill for Xbox series x? And then whenever I switch to pc if I do it should be good?
Hello there ! Do you recommend this monitor FOR Xbox series s , 1440p 120 Hz ? Thenks !
is this any good for watching movies also ?
Hey, what you suggest
Samsung Odyssey G25 27inch with VA panel or Gigabyte G27Q QHD with ips panel?
If you are mainly getting a screen for PC use, and plan to use it for console gaming as a secondary use, then it works, but consider the following points:
On the other hand, if your plan is to get this screen solely for console gaming, then I will recommend getting a 4K TV as prices on those are not too far off from the 32" inch G5 price of US$370.
@@GamersClinic Thanks Edward. That certainly helps alot. Thank you so much! Subscribed.
