thank you so much for explaining the tolerance part of this plugin , seems like everyone else skips over it on their youtube tutorials. Thanks for helping me figure that out
Well done Ian! I am a novice when it comes to tuning vocals but you explained it so well I can actually understand how this plug in works well enough to get started on tuning vocals more accurately. Thank you!
Great video. I was really looking for a solid explanation of the Tolerance section and you did a great job explaining it. Thanks man, keep up the great work!
yo man thanks so much, u one of the only few ones that explained the Tolerance and i also rose it all the way up on the two mini knobs and it sounds way way way better, and especially on rap vocals from non singers lol thanks man
another trick i did was use the wavestune lt (for note correction since it sounds more transparent) before the waves real time and kept formant on waves lt and took off the formant on the real time and sounds way better
Please help. How do i install and set waves tune RT in fl studio????😫 I tried from Waves Central but it said: There was a problem opening the plugin for an unknown reason. Please make sure it was installed correctly. Pleaasee
Thanks for this vid. I cannot get this plug in to even work. I have in installed and it shows the notes I'm singing in the window but it literally makes no changes. Is there something you have to do to activate it first?? Or some step before you get to where you are in the vid?
Hey Nicole! A lot of people have trouble getting it to work, but it's hard for me to say what it might be exactly.. BUT I did make a vid about how to load it in, link below. Hope it helps! ruclips.net/video/l740k390ZZI/видео.html
Great q! The chromatic scale is every note in the 12 note scale, A though G#. Going to a major or minor scale will only allow for 7 notes in Waves Tune, eliminating the 5 notes that won't sound good in an arrangement. Setting the scale to the key of the song will ensure that you're only hitting notes that sound good together with the song.
And what kind of microphone was used when recording this video, because I am sure of its high sensitivity that you can already hear the chattering of teeth at 3:44
Good question! I believe the mono version of plugins take less CPU to run, so since my vocal take is mono that's generally what I would run. I would only use stereo for a vocal sample that had already had stereo processing (eg Chorus, reverb) and wanted to keep in in stereo.
Nice review and appreciated. Just wondering where it sits in the signal chain? Does it come first - before eq, comp, de-esser, etc? Thanks. (new subscriber)
I put it first, although you could put it after a eq, compressor, or De lesser. It would change the way it tunes VERY slightly, but shouldn't be that noticeable in most cases. As long as it's not after any delay, reverb, or modulation you should be good!
@@IanBellueMusic this might seem like a stupid question but idk how these things work can this plugin work on its own or does there have to be another application running for it to work? i’m looking for something that will work live, for gigs and stuff. would this be good for me or would you recommend anything else
Ay bro i have a question. I bought the plugin and everything works fine so far BUT when i sing or record the plugin just doesnt work. Like, the autotune effect doesnt work. My voice is getting picked up. But the effect doesnt show up. Do you know how i can fix that?
Hey bro! There’s a lot of things that could be happening, it’s hard to say, but first make sure your settings are set to hard tune (set scale, note trans and speed to 0.1, correction to 100 percent) Then you’ll know for sure when it’s working. It could also be a routing issue, maybe the plugin is in the wrong spot, but if the other effects on your vocal channel are working, then it might be worth contacting waves.
Why would you ever allow it to push an auto tune on a key outta the key signature? You brushed on it but I can't see where that would make sense. Especially if it's adding tonality to that bad note?
Good question, and I will amend that statement by saying that some key signatures are more complex than just major or minor. Some jazz scales or international scales use notes that might sound unusual, but are part of one of the dozen key signatures that aren't just major or minor. If a singer starts singing in one of these scales, the generic major or minor might over simplify it. 90% of the time for pop or hip hop that standard Major or Natural Minor settings will work as is quite nicely.
@@IanBellueMusic ok so you would not really allow notes out of the signature but when dealing with compositions in specific key signatures that aren't traditional the option is there. Thank you
Look up videos on installing VST Plugins into FL. It's the same process for all plugins, I didn't cover it here since it's a whole separate deal. You'll have to find the folder that Waves installed to and add the folder as a directory in FL so that you can open it as an effect.
@@IanBellueMusic Im a total beginner in recording, how can you like hear yourself with autotune and without a real delay? And how do you set that up on FL Studio?
@@joshsuu Hey! Two things, first you need to make sure your computer can handle it, most modern ones can especially if you are two traking with your Vocals over a beat. Second is actual setup. What I do is route my mic to one channel to record, and instead of sending that to the master, send it to another effects channel. This way I can record it with out the tuning on. On my effects channel I will on Waves Tune RT and a couple other effects and that will go to my master. Then go to audio setting in FL and set the latency to around 5ms. It might look different depending on your audio card, but this should be one of the only sliders on the audio page, slide it til it's around 5ms. If your computer starts glitching or the audio crackles you can try 6 or 7ms, but any higher and you'll have trouble with the delay in your headphones. Hope this helps!
A thousand times yes, I know a few people that have gotten a decent tone with Pitcher, but I never have. FL Studio has some great professional sounding plugins, Pitcher is not one of them.
Does wave tunes real time work for pro tools first ? I brought the plug in installed and activated it but for some reason I can’t find it in my pro tools first or does it only work for Fl studio ?
it looks like you're on a mac? how is FL Studio on mac? i really wanna switch over to a specced out macbook pro but i'm starting to get into heavy compositions versus "simple repetitive" beats. i use a lot of VSTs and most of them are CPU heavy and i have a lot running at the same time also and i don't wanna switch over from my gaming windows laptop if the macbook isn't gonna perform better. very good tutorial btw, everything you explained made sense so thank you
Hey man! That was a question I had when I got the Mac, spent probably 35% more than a comparable PC. Its a 2018 MacBook Pro 15. Honestly I wasn't blown away with the CPU performance, but it does work really well and was a huge step up from my old PC. FL on Mac runs just as smooth as on Windows, so I'm hoping that the extra cost ends up paying off by the Mac lasting longer than my last PC. I don't regret the switch, have about 18 months on it and still going strong!
