Bought one last month, also purchased the sheath for it , I’m pleased with it. Took a week or so to get the sheath in. Glad to hear about it’s design and how it benefits veterans. Thanks for sharing. It’s a fine little camp axe.
The CRKT Forged In War Series has some good stuff ! My Children gave me a CRKT SiWi knife for Christmas last year, It's my EDC and a dang good knife ! This Birler axe looks like it will follow suit, and I'm going to add one to my camping gear as soon as I can. To all you Veterans out there, I thank you ALL for all you do in service to this country, and to those who were in Vietnam.... Welcome Home !
Hello Bryan, good video, just one thing though, there "wasn't any conflict😖, it was a war especially for those who served in it"🤔!!! Being a Veteran of it, it was a war. Keep up the good work and keep these vids coming. Take care, "God Bless", sincerely Randy. 👍👍🙏😇👊
@@SurvivalOnPurpose Thanks, I've a true story told to me by the Lt.Col. who did it: There were soldiers getting off the "Freedom Bird"(as it was called) and in uniform feeling proud of their service sent down a barricaded pathway w/people on both sides "calling our returning soldiers baby killers, murders, spitting on them, etc.", so he went over to two and broke his nose, his girlfriend was wiping the blood away! You'll NEVER guess who they turned out to be: "Billery"! He was interviewed prior to him becoming POTUS!! He never forgot his name from the incident all those years prior!! That's something isn't it, cause our boys NEVER got the respect they deserved(IMHO)... And these new Vets have "NO CLUE" what it's like coming home to all of that. Sad, really sad but it shows just how stupid society is, since those "yelled accusations" have occurred in EVERY War, conflict or whatever, since the first rock was thrown at one that ducked and struck someone else!! Just sayin', you have a good one. Ever get my email on the Silver Buck? Happy Easter, oh, should ya lose an egg and find it 4 days later, don't think of opening it, just toss it since it's way bad already! Found that out the hard way when a kid, that's the fault of the egg counter for sure!! L8TR!!!
Is that a Tilley hat you're wearing???? I have a Gransfors small axe and a Hultafors classic hatchet. I'm thinking getting another Gransfors axe for bigger jobs!!!!
Bryan have you put a ESTWING. Hatchet to the test? I just recently got one from Home Depot and i had to sharpen it up i don't have much for sharpened it up but i put it on a nice file and i stropped it and it's really sharp and i did cut a tree that came to my fishing spot from the water and it was all most between live and died and i cut that down all most like nothing. And it's a sportsmen's hatchet and that does work better then the really thin one i have and i have to put more power in trying to chop and it has Bill Dance outdoors and the hole pice its steal it's ok for small chopping but i have to put more power in trying to chop with that one. And i keep it pretty sharp but but i have to put more power hits into. And thanks and be 😎 and ✌.
That seem to be a nice camping ax and I would love to have one to add to my inventory of camping goods and will order one later on. Thanks for sharing this information about part of the proceeds going to a veterans organization since I am a veteran and know what some have gone through.
I bought one when they first came out. Overall it was a decent hatchet. Mine did completely need to be reprofiled out of the box. Also the handle came loose after a little use. I contacted crkt and they send me a new handle once I replaced it I have had no issues.
Nice vid. The handle needs a hole for a lanyard. Also, the web site says a leather sheath is available. So, it doesn't come with one. How much for the sheath? Good upgrade on the targets.
I went to a vo tech high school. I remember guys being allowed to keep their hunting rifles in their shop lockers as well as their trucks. When I worked at GM in the mid 80’s on midnight shift, we would bring our rifles and hand guns in to show them. What happened that made it the way it is now?
What kind of crazy person would throw an axe? 😂I am glad you tested this. When I looked at one a year ago I liked the design but it felt a little too light weight. Good to see it holds up.
Thanks for sharing, so glad that the state of the art rotation and balance testing facility was up and running at Survival on Purpose's world wide HQ.......who makes a camp axe and expects it not to be tested????? Are they from Cali lol, God bless
I like the slightly bearded design so you can choke up behind the blade, don't like that the cheeks are pointed so using it like that's gonna cut into your hand.
@@SurvivalOnPurpose Holy carp.!...we walked to that store as kids. I first lived off Old Concord Road until my parents moved to Austell when I was 7. I was born in '62. We may have been neighbors as kids.
That is one sweet looking hatchet. That said, I just don't trust CRKT. $57 on your link, $90 on theirs. Add to that, when I went to their site (CRKT) my computer anti virus program went nuts with multiple high risk attacks. Not a company I feel like doing business with. Your link to the local shop was fine but listed Maxpedition as the manufacturer? I wasn't aware they had gotten into blacksmithing. Sorry to be negative, CRKT has just always been a little shady in my opinion.

That is one awesome looking ax, the shape, the type of steel, the finish looks great. Still love the hat. YOU KILLED THE SKUNK !!!. 🤣😂.
Skunk? What skunk?
Totally impressed with everything about this hatchet. Glad to know that it is approved by the world wide headquarters. 👍
Warranty? We don't need no stinking warranty!😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Nice throwing Bryan, and im glad to see you've updated your reading facility
Looks like the new balance testing device can be easily serviced, very nice design! I hope you and your family stay safe from Dorian.
Thanks
I have one of the CRKT woods Chogan hatchets and it is sweet...!! I like this one also!!
Wood chogan tomahawk 😉

It's cool
Beautiful ax head. Looks like it handles well. Thanks!
It does indeed
Looks like you gotten better with your fire steel
I remember one of you first videos with the steel.
Thanks. I appreciate it.
Looks nice but I’d prefer a grans Fors bruk
Uh...yeah ;-)
Going gear is sooooooo awesome!
Nice vid. The handle needs a hole for a lanyard. Also, the web site says a leather sheath is available. So, it doesn't come with one. How much for the sheath? Good upgrade on the targets.
Sheath is around 20$
NOO! No lanyard holes. You can drill your own.
I don't know about the sheath
That’s a nice camp axe. I like the size and design. I can imagine what you took to school for show and tell days.
when I was in school you could have a rifle in the gun rack in your truck and a knife in your pocket

It is fun to throw. Uh...I mean, you are right. Only a crazy person would throw an axe. Never do that.
Was't sold on it till it passed the hi tech balance and rotation test . Lol good video
Thanks. I appreciate it.
Excellent axe throwing 👏👏👏👏👏👏
fun fun fun
You should do a video on the Celt ftws for those who served combat knife I have pics if needed
I knew you had to throw it! Just couldn't stand it. Well done
;-)
Some yrs ago I had to make a decision on new purchases . The Birler didn’t make the cut and was axed
I had just purchased the woods chogan

Bryan: I live in a state chock full of fatwood.
Also Bryan: I'm gonna whittle on this piece of fatwood I've been using for years.
Yep
Looks good but does it come with a sheath? Thanks Brian👍
No
The new balance and rotation device is perfect. It must have cost the World Wide Headquarters a chunk of mullah!
Under $50
👍👍nice lookin ax
I agree
Thanks for sharing, looks like a good option, atb 👍
yup
Do a video of you getting some new good wood and maybe improving your wood stack so it’s not ALWAYS half rotten and wet
At this point that wood stack is purely a backdrop.
Survival On Purpose LOL 😂
Mmm Mmm, That Lil Gal Sure Performed Well & Love The $ $ , Happy Labor-Day Weekend, Bryan ! ATB T God Bless

I was really sad to hear from Sootch that Marshall pass a few years ago.
yes it was
Does it come with a sheath?
no
Nice design.

really? you live near Smyrna? I grew up there. My mom's Church is across the street from Going Gear. I am sure you know it.

The $90 is the list price. Pretty standard stuff to have a list price higher than what others sell it for. And I am sure their site is fine.
Brian I never knew You had so much in You !
Made in China for a Made in USA price and then playing the "support the veterans" card? Nope.
Well said!
Well that killed the interest in this axe! Lol
