Hi! I used to be a very academic student, and it's been a while since my grades began to slip. It's Yr 11 and i need to change, thank you for these videos, you're truly inspiring. I've been aimlessly hoping for all 9's without any work to back it up and i know i need to change. Thank you for the tips, and motivation! Wishing myself and u, jspark, a good year ahead!
@piccotaro It depends so I'll answer for a few different subjects but a lot of what I do is in jspark's videos anyway. Revision: So for topic tests, I usually create flashcards, this is more for homework purposes as often we are tasked to provide physical proof of revision so I do flashcards as it means the concepts that I don't get I can review minutes before going into the exam. I also do practice questions *if they're provided as a revision source by the teacher*. I don't do ones that aren't as often the test is made up of those questions but you can if you want. For mocks (and what I'm planning on doing for my GCSEs): I do a practice paper a few days before, doesn't have to be intense it's more of a knowledge check than anything, I usually skim and complete it under the time needed, then I create flashcards for the questions I got wrong (I usually do the flashcards the night before) or long processes that don't stick in my brain well (mRNA and tRNA polymerase). This way I can freshen up on things I'm struggling with just before entering the exam hall. Exam technique: 1. Answer the questions that have concepts you struggle to remember first 2. Answer all questions but the long answer ones (some four and six markers in science, 9 or 12 mark answers in computer science etc.) 3. Answer long mark answers Subject Specific: English: Practice, just practice on literally every and any text doing RELEVANT analysis so that you can create big ideas and complex concepts without stretching too far outside the box. For lit, learn your quotes + analysis back to front, try to re-read each one once Maths: Corbett Maths 5-a day higher plus Sparx maths: do the extra homework tasks Science: Do 1+ pmt booklet on each once a week, WRITE DOWN corrections, repeat booklets you score poorly on Computer Science: Focus on the coding so the theory exam has less pressure, theory tends to be the harder of the two Spanish: Learn your vocabulary!!!!!!!! Duolingo Learn complex phrases to make your writing more fancy RE: Ngl, idrk how I'm getting an 8 in that 😂 just cram ig Music: Get your coursework to full marks (I failed my theory but got a 7 overall because my coursework had high marks) Can't say much else because I failed my theory revising for Computer Science 😂

One of the best things that I got from this video was when you said “I’m not perfect every day.” As a top student myself, I do often have my days where I don’t achieve all of my goals or where I get distracted, etc… so it’s really great to know that I’m not the only one.
