ROCKUMENTAL (THE HISTORY COMPLETE BAND REVIEW MTV ROCKUMENTARY) STONE TEMPLE PILOTS BEST HITS
Only non-musician critics compare them to Pearl Jam. STP have always had their own identity.
100% agree. Takes a trained ear to appreciate
Way better than PJ
Yes coz I love Scott ❤️
@@TheTrouserPuppetsOfficial That’s fine, music is subjective. Tami STP were better than Pearl Jam
STP is incomparable, original and unique
Any wow they sure did entertain us! Hard rock at it's finest.😊 RIP Scott.😢
I can't BELIEVE how Scott Weiland manages to look like DIFFERENT people throughout his life. When he fronted Velvet Revolver he looked like a whole different guy! Rest in peace
Drugs do that?!!!!
Rachel yes they do. I have seen it with my father
Eclectic fashion sense.
Drugs!
@@racheldenny2612 He looked very healthy throughout many of his transformations. Drugs did not effect his looks until the final years
STP was so much more than most people realize. Yeah they were put into the "grunge" category but I think had so many influences. Definitely in my top 10.
Love this band. Scott was amazing, versatile and unique. Personally think they surpassed PJ and Nirvana as best all around.
best 90s band imo
Definitely
@gnr7838👎
I met Scott at a Guitar Center on the north side of chicago and he was one of the nicest musicians I'd ever talked to. He was also just as good looking in real life as he was on screen (no homo) RIP bro
He was born with it all, everything he needed to be a rockstar, but the tragedy's he went through ruined it
One of the best bands of the early 90s.
For me, Alice In Chain, Stone Temple Pilots, Soundgarden, Pixies, Smashing Pumpkins, and Nirvana are some of the best bands of those years.
Pearl Jam
I always felt STP never get the recognition they deserve breaking out during the grunge era Scott had one hell of a voice yes they changed styles which I wish they kept more to their original sound in core but man they kicked ass . When the drum kicked in on dead and bloated i thought it was pretty heavy that whole record jammed . RIP Scott Weiland
It always felt like Stone Temple Pilots was always pushed to the side for the Big 4 (Nirvana, Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden). Their will always be called the Big 5 to me.
@@screamrad218 yeah and it’s funny considering how much they completely destroy every one of those bands, STP was awesome
We miss you Scott Thank you for giving our life this amazing soundtrack ❤️
I feel they were panned by the critics specifically because they weren’t from Seattle and cane up in the grunge era. They are musically talented and Scott Weiland was one of the best vocalists of the era. I was never a huge fan, but they wrote amazing songs.
I always love the way Scott performed & sang! He has a special voice. I am 40 and I love him since I was in my early teens. STP is my favorite and there's all the other bands he created to make minds.
After all the years... People really still Do not understand his talent! Even some of his members!
RIP Scott. This brought tears to my eyes. Don’t you worry. You left a legacy. Thank you for the music and best memories
Weiland was so beautiful inside and out..miss u so much, ty for the beautiful music xx
STONE TEMPLE PILOTS are so fuckin underrated. Their music are so fuckkin great!!!
I'd love to see a proper documentary and dare I say "movie" on the entire career of STP with Scott
You should read the biography that was written about him totally engaging cover to cover really good and easy read. He had some fucked up shit early in life I think it probably drove his addiction. I won't score of the dump. Definitely worth the read
@@herokillerinc His autobiography "not dead and not for sale?"..wasnt a fan honestly..
Same here, would love to see a full movie documentary about STP and Blind Melon too
Talk show is dare I say the deleo’s 2nd best album after tiny music
Scott Weiland movie is in the works
I really hope someday those Mighty Joe Young live videos appear in RUclips
Loved the ending. R.I.P Scott Weiland
From "Tiny music.. " my favorite song is "and so i know".
Hands down one of my favorite musical compositions of all time.
Stone Temple pilots were way better than Pearl jam in my opinion.
100%
imma second that!
Definitely but I do like Pearl Jam but stp is my favorite!
For sure man, they were. Eddie Vedder is talented but boring to me
Agreed, Pearl Jam was pretty good too but stone temple pilots just smokes them when it comes to music and talent.
Favorite band of all time saw him three times in concert before he passed💛
That last part, awwww man, it got me... rest in peace Mr. Weiland
The little dance at the end ❤
This was very well put together.
STP is way better than pearl jam ;pearl jam is like blue hair old folks rock very soft and left;STP is original and cool as fk ;no comparison
Exactly. PJ sucks. Fk their politics.
@@davidcross701 PJ is great. STP is great
Scott and Layne were the best voices in the 90s and idc what you say 🌹
Cornell was up there too
@@Wargasm54 never got "fully" on board with Pearl Jam or Nirvana...
Weiland was a vocal genius. Cornell, however, was the actual BEST singer. He was amazing. In two short years, I lost my two favorite living vocalists (Weiland & Cornell). Just sucks and still hurts to this day.
@@eaaivazian Four died in total, sucks... RIP. Five including Andrew Wood... RIP
@@arktos298 Six if you include Mia Zapata. Murdered by a monster.
STP's musical arrangement had a warm sound that tended to Weiland's vocals.
Thanks for posting the whole documentary.😎
The great band the Legends stone temple pilots
He was just a beautiful, young, redheaded boy🤌❣️
Damn legends!!!
So neat that this interview is happening during the Big Bang Baby video
During Shangri-La sessions, a documental and double album never happends read more: stplegacy.com/shangri-la-dee-da-documentary/
No.4 is their perfect album. From start to finish every track is good like Led Zep's II.
4:01 Freddy Mercury😅 I was greatful to have seen STP in 97👍🏻🎸 the are still one of my favourite bands. Bush as well was a great band i saw. I never got to see Nirvana, or Alice in chains, Soundgarden..i wish i did, but life got in the way. Scott was brilliant, you're sadly missed mate🙏🏻🎤 I miss the 90s... Best music and tv, films, even people. The people i still know from the 90s most stayed the same, including me self, while other's changed unfortunately. Great time for almost everything. Cheers 🤘🏻
Brendan O'Brien was as big a talent as anyone out there at that time. STP Core and Purple sound great to this day 2022
they have a deep catalog of high level songs that compare to some of the greatest bands...out of the 90s I feel no other band has a catalog that is close to the consistent level of excellence and variety of this band. I think alice in chains has a great catalog, but the variety that stp has was unmatched...they also had a cool factor. The critics tried to put them in with the Seattle bands...stp was a cali band that forged their own way. even the covers they did were amazing. I really hope when the weiland movie comes out they finally get the credit they deserve that us fans have always given them ...the doors really got a huge lift as did queen when the movies came out a out Morrison and mercury. hopefully this movie does the same for them because they deserve it.
100%
Weiland movie? For real? Is this happening?!
such as great band , scott we miss you
Una de las bandas más interesantes de la época y que merece más reconocimiento por su música tan genial y diversa
What a brilliant rockumentary Scott was a brilliant singer.
I watched this Rockumentary when it came out. The next day I bought Tiny Music and it’s still one of my fav albums. It was awesome to watch this again. Thanks!
imo Scott sounded so much better to me pre heroin addiction. he looked so much better then. such a tragedy that drugs can rob so many people of so much 😢
RIP Scott Weiland. We miss you so much 😢💔😭
🎶💚🎶🎼💚🎶🎼 Love them to pieces ...#90GrungeRocks best era
The Core album is one of the best rock and roll albums of all time, beginning to end. It flows so smoothly.
STP didn't get credit they deserve for being a great Rock group and no doubt they had an amazing singer RIP ~Scott Weiland
they were always about the music. trying to better themselves and change with each album...every member is super talented and I'm sorry to any pearl jam fans, but give me any Stp with scot album and I'll take it over any pearl jam album ...it isnt a knock on pearl jams excellence..I totally respect their career and what they've managed to achieve but stp has the best 90s catalog
Core was the shizz even when all the grunge was. King
STP you remain alive in me for decades. Thanks for uploading this. WTF re: press & critics. like we cannot love STP and Pearl Jam etc equally. always trying to divide. This is the first time experiencing their interviews. like them more, RIP Scott
I think S.T.P. was the highlight of the 90s. In comparison to other legendary bands from that era, it's hard to look past their first 4 albums without noticing the diversity and colour in their sound.
It helps when you have 3 virtuoso musicians and an eclectic singer who had such a rich voice.
Long live S.T.P 😎
im so glad i got see them twice before scott passed.
the soundtrack of a generation....
Thank you for this video 🙂G.K
Amazing
This was my band man. #1
they fucking rock - great band
Core, Facelift and Ten...thats all I need.
"Core" was incredible album
core is one of the best albums ever made so eff that.
Greatest rock band imo
Looks like STP had 20 different singers..🤷🏻♂️
Both PJ and STP are unique in their own ways. Both are great, iconic bands❤️
Seen STP 6 times fr Aug1994-March 2010.
NEVER will or would see Stone Temple Pilots without Scott......
That's ridiculous.
The guy is arguably GOAT Front-man
I love Stone Temple Pilots.
Still remains is my number one song of all time
Critics are irrelevant. They amazed the people. Nuff said.
Core defined the 90s alternative music in a one little box.
🤩 Amazing band that Core album is 💯
Today 4-1-2022 is the 30th anniversary of the 1st record deal!!4-1-1992 🤘🖤 I'm still listening daily
Grew up hearing them on the radio still play there albums now. Truely unbelievable band way better then Pearl Jam.
beautiful to see Scott young and clear headed not jaded and drug fucked
Take it easy
Cord is a great album.
Also, the name Stone Temple Pilots is one of the great names
RIP Scott and Layne and Chris.
Earth Soul STP Blues RocknRoll...
Fuck drugs .. killed so many great artists.
Why is the narrator yelling?
Anybody have the video that the live Crackerman clip was from in the beginning of the vid?
Please please please !!!
Why is there no real full length documentaries on these guys? Should’ve been done while he was still alive smh.. AIC too
Rip Scott and Chester
This a great album and I loved it and purple but the one that always got me was tiny music.
Thing about all great/cool bands in early-mid 1990s?
They made records THEY WOULD want to listen to.
Which in turn?
Churned out HUNDREDS of MASTERPIECE albums fr 1991-95.
@@westwardthinking6403 Too many list..
Pjam/"Vitalogy"
Pjam/"Vs"
Tool/"Undertow"
Tool/"Opiate"
Hum/"You'd Prefer an Astronaut"
Toadies/"Rubberneck"
Hundreds more!!!
But do me a favor..
Listen to Mad Season/"Above" 1995 Album.
They're only album.
I've said since I was 17yrs old Spring 1995 after hearing it for first time b4 school?
We skipped school, smoke Hooka hits all day, played basketball listening to that album over & over.
I declared it "the BEST Rock n Roll album EVER MADE."
Almost 30yrs later? My mind hasn't changed
@@westwardthinking6403 I think STP's 1999 album "No.4?"
Highly underrated and their 3rd best album
STP smokes Pearl Jam
God saw stabbing westward on the Whisky’s Marquee. I went to High School with the original drummer Angelo Manasses RIP. dude died on NYE a few years back.
Am i the only one who thinks Dean is Freddie Mercury's separated brother?
💓🤟✌️
I loved STP, the only time I saw Scott when he was the singer he was drunk and drugged out
If u don't like STP u got no taste in music
STP was next level. Pearl Jam was too commercial. STP was in your face , ball to the wall pure rock that didn’t sound anything like the grunge crap that was coming out of Seattle at the time. Eddy Vedder couldn’t touch Scott Weiland. He was just one of the best frontmen of any band of the time. They had their own sound and style.
Ah yes, critics. Those who want to but can’t, so they judge others. In this case, poorly.
Duff is my hero!
They ckearly are nothing like Nirvana or Oeatl Ham. Eddie Vedder has an awesome voice too, but Scott changed his voice and looks. The press and critics were blind and dumb to say they are copying Oearl Jam and Nirvana.
Pearl jam

💝💝💝💝
Scott made that band RIP
He's f*cked up here in the beginning.
Now they're charging between $90 and $200+
They are good, but not that good.
Yup. It was a trend that bands did in the mid 90's. Green Day, Pearl Jam, etc. Kind of sad these bands were just faking it
STP rules…..
I'm not a Pearl Jam hater by any means, and I love a few of their albums, but who in their right mind thought that STP was a PJ ripoff? They don't sound anything alike. STP has way more tang. Having said that, a million different bands tried to rip off PJ and STP, and all of them failed miserably. Puddle of Mudd? 3 Doors Down? All kinds of garbage bands tried to mimic STP.
Pearl Jam didn’t hold a candle to stp. They are more funky and grooving with blues, a great lead singer and rocked at the same time. I think all those bands like the pumpkins and Blind Melon, and the peppers, Jane’s addiction primus etc etc As if all the bands in the early 90/s through the middle 90/s got lumped in as supposedly the same crunch rock and yelling vocals and grunge style of dress as they fit a fashion sense of the 90s and the rock bands style of players to be a grunge band. It’s like rock ‘n’ roll couldn’t just be rock ‘n’ roll. It had to be titled so even though all those bands mentioned above were fun and psychedelic, and funky, and heavy and with the dynamics and atmosphere of mood with the music soft and sweet and sour and weird and also powerful and loud. The playing level and approaches were better and more versatile overall in comparison with all around players from other parts of the country and not the Seattle sound. We were and everyone should’ve been calling it rock and roll and been able to blossom even more and not have to be this titled style of dress and Rock music sold as grunge music and permeated this idea of no improvised music or only chords and melodies and no live action or even stretching the music and allowing if needed a second guitar to play as lead adding more to the mix and depth and a inability to create a lead sound that would add sonically to the rest of the band. the lack of the sound and responsibility of being the rhythm guitarist carrying all the guitar playing load and repetitive elements with all the sonic range being mostly in power chord bars.
The keyboard ,organ ,and piano is dead and did not exist until you found the underground music and of the secret world of the dedicated traveler fans and the touring band music scene that made psychedelic improvised music that had evolved as the first of the grateful dead influenced and then became the post dead scenes of party minded peaceful music freaks and the drug bands/dance bands who were pushing the envelope and connecting the dots with the music and people and bands all becoming a part of the community and the creative process of the music evolving nightly around the live world and improvising the music and the energy levels of both band and fans made for a real connection to each other and importance of the music and scene as 1
Ahh f*** that. they had their own sound, never bought into
Stone Temple Pilots copycatting PJ, they were the sh** !!!
