  • A redone and higher quality video based on my earlier one that showcased Half-Life 2's physics via the section in the E3 demo that was recreated in the 'Missing Information' mod. Note that here I'm playing in the updated Missing Information 1.6, which can be found at the link below.

Honestly I feel like the physics in this game were absolutely underappreciated...

Yes sir. For me there's no better physics than those in Source engine games. They require such a small footprint in specs, are totally embedded, and still outperform games that require dedicated physics cards well over a decade later.

      @@FlyboyHelosim A dedicated physics card ? What ?

@@nolram Games which supported PhysX, for example, started out by requiring a separate, dedicated PhysX PPU (physics processing unit) expansion card.

@@FlyboyHelosim That was about 15 years ago. Now PhysX is open source. And yes, back than the Havok engine was pretty good, but the argument that todays physics systems can't hold up or improve on it are simply wrong.

@@nolram I never said that today's physics systems can't hold up or improve, but today's games simply don't implement physics as much or only to a limited degree. HL2 is still one of the best, if not the best, games that had physics baked into the game engine with little to no overheads... and it did it over 15 years ago.

wow! thanks for remastering the video 10 years later! crazy how Half-Life 2 still looks so good today.

No problem, thanks for watching! It was merely a coincidence that this video was made 10 years after my first one. In that time the mod has had improvements and my computer is several times more powerful than the one I recorded and edited the first video on. This one could have been a lot better but I wanted to keep file sizes down to a sensible level.
