@@felixlalanne You're an amazing guitarist man. Although I'm still light years away from your talent, you're quickly becoming one of my inspirations due to the many times I've listened to this album on repeat :D great job!

@@felixlalanne ah ok. Now it's clear the situation. I know something about it, it's hard nomadays do an album of original stuff and getting recognised a little bit or, earn little money on it.
I've been saying for years that metal and jazz was the same fucking thing if you took distortion off the guitar. Now they get it. Genres in music only exist for marketing purposes. Shittin me. I'm a musician and I listen to everything.
This is awesome. Reminds me a bit of Tosin Abasis jazz project T.R.A.M. They had a short album out about 10 years ago. Just went and bought the album. The mix is great.
@@bemersonbakebarmen I’m being extra cautious when it comes to labels and more interested in the influences within the music itself. I’m starting to see, especially in a lot of music journalism, the “ Prog metal “ label being thrown around at groups who are not Prog or metal just as I’m seeing a lot of groups that are jazz rock which have nothing to do with jazz. So I’m citing the musical influences within the music itself as opposed to giving it a straight label like a lot of music journalist are doing, especially those journalists who have no musical education.
@Non Euclidean Chaos Rolling Stone magazine ( in 1986 ) called Frank Zappa's 1965 tune " Trouble Every Day, " the precursor to rap. . . . I'll call it for what it really is, bro: MUSIC. Thanks.
Try Planet X, the main originator of jazz fusion as applied to metal. They were formed by Derek Sherinian when he was fired from Dream Theater, and wanted to make a band that played even more complex and aggressive prog than DT
In term of prog world there a lot of bands have same vibe: 7for4, Scale of Summit, Space Out, Karmakanic, Blotted Science, Henry Cow, Dark Matter Secret, Miriodor, Kenso, Sixun and more but still this is great band. 👍
This is by far one of the most underrated music ever! Human civilisation needs to go through decades of evolution for the masses to be able to understand the beauty of this
Don't know if you are a musician or a passive listener, so go listen to local bands in your area, (club, bar, what have you). Talk to the artists during their break, and ask just the question you've asked here. If they are knowledgeable, they will give advice on how to find other musicians or other listeners liking the same genre of music as yourself. A little help can go a long way. In the 1970s, I was looking for band members, so I talked to friends who knew friends who knew guitar players, bass players, ect. Then, it took awhile, but eventually, I found band members interested in what I liked. That's close to where my drumming career started. Was just a local/regional drummer, but it was fun. Now with social media, it should be easier for you. Good luck.
who else is here because they typed "jazz metal" in the search box? i'm really glad i found this, it sounds super cool.
Yeah... after Happy Chaos's theme I just needed more of that taste.
Right here! 🙋♂️
I typed that in the search bar as well because I love hearing fusions of my favorite genres
I typed math jazz but it's what I'm satisfying to :)
That's exactly why I'm here
Finding this album makes me simultaneously happy I found it and bummed that it's currently their only album.
they have an EP......arcingwires.bandcamp.com/album/sensory-overload
There’s more where that came from believe me ;)

Jesus christ that mix. 😳 so epic
jazz metal is so good
Crunchy fresh
The instant I heard this, I developed a case of "Spontaneous music face" syndrome.
Well done and played guys. I would like even more jazz passages in it.
This is amazing. I feel like I need to practice listening to this to enjoy it fully, but I still massively enjoy it nonetheless.
For me is the best Rock-Fusion work at all !!!!!!!...👍👍👍👍👍.
this needs it's own genere
theres a ton on bands like this bro , animals as leaders, chon, polyphia, an endless sporadic
Prog Metal/Rock
A mega action soundtrack for a movie!
The band Planet X sort of coined the genre to some extent, their 4 albums from 1999-2007 are incredible
Great stuff! Don't stop writing, recording and sharing!
Great band for great music.
Liking Blue Steel so much...the guitar solo is so metalfatiguesque...🤤
Prog metal is basically what happens when the band is glitching out and accidentally makes good music while in a glitched state
Always coming back here for more :)
This sounds like what David Bowie's band used to do whenever he left the room. 😉
Djazz?

Parts of it remind me a little of Derek Sherinian's Planet X releases.
Amazing album yes,yes,yes !!!
Check out ARCING WIRES bassist and drummer in their new side project TWIRLY BENDER. Fully improvised synth funk recorded live to tape!

Awesome!

This will be legendary. Shame Holdsworth isn't alive to tear it up.
I'm sure he would've played exactly what the music needs.
It's such a shame we only have the two Planet X tunes and one Derek Sherinian solo release to show Holdsworth in a prog metal context

Quanta roba... complimenti.
Oh my god
F'ing Fire! Beautiful Jazz-Metal fusion without really being too prog or math to pull it off. Meriam's got a new dictionary blurb coming soon...
Kind of a jazzy Rush with no lyrics. Nice layering of channels. Very creative. (Long time drummer).
great album verry unique sound

Wow.
Serotonin, Alan Holsworth
Fantastic.
This is badass! Being a fan of huge jazz rock ( namely Frank/Dweezil Zappa and Dream Theater ), listening to this just made my day!
Wouldnt that be Prog Rock? I agree however. Modern prog rock has exorcised the Jazz influence of 70s prog.

There's a vocal track in Catacaustic. But she's just singing "Daaah dee daaaah... daah dee daah dee daaaah dee daaaah".
