(She hit her head during a Road Rules/Real World-themed birthday party competition.) Of the aftermath, Kiyoko says, “I couldn't think, I couldn't open my eyes, I couldn't drive. I was fucked up. I take like five pills a day for my head, still.” Kiyoko was on tour at the time, crying before and after shows because the pain was so severe. She started resting with a piece of citrine on her forehead, and she says it helped her a lot. (So, too, have her regular appointments with the UCLA concussion clinic.) A seven-minute song on Kiyoko’s debut album is devoted to her concussion and the resulting struggle to heal."

Ugh I was smiling so hard this entire video. Her honesty is so beautiful. It feels like watching someone say all the things I’ve thought but never said. Her confidence and openness are things she’s fought for and I hope they’re things I’ll fight for too. Anyways, thank you Hayley for using your voice to speak your truth and making it a little easier for girls that like girls or those who struggle (but try) to discover their own personal power or both. Well, Hayley, a lot of artists don't actually write and produce their own stuff like you. People hand them pre-made songs to sing or tinker with, they call it "theirs" and say they "wrote" these songs but didn't. It's easy to pop out 10 cookies when you have a cookie cutter vs actually forming each by hand. That's why it's hard to make an album, cause you're actually doing all your own work. Like you fucking should be.

c pain she ended up in the hospital a few years ago with a bad concussion that lead to a little bit of neurological damage, i think it was a car crash but i can’t remember, she struggled alot and got depression, and still takes medication for her injuries
