While I take my hat off to you for getting out there doing it, I can’t help but mention that before people starting tearing it up with diff locks and 33/12.5s, lift kits etc, we used to piss bowl it in a stock standard 1958 series II Land Rover. Just saying.
@@Crawlerer79 its great on hiway and off road. I've never been stuck, and have used it to tow more than one person who got stuck. Planning on keeping it until it dies, or I do.
I have the same v8 car with automatic transmission, I installed automatic locks in front and rear, 36/12.5/15 simex extreme trekker wheels, but since in our country there are problems with tuning parts, I want to know which way I should go with the transmission, my friend gave me the gears into the transfer case 1.6, I think will this be enough for me or will I still need to change the gear ratios in the gearbox?
Changing your transfer case gears to 1.6 only changes hi range, not lo range so you will still be massively overgeared when in lo. Personally, I much prefer leaving the transfer case gears factory, and changing the diff ratios instead. For 36s, I’d be suggesting 4.37s from Ashcroft. You’ll be slightly undergeared compared to factory (by a couple percent), otherwise 4.11s will make a huge improvement but still be a smidge overgeared (I run 4.11s in Lando on 35s). Hope this helps!
@@Crawlerer79 Thank you, I was thinking of following the way of replacing gears in the gearbox, but we don't have them available in our country, another option I have a front and rear axle of the car Patrol MQ 160 with the Gear ratio 4.6 and an offset rear gearbox will install them
good afternoon, I apologize for my english, I wanted to know more about the configuration of your car, what reduction is in the transfer case and main gear
@@Crawlerer79 Thanks! Amazing how some on the internet would lead you to believe that the stock rover axles cant handle 31s on stock gears. Wish I had gone with bigger tires now!
@@WeekendWarriors87 No worries! They're certainly not bulletproof but a lot tougher than given credit to. As you can see, I drive it reasonably hard but certainly don't thrash it and I have broken 1 CV and 2 rear axle shafts in the year and a bit that I've had the Silverstones, but it's not too bad considering it gets wheeled most weekends! Also the auto locker in thew rear is quite rough on axle shafts.
No worries! Haha that’s for sure! Best in mind if you have factory open diffs, they’re what will let go first, have broken one on 32s but was driving a little rough at the time haha 😂
Another Awesome vid. Your a natural presenter. Do you have a winch damper, your mate was standing pretty close to death zone.. Anyway keep up the good work. 👍👍👍👍
Cheers man, appreciate it! And yep sure do, carry a couple. The synthetic rope is a lot safer and any time we have any proper load on the winch it always comes out, especially over pulley blocks etc. was only cause there was very little load on and the dampeners were buried that we didn’t chuck one on (bad example I know!), will make sure to always throw one on it the future!
@@Crawlerer79 I didnt realise it was synthetic. They can still go off well. Yeah didnt take much to get over the hump. Your disco goes bloody well. You've inspired me to get my p38 rangie sorted so we can hit some trails. We use our canam down waimak every weekend. Cheers mate.
Yep, seen synthetics break and still not fun, but at least not pure death. I would never run anything other than a synthetic rope. We do a fair bit in the winch challenge comp scene and is generally recognised that the ropes are safe enough that it’s the solid objects in the recovery (the hook or pulley block for example) that should have the damper over. And haha yep almost made the hump, watching back the video, I reckon a slight line change and I’d driven it... guess I’ll have to go back! And how good! Keep an eye out for the next subscriber trip, should be a good one!
Haven’t got one planned yet! Definitely early this year but won’t be until after the waipara river run as it’s all go on getting the $100 disco running for that. Hopefully pretty soon after tho as last time was such a blast!
Thanks, yep the suspension works well, is nice and balanced but could use some more travel... all to come in Lando V2.0.... build will be starting soon aha
Thanks mate, appreciate it! And I haven’t yet, but there’ll be one out very soon. The trucks coming off the road pretty soon for a huge rebuild/upgrade, so I’ll film a full run down before then! Just gotta finish the $100 disco!

Great vid mate you’ll be happy you drove slab hill al the way
Haha thanks! Yep I was stoked to drive the whole thing, last wee bit I had to winch last time so was good to tick that off!
What axles are you running on that thing? Awesome rig and entertaining video
Factory LR axles with twin lockers and 4.11 gears. Still factory CVs and axle shafts so can’t get to rough yet, all about to change soon tho! Thanks!
