So I'm having trouble removing my stock hardware. Does the stock hardware come with a flattened nut also? And if so is that keeping me from getting the damn thing out?
I purchased three of these. Don't get me wrong this is a good design...BUT... this type of lock nut is either defective or when it was welded it was warped just enough to cause damage to your threads. I hand tightened the bolt onto the nut and then went at it with my wrench. Everything went on fine until I had to remove my track bar ... it started to come out and then eventually just kept spinning because the threads had been eaten up because the nut caused way too much compression on the threads. I bought a second one giving this company the benefit of the doubt. I repeated the process tightened it by hand this time not on the track bar bracket instead on my workbench. went in fine until it reached the compressed portion of the nut and proceeded with my wrench nice and slow. I then attempted to remove the bolt with my wrench and began to notice the threads completely stripping off the bolt. Again this is a very good design but maybe I got a bad batch. I emailed the company telling them what had happened and that I had already purchased two of these bolt kits. They didn't even bother calling or emailing me back. I went ahead and bought a third one and passed a thread tap through it to shave off some of the over compressed threads in the nut. Installed the bolt kit with some thread lock and haven't had an issue with this product since. I understand how lock nuts are supposed to work but just a heads up to anyone that decides to purchase this product be prepared to have a similar issue unless they have fixed the defect... I also purchased their HD bushing which is a very good product I will definitely purchase the bushing again if need be
Hello. This product uses a top lock. A top lock by design has the "Top thread section is deformed to create two or three locking zones" They start easily by hand, then must be wrenched into final position. (146 ft/lbs) They are NOT designed to be installed and removed. Since this nut has to be welded to the flange we can not use a nylock nut, and the goal is to make sure this bolt doesn't loosen up and cause death wobble. So our recommendation is to install it, torque to spec, and leave it alone. Consider it a 1 time use nut, otherwise only suggest to get around this might be to tap the nut before.
Good to know this nut is designed to be a one-time use. However it is not in the description of your product it's kind of pricey to buy over and over again for those of us that like to work on our jeeps. As long as ive been wrenching ive never heard of a ONE-TIME-USE TOP LOCK NUT. I have used top lock nuts tons of times and never had this issue. XJs and ZJs have top lock nuts throughout the front and rear end and do not strip the threads from the bolts when removed. Awesome design just not for one time use
The HD bushing has a 1.53 OD, and should be pressed into a housing with a 1.52 ID. This is a common Jeep bushing, but if RC uses a poly bushing, it will probably not work. If they use a OE style rubber bushing, probably yes. www.claytonoffroad.com/sites/default/files/product_instructions/MB01B701740%20Drawing.PDF
If its an OEM style rubber bushing, most likely yes. But if its a poly bushing, no. Email us a picture and description we maybe able to give you a more precise answer.
It should. But check our website for bushing specs. Bushing is 1.530 OD, and should be pressed into a housing that is 1.520 OD. Cant give you a 100% guarantee, but if it has a stock rubber bushing in a metal housing, it should work. If it has a 2 piece poly bushing and a metal sleeve, the bushing probably will NOT work. www.claytonoffroad.com/sites/default/files/product_instructions/MB01B701740%20Drawing.PDF

Do you know if this will fit a Rough Country track bar?

Can you put a part number in the description? It’s hard to find it.

Will this work with a stock xj track bar if you’ve previously drilled over from the factory hole?
Will that bushing fit in any after market track bar ?
