The sawmill is a great addition to the homestead!👍👍 Austin is apt to get addicted to cutting wood. Getting it straight & level is key.

Happy for you that you have one more useful tool in your homestead arsenal. I don't know if anyone has suggested this yet - rig some kind of bucket system where the sawdust comes out, and this will be another source to enrich your garden, use for bedding, a fire starter, etc.

The covered wooden bridge is so cool.It reminds me of the one seen in the movie with Clint Eastwood & Meryl Streep - Bridges of Madison County. It’s to bad it has gravity inside that bridge. Also Madison County Iowa is where John Wayne “ The Duke “ was born.💜☮️

That's awesome, looks like a good setup when you get the leveling/binding thing figured out.
I've see other people mill lumber and use it immediately only to find out that it shrinks a lot as it dries out. So you're better off for most situations if you can cut it then stack it up with sticks between layers for a few months so it can dry and shrink before you use it.

Thank you! Yes we are looking at how to dry the wood now, especially before using it in the shed!

You will have to come to Vermont The Cornish-Windsor Covered Bridge is the longest wooden bridge in the United States and the longest two-span, covered bridge in the world.
