With older model (2018) travelled to France, Belgium, Amsterdam back to Ardennes from UK with the wife on the back. Used kriega duo bags. Bike was faultless, and surprising felt fine on motorways and backroads. Averaged between 75 to 90 mpg.
Hello Thomas, Once again this review confirms my future choice. 👍 For very few off road trips and no passenger, with some safety and comfort accessories, this bike is the most pragmatic choice for a beginner who wants a versatile machine. Your final quote is reported from Marty McFly in "Back to the Future" (1985). Have a nice week! 🙂
You did a fine review. Very good points and honesty 👍 Thank you for your time.. it's a mid range bike really.. 4 hours to destination and weekend tours. Not a BMW1250 😂
I put grip puppies on mine and it dampened the vibrations. I changed my footpegs. The sw motech are wider, lower, and the rubber is removable. Both changes make highway and off road better.
I reserved a cb500x 2015 model and will be coming in the next 5 days I'm excited to finally to get my hands on a real bike not a 125 so tired of the noisy 125's that don't go anywhere in a timely manner. Also it's nice to be able to carry shut and also get some weather protection.
Yes, that s a very good review as I have the same bike, and I use mine predominantly for commuting and road trips and have an off road bike for that purpose. Cheers and enjoy
What do you think about the gearing? Is it too short, just right? The engine seems to rev really high at highway speeds ( ~80 MPH ). Some people add a tooth to the front sprocket or remove two from the rear, but that has mixed results as well. Wondering what your thoughts are.
That was a very refreshing review. I have a Kawasaki Z650 which is sort of a naked but relaxed street bike. The problem is I also like off road riding a lot and anytime I'm on the Z and I pass a gravel road I get a serious urge to turn on it. I usually pass. For that reason I'm considering selling the Z650 and buying a Honda CB500X. I think it'll be a good street bike while allowing me do a bit more exploring on those gravel roads. I would never think of it as an off road bike like a true dirt bike but for cruising some easy dirt roads and some sweet country roads I think it would be perfect. When the off road is more challenging I also have a KTM 690 Enduro R which I LOVE! I think the KTM and the Honda CB500x would complete me. Thanks for sharing. I'm about to check out your channel. :)
I understand that you don’t take the z650 on gravel :) the 500x will definitely answer to your needs! Beware of the difference in power though, I’ve ridden the z650 and it’s got a lot more power, just so that you’re not too dissapointed if you like the power
@@thebrightrider I also owned a Honda Rebel 500 and found the power to be adequate. In fact I liked the smooth power delivery of the Honda 500. I believe it's the same engine in the CB500x. Subbed btw. :) .
Good fair review bud 👍 Its definitely a more road orientated bike.. I have been looking at one and considering upgrading the suspension as I plan on tackling the TET, but I have decided against it. A more off road bias bike is a better option for me. But as you said, you must look at what you want to do with it. 😃 - Back to the future
@@501adv it really isn't... it is lighter weight, but has very limited ground clearance, and a more revvy engine. All these budget all-terrain bikes compromise in one way or another, but equally they all manage to get you pretty much anywhere you'd ever want to go on a bike like this - you just have to ride around their inherent limitations accordingly.

Great vid ! I'll buy mine for xmas, so moist right now ! If there's only one accessories for this bike, like a total game changer you'd recommend too a tall dude, what would it be? Keep it up the good work. Great fan from France by the way
I think if you like doing off-road and still have the capability to go really far away with/without passenger or case, maybe you should test some KTM adventures :) KTM is literally god in doing off-road but only thing that might make people don't like it is the look (looks like an alien hehe) But really nice video keep it up 👌
It does not vibrate that much compared to others.. maybe if you compare it to a african twin or a gs you can say it’s bad, but those are 3x the price.. so no, it does not put me off :)
Hello I read for the bike like 6 months because I do t know if this bike is for me because I want to do trips on every road not only back roads. About vibrations when I test ride I fell better at 115-120 than 100-110. A lot of people have more vibrations with engine guards. All say the givi its not very good. Try without engine guards to see if it's better . The Honda engine guards have some think like Tyre oring for vibrations. (sorry for bad English if you don't my words make sense tell me to try again) 😂

Your review is exactly the kind of stuff needed to review bikes. Keep it up. Great work!
All that talk about aches and pains - hate to tell you what it's like when you are 65 :). Nice review!
I've had many motorcycles and I now own the 2016 of the Honda cb500x. This was a very nice and concise review. thank you

Bark busters foam on the grips helps with the buzz from riding at highway speeds. Nice honest review.

I’m also considering the sw-motech footpegs, did you buy the one that you can adjust to be lower?
@@thebrightrider yes, it doesn't appear much lower, but it feels much better. They have two settings. I ride with the rubber out.

Smart choice! If your focus is going to be offroad, it’s best to pick a more offroad orientated one :)
ktm 390 adventure is a better option for off road

First is always safety so handguards and crashbars. If I could choose one ‘for a tall guy’ I would recommend the windshield extention :)
Thank you for another helpful video. I think I will buy the Honda rather than the Himalayan
(PS Don't tell your Dad.!)
similar video for Himalayan would be appreciated
I'll make some Himi videos soon :)
I have identical motorcycle you have rubber foot inserts unbolt underneath and I have SRC stainless steel foot inserts bolt into original foot pegs.
What do you think about the dr 650 vs the cb500x? Do you think the Dr can keep up with you on the highway?
Don’t know anyone with a DR but from what I found on Google, it should :)
Dude,If you dont want centre stand then use a big foot for your side stand
How tall are you? Asking because I'm considering buying one and I'm 5' 7inches tall.

The front of a KTM looks like a Praying Mantis - not very pretty.

I dont think CB stands for city bike as they also have 1000cc displacements in their lineup
The Honda brochure I have in front of me is certainly claiming it has off-road ability.
I am 6’3 and about 230. Would this be an appropriate bike for my size?

My dad loves the T7 :) not in my budget though
Is the vibration there at 100kmh to 110 kmh?
Yes, especially after my last fall on the TET
